LIVE

This is the first in a series of films looking at Verbatim Theatre, featuring interviews with Alecky Blythe, Nadia Fall, David Hare and Nicolas Kent.

Produced by myself and filmed/edited by Dominic Brouard.

Here’s a short film I produced, looking at the historical context of Emil and the Detectives and featuring some very interesting interviews.

national-theatre:

Playwright Carl Miller and children’s authors Philip Pullman and Michael Rosen reflect on Erich Kästner and the historical context in which Emil and the Detectives was created and published, in the midst of great cultural and political change in Germany.

This film follows the team behind The Elephantom from workshops through to rehearsals and it’s debut at The Shed.

Short and sweet.

Here’s a short film I produced looking at the staging of From Morning to Midnight at the National Theatre, directed by Tim Marrinan.

national-theatre:

What goes into staging a huge production like From Morning to Midnight?

Go behind the scenes and into the rehearsal room of From Morning to Midnight with director Melly Still and writer Dennis Kelly, who have adapted Georg Kaiser’s German Expressionist masterpiece for the Lyttelton Theatre.

Here are four short films created as part of a filmmaking competition I set-up, a collaboration between National Theatre and IdeasTap. Each team saw the show, took part in a story workshop and were assigned a professional filmmaker to support them and, I hope you’ll agree, the results are very different and fascinating.

Here’s the full playlist of National Histories event, a series of conversations with key people from the National Theatre’s 50 years reflecting on their experiences. A personal favourite is Jim Carter and Imelda Staunton, who first met at the National in 1982 whilst working on Guys and Dolls.

This is a short film I produced and filmed by Dominic Brouard, looking at the design of the upcoming National Theatre: 50 years on stage event.

national-theatre:

Mark Thompson talks about his work as designer for the National Theatre’s once-in-a-lifetime performance ‘50 years on stage’ that will be broadcast live from the Olivier stage on BBC Two on Saturday 2 November at 9pm.

This once-in-a-lifetime performance features many of the most celebrated actors who have performed on our stages over the past five decades and is directed by Nicholas Hytner.

As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations - key NT actors, writers and directors answer the same ten questions about the National in a series of special National Histories Platforms.

First up, Nancy Carroll and Alex Jennings reflect on the National’s history and talk about their favourite NT performances, what productions they wish they had seen and their unsung heroes.

national-theatre:

Simon McBurney and Judith Dimant reflect on 30 years of Complicite with Louise Jeffreys (Director of Arts, Barbican). This is a recording of a live Platform event.

Godddddd I really don’t wanna go to work today I feel fucking miserable and I’m literally so stressed

I’m really torn on this

Do I hire a perfectly capable worker with whom I have a serious difference of opinion, or do I just deal with being understaffed on one of the busiest days of the year

Do I confront her about it? Do I just ignore it and hope it doesn’t come up?

What if a gay couple comes in and she doesn’t serve them properly? Or she says something super offensive?

She was always super polite and friendly when I knew her, so it doesn’t seem likely but…. still.

I feel uncomfortable with either option

This Christmas has snuck up on me. Work has been also a fiasco as always. 6 day work weeks the month of December is tough. Overtime tho eh? Customers are also always at their worst.. Just wish I had more time to work on other things….

The first real concept art for the book I’m working on, Amor Fati. Starting with the main character, Benjamin D'Orgali, AKA the Blue Earl! I will try over time to complete the concepts of all the main cast’s designs as well, to tease a bit this thing during the wait for the first book. My Greefall followers will surely enjoy!

Sorry for being so absent. I know this one is nothing new , but hopefully more bits will come this way !
