I just finished writing a whole chapter of an original story!

Thank you for sharing! An original story is certainly a very exciting project! Gratulation to finishing a whole chapter! That must definitely be a euphoric feeling <3 I hope it carries you as far as possible through the creating of your story! I wish you the best for your future writing and your original story especially!

I started writing fanfic again in April and finished my first longfic in September! I’ll always be proud of it and will love to share it even if it’s not perfect, rough around the edges, or whatever else you want to say.

Thank you for sharing! Finishing a long piece of writing is definitely a great success! You can really be proud of this because you did it, and it doesn’t have to be perfect for this at all! We need to learn to love our ‘rough’ fics and texts as well. I know that this is definitely something I have to learn (and to finish some fics as well XD). Cheers to you! I wish you the best for your future writing and all your further projects!

I’ve been writing a little over a year now, and am reasonably prolific in my main fandom.

When I stumbled upon a monthly prompt challenge for Sherlock. I love Sherlock Holmes in every incantation, but never considered writing him - although I love detective works I’m pretty sure I don’t have the brains for that to be realistic.

So I started small. I’ve now written five shorts. I don’t get anywhere near the level of reaction my main fandom gives me, and I’m fine with that. This is, for me, just a side fandom.

Until my short for October’s prompt. I wasn’t even sure if if this month’s - what with Whumptober taking all my time.

Imagine my surprise to find this, four days after posting a double Drabble:

Three of those notes are me answering comments, but I’ve never reached double figures here for Sherlock.

My point?

Expanding my fandom writing has been a huge challenge - my main fandom is so very different to Sherlock - and it would be easy to give up the second fandom due to lack of interaction.

But persistence pays off.

I’ll not stop writing for Sherlock, and I’m starting to think about over loves I have and could I write them too?

I’m expanding my fandoms and thus my writing scope. And enjoying every minute of it.

Thank you for sharing! I like seeing how important it can be to have something you write most of all for yourself. Even though, you contribute it to the fandom you have another focus than when writing for your main fandom. I know from experience how fic writing can have its very own and sometimes high pressure on you - aside from the motivating spirit of sharing it with mutuals. It can happen that this pressure of productivity and recognition can overshadow the pure joy of writing. So small new projects can be quite inspiring every now and then.

It’s lovely that a side fandom made it possible for you to explore something else for yourself away from the attention of your main fandom, and that your efforts paid off to conquer new territory in your writing scope. Starting small is very helpful to get familiar and comfortable with the new requirements you meet. And it’s nice to see that your new adventure held such lovely surprises and that you’re enjoying the new ways you’re going. I wish you all the best for your future writing in all the different fandoms you’ll possibly write!
