Her drawings were looking blank.
Searching her room everywhere for just a drop of inspiration,
she looked down and noticed an old box, placed carefully next to her desk. The aluminum tin box had a lid that was shaped like a pyramid and sat covered with a film of dust. It was a gift from a friend years ago, and inside it used to hold chocolate cookies.
“A box?” she thought, “I never leave a box empty.”
And she didn’t.
There was not a box, drawer, or pocket that she left empty.
They were the perfect places to store memories and keepsakes.
Eager to see what the old cookie tin held inside, she dusted it off with an old rag. Holding it in her hands, she gave it a small shake. It didn’t produce much of a sound nor much weight.
“I wonder what it is?” she wondered.
“Maybe I’ve stored an old note or jewelry in here..”
Eyes focused intently on the tin, she popped off the lid and looked inside.
Dead flowers and one cookie lay forgotten in the corner, wrapped and uneaten.
“Ew” she said, and put the lid back on, placing the tin back under her desk.
