I really dislike it when readers bash a writer’s work. Maybe they do not understand because they are not writers themselves, but these books are the author’s work and they have every right to do what they please with it. If the reader doesn’t like the book then they need to stop reading it and start writing something of their own. Maybe they can do it better.

My biggest YA pet peeve? When and if a book gets turned into a movie they always ALWAYS change the front cover to the movie poster. They don’t do this with kid’s books, so why do they do it to books aimed at an older audience?

I wish female protagonist didn’t mean “guaranteed romantic subplot and/or love triangle” in fiction. It’s in everything, including genres where it doesn’t make sense.

“I let out the breath I didn’t know I was holding in.” Please, YA authors, stop that. This is probably one of the worst book cliches.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but I’m really excited for The Seventh Son. Even though it looks nothing like the Spook books (and Alice is completely wrong), it looks really cool.

“Alien Secrets” by Annette Curtis Klause, “Keeper of the Isis Light” and “The Game” by Monica Hughes, and “Winter of Fire” by Sheryl Jordan were some of my favorite YA Fantasy/Sci-Fi books growing up…but sadly it seems that nobody knows about them now, because they’re lacking in Love Triangles and Dangerous Pretty Boys. Ugh. So sad!
