Yuri Is My Job Anime Rumored After Leaks and Website Domain Registration

On April 16, rumors began to appear online that Miman’s popular Yuri comedy series Yuri Is My Job! (Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!) will be adapted into an anime. The rumors originated on Weibo and were quickly picked up by users on Twitter.

Additionally, Twitter account Sugoi LITE, which regularly posts anime leaks, posted about a newly registered website domain for the alleged adaptation, watayuri-anime . com. YuriMother has verified that the domain was registered in Japan on April 14. WataYuri (わたゆり) is a common abbreviation for the manga’s Japanese title.

It is unknown when we will hear more about the possible anime adaptation. More news may come alongside the release of the manga’s tenth volume, which will be available in Japanese on May 18 and November 15 in English.

Yuri is My Job Volume 8 Releases Tuesday

The eighth volume in Miman’s Yuri manga series Yuri Is My Job! (Watashi no Yuri wa Oshigoto Desu!) releases in English digitally on Tuesday, February 8. Paperback copies of the book will be available on March 1.

Yuri Is My Job! follows high school student Hime, a sweet princess deeply concerned with maintaining her status. When she accidentally injures the manager of a local café, Mai, she finds herself drawn in to help out. Hime begins working as a waitress in this Yuri café, where the staff plays the parts of students and girls in love in the fictional Liebe Girls Academy. Kodansha describes the eighth volume:

Putting aside their enmities, Mitsuki and Kanoko combine forces to bring their beloved Hime back to Liebe. Mitsuki has resolved to accept any harsh rejections that Hime may have, and is now prepared to work alongside her. On the day of the shared birthday event for Mitsuki and Hime, the two look picture perfect. However, when the show’s over, what Hime shares with Mitsuki is something nobody saw coming…

Yuri Is My Job! parodies genre tropes, particularly those of Class S literature, girls’ literature focusing on deep, sisterly romantic connections between girls in school. Although the genre originated in the early 20th century, it was revived later in Yuri works like Maria-sama ga Miteru which is alluded to frequently in Yuri Is My Job!

Currently, Ichijinsha publishes nine volumes of the manga in Japanese. Yuri Is My Job! has been serialized in Comic Yuri Hime since 2016.
