Some of you have probably seen my proposal but since it was an addition to another post, I’m making one specifically for this here.
For those who haven’t seen that post, the basic gist is that Alex has signed with an agency which offers the option of one on one and group zoom sessions. I’d really love to surprise her with a Kinglet convention and gather as many people as we’re allowed.
I’ve contacted the agency to ask for details on how many can participate in a zoom call (I know it can be up to 100 but I wasn’t sure if they’d have a limit for these things) and what figure we should aim for to make it happen - they responded with “what’s your budget and we’ll see what we can do” which wasn’t very helpful to me but I asked what they felt was fair to pay for Alex’s time.
I’d love it if we could raise enough for at least a 45 minute session because we all know Alex is chatty and we’ll need that time or more if we can.
I’m thinking that we should set a goal amount of $1000 for now which we all split between us. Depending on the maximum number of participants we’re allowed, it’d be ideal if we could make this a case of “spend what you can for a place” since I know a lot of people can’t commit to spending a lot of money on things like this.
I’m willing to contribute $200 to the cause just to get things started.
For payments, I saw that the agency accepts PayPal so I think our safest option is to create a PayPal account specifically for this where we all transfer money and then we have records and it’s all documented.
I should also add that I am not a leader and am being driven purely by the excitement for everyone else because I know how much it means to me to have had the opportunity to do it myself and I want others to experience it.

Wait… can we do a group zoom call? Can we have a whole slew of Kinglets on a call together from different locations? Because she would love that . How can we make that happen?
Okay so I’ve been looking into this and we actually cando a group zoom call for up to an hour. There’s no pricing list available so I’ve emailed the agency to ask about it and they basically said “what’s your budget and we’ll see what we can work out”.
I’m kind of really serious about this so is anyone interested in participating? I’ve asked in the Kinglets Facebook group and have a few people who are interested there, so I think if we got enough people involved, we’d be able to cover whatever the minimum cost is and then anything else we can raise is a bonus. I’d love it to be a case of “pay what you can” because I know a lot of people can’t travel for conventions and don’t have the luxury of spending $95 on a two minute conversation.
