The drawing for last week’s Adventure Zone took so long because at first I was just gonna draw this first image, but then I came up with the concept of turning the Tres Horny Boys into pokemon starters so I had to do that too.
I made them all the animal masks they had for Petals to the Metal. So Merle’s an owl, and obviously the Grass-type. Merowl, Highperch, and Flownatruth. While incapable of flight, their close connection with nature has granted them the Fairy typing.
Magnus is the Fire-type. I mean he even has “burn” in his last name. Magnursa, Bearnsides, and Rushesinferno. Their rowdy behavior grants the Fighting typing. They use the whetstone-like features on their chest to sharpen their axe-claws, which they use to fell trees.
And that leaves Taako with the Water-type. I mean, he does have an umbrella. Taakumbra, Swumteevee, and Abracamongoose. They channel mystical energy through their tail, granting them the Psychic typing. They can manipulate the water that collects on their hat.
This was actually a lot of fun to come up with, and good practice for studying the pokemon art style. Definitely gave me a better handle on how they do their shading and whatnot

had to change my devo design with this new development but i think i like this look too! also my zoox design doesn’t have any eye holes or mouth hole so he’s just crying from everywhere

She’s holding it with one hand as her other arm lays on the back of the couch, and her two phantom arms are holding a thermos and laying besides her leg.
The first sketch is a comic of, first Devo taking a sip from the mate, an arrow pointing at him reading “very happy to be included on a non-church communal activity”, and then saying “this is bitter, but it is… good!” while Amber replies “as it should”. Then Zoox holding the mate and using one of his glove’s compartments to mix it with the liquid inside his suit, and the final panel is Zoox looking startled shouting “ack! it’s hot!?!” and Amber replying “what did you expect?”.
The last sketch is the three of them sitting at the couch next day drinking tereré, Devo is the one with the thermos happily giving the tereré to Amber, Amber is reaching to grab it with one hand and is propping her face with the other, looking vaguely annoyed but still smiling as she looks at Zoox, and Zoox is just sitting at the other edge content. //End ID]
