This artwork was designed for a UN initiative to help in translating critical public health messages into engaging artworks. I used cinematic storytelling techniques to deliver a global message. It’s said we’re all Edward Hopper paintings now. We are more like Search Results Web results Béla Tarr movie frames, I think.

Painted digitally in Procreate, this painting was inspired by a photo reference and working on it was so exciting.
I drew the rough outlines and moved directly to the values. I used Procreate’s fat pencil for the whole piece. I added small details (e.g. hair, highlights, …) at the end using the heavy sketching pencil.
I also added a slight hue shift effect to give a hint of color on the surfaces facing the outside light, a detail that’s hardly visible.

This art piece is the result of my first collaboration with a pediatric gastroenterologist (and I still don’t know what that means .) It’s for a blog post about umbilical cord care for the newborn.
