This artwork was designed for a UN initiative to help in translating critical public health messages into engaging artworks. I used cinematic storytelling techniques to deliver a global message. I wrote a blog post about the thinking process behind this art piece, here: https://www.alhyari.art/post/girl-power-and-how-a-digital-artist-thinks-a-blog-post-on-digital-art.

This piece is a freebie and I’m happy to share the original, print-ready PNG file (4,500 x 4,500 px @ 400 DPI, sRGB) through Alhyari.Art file sharing portal here: https://www.alhyari.art/file-share (sign-up required.) If you want the file in PSD, PDF, or TIFF format, or if you want the art process video (15 minutes in 4K), please contact me at [email protected]. These are also free for non-commercial use.

It’s said we’re all Edward Hopper paintings now. We are more like Search Results Web results Béla Tarr movie frames, I think.

This digital painting is inspired by a scene from Tarr’s The Turin Horse. Done with Procreate.

Painted digitally in Procreate, this painting was inspired by a photo reference and working on it was so exciting.

I drew the rough outlines and moved directly to the values. I used Procreate’s fat pencil for the whole piece. I added small details (e.g. hair, highlights, …) at the end using the heavy sketching pencil.

I also added a slight hue shift effect to give a hint of color on the surfaces facing the outside light, a detail that’s hardly visible.

In December I made the illustrations of ‘Sprinkles’, a poetry book by a 4-year-old boy.

I designed the book cover (in green, attached) to show how much I thought the boy contributed to the text compared to his parents— this is a first-time confession :)

The little author, Shivaansh, composed short stanzas based on Polaroid pictures he took over the last year, then put them together in topic-based poems. I made the illustrations for the book inspired by those texts and frames.

Today the book was published on Amazon Kindle as it was simultaneously released at the consulate of his country (India) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Now as I saw him reading the poems fluently, I feel I should have added more territory representing him on the book’s cover :)
