I wanted to keep track of and try to read as many books as I could this year, but due to our family having the worst start to 2022, I haven’t yet. So, I’m finally doing it and I just want to write some notes and stuff - how long it took, small reviews, I don’t really know, but I’m going to pin it to the top of my blog as a constant reminder to actually do it. Also, if anyone wants to check out what I’ve been reading, I’ll update this list as much as I can. Or if you have any recommendations, I pretty much love all genres except horror/sci-fi stuff. <3

~ So, yes, I finished this in one day. I stayed up until 6am reading most of it and then finished it after work on the second day. I could not put it down, it was so good. I was looking for a royal themed book to start with and this was a twist on the trope that I just loved. The twist/reveal at the end is something I actually did not see or predict, even though it seems obvious now that I know. Beautifully written, and I am about to start 2/4 right now. ~

~ This one took me a little longer because the buildup of the first quarter(ish) of the book was so slow to me. But once it got going again, I absolutely loved it. The fights/little battles in the forest are always some of my favourite scenes to read because I myself find it extremely difficult when writing combat. It’s really cool to read those scenes written really well, you know? I’m gonna be so obsessed with Poppy and Casteel for a long while, I know it. They are perfect. And again, I actually wasn’t expecting that ending, despite the fact it seemed almost obvious. I have just two more words to say… hot springs ;) ~

Book 4 title has also been released but was done so without Jen’s knowledge or for her to have the chance to tell us herself which, is so sucky:(
Betrayal trope when its someone telling person A that person B betrayed them and person A refuses to believe them because they know that person B would never do that. But person B just looks at them with this sorrowful guilt and person A knows. And person B’s heart breaks along with person A’s and they just stare and stare and stare at eachother, aching so much. And person A is so angry at themself and at person B and they hurl themselves at person B because how dare they? How dare they come into their life and then destroy everything? And person B just takes the punches because they’re asking themself the same questions >>>
I like fbaa, but if someone doesn’t get miss Jennifer Lynn Armentrout a better editor (if she even has one) I can not take anymore “poppy asks to many question” or “I’m going to stab you” jokes. And then after we have a battle scene the next chapter is just discussing everything that already happened or going deeper into world building. Everything is just thrown at you. You think Malec is Poppy’s father think again bitch. You think poppy’s a deity nooooo she’s actually the freakin granddaughter of the king of the gods. It was almost to much to follow. The dialogue is very modern for the world, and the banter is just very repetitive.
yeahhhhh apparently she self edited this book…. also you can tell she’s making “jokes about it” to herself. this isn’t a gimmick ms jennifer please STOP IT
