Sometimes when I see people out walking their dogs, I think about how all the different dog breeds from poodles to chihuahuas originally came from wolves thousands of years ago, and it blows my mind.

I imagined what that first transformation from wolf to man’s best friend might have been like.

In 2011, Dutch photographer Charlotte Dumas embarked on a quest to locate the last surviving 9/11 search and rescue dogs who had worked so tirelessly ten years earlier. Retrieved is a collection of their portraits, a moving tribute to these heroic dogs and their handlers.

Looks can be deceiving. This canine cutie may look innocent and adorable, but what happened in Murray, Utah will make you look at it differently.

A store in Murray was victimized by this dog. He had his target locked, and got what he desired. This husky did not mind what the rules are, and decided to run away with his Christmas bone.

Watch this video for proof:

The stolen good was valued just at $2.49, but it is quite incredible for someone whom you don’t expect to pull this kind of stunt off.

Before I head off to bed…

I just wanted to post something in honor of “National Puppy Day”. Like most people who own a dog I think mine is just the best one there is, meet Whiskey. I’ve owned her since she was 2 months old, and literally fell in love with her at first sight. She was born from an accidental litter on a back woods Kentucky farm. She’s an Australian Shepherd/Beagle mix and has the perfect blend of both those breeds visually and mentally. I did not decide on doing “puppy classes”, but instead she has been trained by myself and I feel like I’ve done a pretty solid job. Before the age of 6 months she knew 5 commands including sit, speak, down, shake, high five and of course was taught to never snap at a human or other animal around food or under stressful situations. She has even progressed to learning roll over, stay, and can be left off a leash outdoors and will return when called!
She’s always by my side and has been loyal even on my darkest days.

I Love You.

Click here to read this tract in FlipViewer.

My two youngest children (of seven) and I share a birthday, and my baby daughter Danyelle (who was turning 7 and who trusted Christ as her Savior at age 7) wanted a dog. I surprised her and bought a beautiful King Charles Cocker Spaniel and named her Salvation. We called her “Sal” for short.

In truth, Sal was the best member of our family, and she taught us many lessons that we will remember for the rest of our lives. Here are a few of them.

  • We all must stick together and care for each other, especially family. Wherever we were, Sal wanted to be with us. We took her on about a dozen long-distance road trips and she was always a great companion. There is a reason why so many people have called dogs “man’s best friend.”
  • We all should practice the principle of patience. Sal was a very patient dog and endured the ups-and-downs of family life like a pro. She never complained or whined even when she was hungry or sick. She always had a brave and uplifting spirit.
  • We all should strive to bring joy to others. Every pet-lover knows that there is nothing better than the feeling of your furry family member resting in your arms or sitting by you watching you with curious eyes as you work or rushing to sniff your feet and say hello when you get home. Sal brought much joy to our lives and is a reminder that we should live to bring joy to others as well.

But why did we call her “Salvation”? We wanted Sal, a creature made by God, to be an every day reminder of the gift of salvation that God gave to us through His Son Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your Savior, here is how you can receive him as your Savior today:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and, with your help, I will follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour, and you prayed that prayer and meant it from your heart, you are on your way to Heaven. You are now saved!
