Zyne'ibem (Speaker); a convicted murderer, struggling with the voice of his god to atone.

The Lanian script there says ‘EYE’ which is the symbol of the Swifthorn god.

Putting Swifthorn in dynamic poses is hard but very rewarding. Speaker is a convicted murderer and is forced to wear a mask over his eyes when he is seen in public; though he does flee to the lawless lands to try and hide his shame.

A nameless Swifthorn with the mood for the evening.

Quick doodle for warmups today since I don’t feel good; one of my Aquatrice lads.

once in a blue moon i get the urge to revisit my alien designs and OCs

I wrote this one with the word ‘alien’, but it could be used for any non-human species or races within a fictional setting.

1) How long do the aliens live for, on average, in human years?

2) How many sexes do the aliens have? What is the biological purpose of the different sexes?

3) Are there any particular gender roles? Is one gender expected to work while the other looks after the children? Are duties shared? Are there ways any particular gender is expected to act or speak?

4) What sort of diet do the aliens have? Are there any particular delicacies they enjoy?

5) Do the aliens have many different cultures, like humans, or is there only one/just a few?

6) How are the young educated, if at all? Are individuals formally educated their whole life?

7) Do they have a monetary or barter system? Are there jobs?

8) What kinds of naming conventions do the aliens have? Are names, like in most human cultures, separated by gender, or do people gain new names after large life events or with age?

9) Are there any other species they live peacefully alongside? Or any that they keep as pets?

10) What sort of houses/nests/dens do they live in?

11) On the whole, what do they think of bathing?

12) Name some popular past times.

13) Is there a hierarchy within their social structure(s)?

14) Do they wear clothing? What sort of clothing, if any?

15) How about jewellery or anything a human might consider superfluous?

16) Do they have TV or an equivalent? How about books?

17) What sort of environment(s) are they usually most comfortable in? Are they aquatic, arboreal, do they dwell in grasslands or tundras?

18) What are some cultural attitudes towards the elderly? How about towards the young?

19) In general, what do they make of sexual orientation and relationships? Is it odd to have a sustained relationship? Do they have an analogue to homo/hetero/bisexuality? Do they go on 'dates’, or just mate?

20) Name one thing these aliens might do that an average human from your country/culture would find strange or foreign.

This is Guardian & Vaiki, they’re best friends. Vaiki crashed onto Earth and Guardian had no self preservation, so went straight up to the giant alien centaur half passed out in the woods.

“Conflict” by Vill Liedo ~

A continuation of my previous artwork “Vibration”, but this time I decided to draw a conflict between two vaerafes. This is probably the first time (at least in recent years) when I used such a composition to show a conflict and aggression. I very rarely draw on this topic, although it definitely deserves some attention, and the conflicts and battles of the vaerafes are no less interesting than their communication and expression of love.

Vaerafes usually don’t like brute physical strength, and most of their fights take place through “telepathy”, energetic and mental contact. Of course, sometimes this mental fight is combined with a literal fight, but this depends on the situation and the culture of the individual vaerafes. Those who live in a developed society use physical fight less often. However, in general, nothing prevents them from combining a mental attack with a physical attack, as well as with a verbal one.

It’s not easy to describe the process of such a “mental fight”, since it doesn’t look or feel like a literal or verbal fight. In part, it resembles a tense dispute, and vaerafes use all their knowledge, experience, skills and talents, trying to persuade the opponent, or mentally suppress them, forcing them to retreat. It’s just that in addition to words they use energetic contact, the merging of their minds, which allows them to exchange information, experience and emotions directly, feeling each other. And the more personal and important the conflict is for these vaerafes, the closer their contact will be in the process, and the more intense and fierce the mental battle will be.

As in the case of physical strength, the ability to fight mentally requires a lot of skills, experience, and different vaerafes use different tactics. So, some suppress the enemy with their equanimity, which they use to reinforce their experience and beliefs, while others use very bright and strong emotions in their attack. This is not necessarily the emotion of anger, because emotions here play the role not of a personal internal stimulus only, but also as a direct weapon. And the mechanisms of their emotional defense and attack are rather… complex, sometimes even confusing. Skillful vaerafes are able to withstand many opponents at once, and in some cases they even know how to deceive. It’s not as easy for them as it seems, because it’s difficult to deceive someone who literally can feel you in the moment of battle. But learning is possible.

So, vaerafes aren’t harmless and helpless creatures, but an epic physical battle should not be expected from them, since the most interesting part of their battles occur through their mind and feelings.

“Vibration” by Vill Liedo ~

Something I love to draw over and over again - unity, symmetry, connection with each other and with oneself, communication and the nature of my creatures, vaerafes.

Two vaerafes communicate by touching their feelings, sharing information, energy - the electricity that flows in their bodies. I tried to draw this process itself and how it feels, in the form of something surreal. Intuitively, but based a little on how the vaerafes themselves perceive and visualize these feelings and sensations.

This time, I wanted to move away from the idea of magic and abstract spirituality, depicting (in artistic and surreal way) a process and skill that is quite natural for vaerafes. Somehow they know how to perceive, feel and see (not in the literal sense) energy, are very sensitive to it, and can communicate with it, directly exchanging impulses. This form of communication takes a significant place in their perception and language, along with body language, written and spoken language, as well as smells. Moreover, their perception of smell is partly mixed with the perception of energy. Well, or it is just my interpretation, in order to cling to at least something understandable and known…
I would like to note that such communication is rather personal and intimate for the vaerafes, being on the next level of intimacy after physical touch.

By itself, their “energetic” nature, that I interpret and draw in the form of surrealism, flows of energy and glowing veins, is most likely somehow connected with their nervous system, electricity in their bodies. But due to my non-acquaintance, as well as the impossibility to know the vaerafes and their nature in real life, I interpret it in my own artistic way.
In general, such communication between them is a bit like telepathy, but they don’t speak mentally in words, sounds or pictures. Rather, they share their emotions and sensations, literally feeling what the other is feeling. Perhaps that’s why they like such a unique moment of unity, when their minds merge together and reflect the feelings of each other, being in balance and harmony…

In fact, vaerafes are not solitary creatures. They are very social, even if they communicate in their own way, and not as massive and collective as humans are.
By the way, more than two vaerafes can participate in such a mental “dance of unity”. But it will be more difficult to establish a balanced connection.
