azorahaireborn-deactivated20220:
a list of all the parallels between aragorn and daenerys:
that i could think of at least
- they are the last heirs to kingdoms that got destroyed in an atlantis-like apocalypse
- said kingdoms were the most advanced civilizations of their time but became corrupt, committed atrocities such as human sacrifices, worshipping dark deities, using blood magic etc.
- their ancestors escaped from the doom that fell on those kingdoms by gathering their house and sailing west/east and established new kingdoms on the shores they sailed to
- they have ancestral family weapons, associated with kingship, which were broken/extinct until they were re-forged/brought back by or for them
- said weapons are described as “flaming swords”
- and the reforging/return of the said weapons are fulfillments of prophecies
- their stories are centered around reclaiming their dispossessed family’s birthright and fighting the great villain in their respective stories
- they stray way from their initial plan to return to their kingdoms and take their thrones to help others, who are in no position to help themselves
- they are symbols of hope
- “my speech may be tyroshi, and my garb dothraki, but i am of westeros, of the sunset kingdoms” “i am strider and dúnadan too, and i belong both to gondor and the north” grew up in the north/east, became (or means to become in dany’s case) rulers of the south/west
- they have magical blood that gives them distinctive features and certain abilities
- they are heirs to questionable rulers
though i don’t think isildur should really be grouped with aerys, struggling against the legacy of their ancestor is still there- they prove themselves better than the said questionable rulers
- their fathers were killed at a young age (or before she was born in dany’s case) so they had to flee alongside their mothers
- they are prone to doubting themselves, questioning their choices especially when innocent lives are concerned
- they are their enemies’ greatest fear and the biggest opposition against them
- “the hands of a king are the hands of a healer” they take it up on themselves to tend to the wounded and the sick despite their high position
- have arrived/will arrive at crucial battles bearing their “flaming swords” with armies, that were prophesied to join them in their fight, behind their backs when they were/are thought to be lost or dead
pelennor fields/battle of fire- they free slaves
- “all those who follow them come to love them” they inspire great loyalty and love amongst their followers

“His grief he will not forget; but it will not darken his heart, it will teach him wisdom.” ~Aragorn/The Return of the King
At first I wanted to do a sketch study so I picked Aragorn. Then I thought why not add Boromir. Then I fiercely remembered just how much I ship these two.
Peace out, I’m gonna read some fanfics

Aragorn: Can you find me some athelas?
Sam: Some what?
