Here is a brief thing I did.

I normally never used the default buttons on the pen and usually disable them.  After using a cintiq companion with limited button mapping and no keyboard i realized i had no proper way to adjust my pen size.

I changed the buttons on the pen to increase and decrease pen size.

Not sure if anyone else does this but I think its a good tip.

Hope it helps!

Rain digital painting study in procreate

Here’s a video of how rough it looks close up and then zoomed out the image works!

If you’re stuck when painting a material like water, zoom up really close to the reference photo. Can really help you understand how color and light play off a surface.

Hope this helps!❤️

Nice article!

I try to think about silhouettes more, and when I remember to, I find my artwork is more dynamic and less boring.

2009 vs 2022!

Good way I like to get out of art block/help my low self esteem lol is to draw an old sketch and see how far you’ve come!

My favorite art tip!

Step one: Make a layer on top of your drawing and fill it completely with white

Step two: Set the blending mode to “Color”. It’ll make the entire image greyscale, and you can check your values, or work underneath (This helps me pick a variety of colour combinations)

e.x.

A graphic depicting a digital art tutorial. A cartoon drawing with bright colours is in a panel. An art program's layers are shown, with the handwritten words: "Create New Layer". The next panel is whited out. The written words: "fill with white". Then: "Set blending mode to "Colour"." The next panel shows the cartoon drawing now in greyscale. Written on the image: "Always check your values! " Four smaller panels are shown, with the original cartoon drawing, an edited version with higher contrast, the next two panels are greyscaled versions of the previous two, showing the difference in values.
Another graphic depicting a digital art tutorial. Reads: "I like to work in greyscale, to vary my colour choices." An art program's layers are shown, with the handwritten words: "You can toggle visibility." Four panels of the same drawing depict the Pokémon Happiny. The first two panels are in greyscale. The next panel has vibrant colours and shading. "Versus" The panel after it has more plain colours. Text reads: "I pretty much just pick colours at random. Feeling them out." "Keeping in mind: Green compliments Red. Orange compliments Blue. Purple compliments Orange." A sample image depicts a yellow eye, with an arrow pointing out the yellow and another arrow pointing out the line of purple that shades it.

tbh I saw this on twitter, and wanted to contribute Hope it’s helpful to someone!

I made a how-to viddy to show a sooper quick way to remove a color cast from a gif in Photoshop.  To make a really pretty gif, you’ll need to do hue & saturation adjustments on a per-color basis, but if you just want a gif not to be extremely purple (as in this example) or extremely red (lookin’ at you, Xuanwu), this will do the trick.

Cool tip for Dry Erase Boards!

Most of us have one, or more. For lists, chores, or even doodles. And inevitably, some jackass (you) used permanent marker on it.

No worries. Grab a black dry erase pen. Mark OVER the permanent marker. Now erase. The ink of the dry erase pen has a solvent that keeps it from fast drying. It also reactives the permanent markers ink to a wet state.

Also if you want to use one as a canvas for say sharpie art, this is a great technique to erase mistakes, or take out small parts. Used to work in a call center and I have probably a stack of 20 of these dry erase boards, all with sharpie art on em.
