Just spent three wonderfull days of plein air painting from three wonderfull locations; Pulpit Rock in the Shoalhaven and two locations in Tumut on the Goobragandra river. Mused over this quote today by Georges Braque…”The painter thinks in forms and colours. The aim is not to reconstitute an anecdotal fact but to constitute a pictorial fact.” The image is a work in progress from a smaller plein air painting (right) done a few weeks ago up on the Wodi Wodi track. Mixed media on paper, two 106x75cm. “Abstraction is the evaluation of form perfectly understood. Objectively abstracting is the transposition (transmutation) of the phenomenon observed into simpler, ‘clearer, more evocative and organically final terms. Subjectively abstracting is an ability to evaluate events observed into a new and synthetic order. Since every art manifestation is essentially an abstraction (even photography is a mechanical abstraction of three-dimensional events on the two-dimensional plane), since the very nature of art rests on abstracting, then it is only logical to pursue the course of abstracting fearlessly to its logical end instead of evading it under the disguise of charm or of being true to nature or true to life”

This little interior was started last year in a workshop I ran with the excellent year 10 students at @thekingsschool_official. I finished it this week in time to hang beside my students from the Saturday class I teach at ArtEst. The show opens tomorrow from 6-8pm, all welcome, @artestartschool , 67-69 Lords Rd Leichhardt. A portion from all sales is going to raise funds for the pro-democracy protesters in Myanmar/Burma. The painting is oil on canvas, 30x30cm. #australianartist #vincentvangogh #myanmar

Thanks to everyone who came along to my plein air painting workshop last week as a part of my show with Hal Pratt at Clifton School of Arts. Had to fight back a bit of anxiety to show again at Clifton School of Arts with fellow artist Hal Pratt and his lovely watercolours. The opening this last Friday 20 Nov was 5 years to the day that the terrible accident happened. So glad she is still with us and going stronger than ever with her art and family. (This is a old post but I just wanted to share my love for Buffy!)
Now that Buffy and I have done some chores with the help of our respite worker, and had a nice walk out on the balcony to inspect all the plants - it’s time for a short rest! Chronic fatigue is rough. But once we’ve rested we’ll be uploading some more depop listings!!! And tonight we’re working on some surprise new items I hope to launch next month.
P.S. Buffy is my fluffball companion and insists in being a part of everything I do, so I should finally start giving her co-creative credit, hehe. xo
