Going from UAF to Omniverse can be very whiplashy. If they ever reboot the classic timeline I think they should focus on swapping Ben’s characterization.

It’s strange to watch UAF Ben be supportive and sensitive about Gwen and Kevin’s relationship, and then have Omniverse Ben act like the two being lovey dovey is gross.

Ken 10 is one of my favourite episodes of a show period. It’s so cool and sets up kind of what I want for Kenny’s character in this movie. Essentially he’s Og Ben 10 but having to live in the shadow of Ben 10,000. 

Okay to explain what’s going on with old Ken 10 I’m going to outline the first scene.

Kenny and Ben (Kenny is about 17 and I guess Ben would be about 50?) are fighting the big rhino boy, Exo-Skull. Ben is doing the majority of the work while Kenny is showboating and flirting with people in the crowd. Ben is fine with this because he knows what it’s like to be young with an omnitrix and what a showboat he was at that age.Ben nearly finishes the fight when he stops suddenly and falls to his knees, the omnitrix times out very fast and Ben turns human again and begins clutching his chest and groaning. Kenny realizes what’s going on and manages to get exo-skull to the null void but not without considerable effort and nearly being beaten himself. Kenny turns human and runs over to Ben.

Ben is out of the picture as big hero now it’s up to Kenny to be alien Jesus. Ben unlocks full master control for Kenny (all aliens, though based transformations) and assumes a “man in the chair” role, kinda like Bruce Wayne in batman Beyond. Problem is Ben has done a kind of poor job teaching Kenny about the omnitrix in the hope of keeping him safe and Kenny has always had Ben to help him out and never realized how poor his abilities really were. Kenny is now having to fill MASSIVE shoes and is experiencing a huge crime wave because people know Ben is out of commission. Kenny is getting more and more stressed because of this and Ben is doing a terrible job of coaching in part because he’s bitter he can’t be out there helping. This culminates in Kenny doing something drastic.

Kenny is having to stop Animo who is setting off a DNA bomb and has a rouge To’kustar (Way Big) under his control who is causing MASSIVE civilian casualties. Kenny is trying desperately to stop Animo and the Way Big while Ben shouts in his ear the exact sequence of Aliens Kenny should turn into. Kenny starts panicking and sees the Way Big about to step on a family and animo is about to detonate his DNA bomb Kenny realizes he’s too out of his element and shouts “ALIEN X”. In an instant the Way big is gone and Animo’s bomb and gorilla body is gone leaving only the floating head in a jar. Alien X floats in the air for a moment then his eyes dart up towards the sky and he’s gone.

Since that day Kenny has been floating somewhere in the universe, trapped as Alien X. And Ben has never forgiven himself for pushing Kenny so far without giving him the tools he needed to succeed.

Part 2 will outline more, definitely the confrontation between Kenny and Ben and maybe some stuff about Kai

Side note about that I currently have very little ideas for Kai so please feel free to send me your Kai ideas! I really want to include her to give omniverse some due credit and to give some more woman and also POC representation! Idk if I’ll use your idea in specific because it might not fit in with the ideas I have for the rest of the peeps but still send them I want to talk abt Ben 10 so bad.

What’s up idiots, I’m alive and hyper fixated once again

I’ve had the idea for a Ben 10,000 movie since 2017 in the vein of Old man Logan for a while and I figured rather than stay up at night I’d start releasing ideas for my MASTERPIECE that will NEVER get made. Plan is to release this in a series of sorts and hopefully not lose interest halfway through. First part though will just be overall plot, then characters and then little scenes that I haven’t totally recreated in my head multiple times a day for weeks. This would be most in the vein of Ben 10,000 from OG Ben 10 but with aliens and plot points cherry picked from UAF and Omniverse to kind of make a cohesive plot but also we’re ignoring Ultimate Ben (gross) and partially omitting Ben 10k (kind of).

THE PLOT

Earth is fucked . Kevin turned evil again and is locked in the null void, Gwen had big magic responsibilities with the anadites + general magical creatures and had to leave Earth to go lead/protect them, Kenny is MIA, Devlin is somewhere (will elaborate more on that later) and Ben hasn’t been able to use the Omnitrix in years due to a life threatening malfunction that made azimuth have to permanently remove the core. Because all the main heroes have bounced, died or been depowered the sick optimistic blade runner future of Ben 10,000 has turned into regular blade runner future with grime and everything being sad and crime. Ben is super depressed because literally he can’t do anything about it, but one day he returns home to find Azmuth with a cure for the omnitrix sickness but also terrible news, Vilgax escaped the null void and has Albedo’s ultimatrix by way of murdering the wee man. Vilgax is fully unhinged now, wanting only blood and revenge. Ben and Azmuth have to get the band back together as it were by rescuing Kevin from the Null void, convincing Gwen to return to Earth to help and help Kenny return back to human form. And YES they will do this all in the rust bucket that has a vague imprint of Grandpa Max’s brain as an AI.

Ben will have REAL master control for the film (switching aliens super fast for combos than give me as an adult literal chills) and there will be cute old man jokes for some of the aliens (Ben turns into Humangasaur and when he grows his joints pop lmao). My goal for this movie is to do justice to the OG Ben 10,000 while also acknowledging and indulging in the great aspects of the other iterations. So basically fan service, I want fan service.

Okay that’s a really terrible and vague way to start this hopefully once I get into the characters more this will make sense okay bye :)

Okay this one is gonna be a big different, in case you’re a FOOL who didn’t watch Omniverse the ultimate aliens were only used by albedo so they were only used as villains, this is conjunction with omniverse’s more campy tone means I’m not gonna give these guys official scores, just a thumbs up or a thumbs down. 

Ultimate Rath

I LOVE me some Rath, and I think this design is perfect for an evil Rath BUT for an ultimate Rath? This is better than shit like ultimate waybig but it also doesn’t really add anything to rath other than a sick jacket. Because the fights weren’t really changed between ultimate and vanilla Rath I’m gonna have to give this homie a thumbs down however purely for aesthetic reasons I still like him.  I think Ultimate Rath in omniverse could’ve had something stupidly cool like a third arm coming out his upper back so he could either his guys 3 times or hit people from the back or just give him hulk powers with the angrier he gets the larger and stronger he gets. Also I think making him more lumbering is more intimidating but Rath’s whole shtick was being a super buff super aggressive (tony the) tiger and taking away his aethletism also takes away some of his essence which maybe they were going for in a “pure evil alien” deal, but I’m still gonna have to say thumbs down.

Ultimate Artciguana

I think Omniverse did good by including Arctiguana in the show at all unlike SOME SHOW who might’ve INCLUDED HIM IN THE OPENING CREDITS AND NEVER USED HIM but unfortunately they made his design look like like an alien freeze lizard and more like a large blue (Jamaican for some reason?) turtle. Ultimate Arctiguana however improves on omniverse’s fuck up and makes him look both intimidating and campy, I like how he has blastoise like freeze guns and that weird moustache thingy. The ice coming out also reminds me of the mountain the grinch lived on. The deep purples and reds and blues really sells this one for me. Good job omniverse.

Ultimate Gravattack

This design is AWESOME, I love the uneven symmetry on the spikes and the little floating mini me planets and his lack of legs since he controls gravity so much. I definitely think they copied geodude for this but ultimate Gravattack looks cool and intimidating and even has a bit of the melancholy going on with him losing limbs due to his power. 

Ultimate Albedo (Galvan)

Ultimate Albedo is literally just MODOK from Marvel comics but uglier. There’s not much else I can say, I guess I like all the eyes coming off him but I think a cooler and funnier route to go would have ultimate Galvans either get super jacked or maybe be smarter than any being in the universe and then Albedo realizes his plan is so small and pointless he just gives up. This one is super subjective but I don’t really care for parodies that are just the thing they’re parodying but in a different context like showing master chiefs helmet in Duke Nukum and Duke calling anyone who wears it a pussy.

Okay that’s all the ultimates for omniverse, I think the omniverse team really missed something in not making Albedo turn into ultimate feedback and have a pikachu Raichu conflict in Ben but let’s be real that probably would’ve been dumb.

Rating all the ultimate aliens on a score out of 9, 4 points given for fights being improved, 3 points given for how cool the ultimate alien is and 2 points given for how sad they become due to a weaponization of their form. Sounds good? Lets go boys 

Ultimate Cannonbolt

I feel like I’m being super lenient here, Ultimate cannon bolt like Ultimate Big chill is just an echo fighter but somehow Ultimate Cannonbolt is lazier. Literally just a reskin. The spikes on his shell functionally do nothing, no one gets stuck to them and then smashed every time they get rolled around cannonbolt and no debris gets caught to give him an extra punch while he’s rolling. The only thing I moderately like is the grey and white colours but even that is very boring as it looks less like a genetic change and more like a suit of armour Cannonbolt put on (would’ve been cool for that magic armour to make normal cannonbolt look like this). The best route they could’ve gone down is to again take notes from the reboot and have Cannonbolt have a huge spike down the middle of him like a buzzsaw. BOOOOOOOO Ultimate Cannonbolt BOOOOOO.

Ultimate Wildmutt

How the fuck do you make an ultimate form that is less cool that the original form?? His design is so fucking lazy, red with a tail and white bits? THATS IT??? His new powers are one, tail and two, talking and the talking takes away the cool part of wildmutt, it was awesome to see Ben and others communicate and so cute when wildmutt would smile or be sad and the only reason ultimate wildmutt talks is to make a joke about wildmutt not being able to announce his name. Also why the fuck did the evolution give wildmutt the ability to talk? HOW DID LANGUAGE HELP WILDMUTT IN A WORST CASE SCENARIO FOR 1 MILLION YEARS?? The fights are the worst of all this, OG Wildmutt had this super great balance of strength and agility as well as quadrupedal beatdowns with quick uses of bipedal punches and shit, Ultimate Wildmutt attacks more like a lion which is infinitely more boring. The only reason he has a ½ for melancholy is that his intro episode was such a fucking downer that I permenetaly associate the two. If I was making Ultimate Wildmutt I would’ve given him three heads like Cerberus and maybe Benwolf like howls. This form was such a disappointment I didn’t think it was even possible to be worse than Ultimate Cannonbolt.

Jesus Christ another stinker, while being at least better that Cannonbolt and Wildmutt Ultimate Way big is a still a bore. Really all his changes amount to is bigger, bluer and more beams. The nicest thing I can say about ultimate way big is that him throwing energy discs looks pretty cool. If I was making ultimate way big I would’ve had this blades glow and shoot out long energy slashes and play more into his size, make the ground shake with every word he says, make earthquakes happen and MASSIVE craters form with every step he takes also make him chuck mountains and shit. I know ultimate way big was only used to show how dangerous the Dagon was but c’mon you could at least make a cool fight before he gets his ass beat.

Woof this was a dogshit batch, the problem I think is that Ultimates like Swampfire and Echo echo were so cool and different that it makes the lazy ones look worse by contrast. I bet if they had just gone the reskin route on all of them I wouldn’t have such a problem with these 3 dunces. Okay so I’m also gonna do the Omniverse’s aliens so watch out for that to take up an obnoxious amount of room on your dash soon.

You all knew it was coming, I’m ranking the UAF ultimate aliens however, unlike all of my other posts where I just scream and make up rules as I go on what is bullshit and what isn’t, I’m gonna make actual criteria scores. There is 3 places the ultimate aliens will get scored on, 1. How much better the fight scenes get because of the ultimateification, the whole point of ultimate aliens is to show off lit fights with powered up aliens so obvs you gotta get points here, aliens can score a possible 4/4 points for this. The second score area is how FUCKING SWEET IT IS, this is very similar to the first point but imagine it’s the less mature version of it, so on paper how cool does the alien now look this will be scored out of 3. Finally the final piece, the melancholy score, this is a weird one I fully admit but despite how cool ultimate aliens are I always had a weird feeling about them, it’d be like making your dog a teenage mutant terminator dog, sure it’s cool but also you’ve perverted it’s DNA and form possibly to an unrecognizable state just so it can be a better and stronger fighter, a living weapon. The melancholy area is scored out of 2. With that all sorted out lets begin in order.

Ultimate Humungousaur

FUCKING SWEET: 3/3

Melancholy: ½

Overall score: 7/9

Ultimate humungousaur is fucking ridiculous in all the best ways, there’s absolutely no need for a giant spiked turtle shell, no reason for a mace on his tail and no science behind his GUN HANDS but that’s the beauty of him, he’s just over the top and it’s great. I think the only ways to really improve him for me would be to use his shell more as an offensive weapon like have him retract in there and do a spinny thing (or get rid of the spikes, I wouldn’t dock points for that) and to give him the omniverse head and metal tubes around his body to make it more apparent how high the cost that having guns for hands really is just to boost up the melancholy feeling.

Ultimate Swampfire

If it wasn’t apparent from me making an entire post about this guy I love ultimate swamp fire and think he’s probably the best ultimate alien there is. I already went over how him going from having bright greens and reds and yellows to having dead brown wood covering 90% of him, blue napalm goo covering the last 10% and the fact that he’s honestly unrecognizable as Swampfire meaning that returning to his own species would probably result in his at worst, murder and at best, permanent shunning really anchors in that SAD feeling so lets talk fights. 

His bulky design just says power and the blue flames and sound effects they use for it really cements that in, my only complaint is that when he runs he looks STUPID, I would’ve preferred him lumber and be a bit like the terminator or Jason Voorhees as this unstoppable monster that slowly comes at you and will destroy you. Awesome design and execution

Ultimate Spidermonkey

This guy right here redeemed Spidermonkey for me, rather than feeling like tiny nuisance for the bad guys he felt like this huge agile monster. I love how his jaw splits for the web to come out and how his spider legs just LAUNCH him everywhere. Also those spider legs make him have more from above attacks which hardcore improves the fighting. I do see that he should probably get a 2/2 on the melancholy scale as again he’s unrecognizable as a spidermoneky but because I see chimps and gorillas in the same animal group my own chimp brain still recognizes him as a monkey even if his species wouldn’t. Another sick design and I love how this one is simple but works well.

Ultimate Big Chill

Okay I like Ultimate big chill but really talk he’s just a echo fighter of big chill, a nice one though! I love the reds for this character we’re so used to seeing as blue, he’s very aesthetically pleasing and seeing him breath fire is lit (hee hee) but really they couldn’t do anything else? Maybe have him shoot the flames into the sky and make hail/snow for cover? Or even give him a fire trail while he flies. I like his design but also recognize that he’s p lazy. If i where making him I would’ve made him black on the outside to enhance his ominous outside feeling but keep the inside red to contrast it, I would also make it so his fire breath also blew strong winds to be able to knock enemies back and give his attacks more weight.

 Ultimate Echo echo

Ultimate Echo echo is a good one, it makes a normally dorky alien actually look intimidating and imposing and he had some crazy impressive feats like CRUSHING ultimate Kevin. Getting the bad stuff out of the way I think that Ultimate Echo echo makes the fights look cooler but mechanically they’re pretty much the same, Ben makes a bunch of sound creating duplicates and/or screams and beats the competition the only real difference being that Ultimate Echo echo is stronger and can fly meaning he can do some superman shit. Where echo echo makes up for this is the brutal and more robotic fights, Ultimate echo echo has his melancholy and fucking sweet hand in hand. I think objectively Ben ripping a piece of himself off and hucking it at a bad guy is more serious and sick gnarly then him making another cute boy to fight with him and it highlights this lonely ultimate echo echo gives off, he was once surrounded by tens or hundreds but now he alone. Even ultimate echo echo’s voice gives off this isolated quality as any touch of emotion is gone its just the logic behind the words. He’s haunting and brutal and another one of my faves.

Birds fly, fish swim, I’m a high functioning moron with both a superiority and inferiority complex and Kevin will always mutate into a scary mutant boy, but not all these mutations are equal because I said so. Lets kill more time while my gamers thumb heals (yes that’s a real thing and yes I hate that it’s called that) and RANK EM.

6. Alien Force mutation

This guy is at the end for 2 reasons. First being it’s pretty boring, homeboy get’s an entireful of omnitrix energy and all that happens is that he gets rough skin? Having this power swap didn’t even become interesting  because it was always surface level “oh I’m big uggo now” it would’ve been cooler to show practical problems to this like his wooden legs catch on fire or he has to wash up with WD-40 to prevent himself from rusting, he’s just ugly and can make hammer fists PLUS he owns an ID mask so he can just be normal?? I’d like it better if he put on the teenage mutant ninja turtle get up with a fedora and trench coat. Second reason for it being shit is that it doesn’t make much sense, with the other mutations it followed a set logic, Kevin absorbs multiple flavours of alien transformation energy so he transforms into a fusion dance of them, so why this time did he just become seemingly earth materials? Is it because he absorbs the matter so much it’s in his DNA?? DOES HOMIE HAVE DIAMOND AND WOOD IN HIS GENES???? It just seems lazy in design and usage HOWEVER we did get some sick episodes like the one where Kevin tries to reverse his shit with DarkStar, that was dope. If I was making this I’d have Kevin do the halfer omnitrix mutations when he absorbed stuff and always a little bit stays over i.e he absorbs stone and get’s the stone bit on half of him and then the other gets one big chill hand and half a face but normally it’s just the hand and half a face meaning that there’s some stuff the ID mask can’t cover up), this would’ve made more monstrous looks for Kevin and given him more powers AND for cartoon Network WAY more toys.

5. Ultimate Kevin

Okay I get what they were going for here and before I get into criticisms I want to give some due credit. I appreciate that he’s supposed to be an even MORE patchwork version of the OG Kevin mutation but even stronger and more unhinged, and honestly I like seeing the LODESTAR shoulder poking out of the swamp fire arm BUT with this due credit comes I think due criticism which is that this design looks ugly and stupid. How can you create this ugly motherfucker and not make him one, include all 10 original aliens in the design and two not make him look scary?? I get the feeling the designers gave Kevin the cloak to make him look brooding and menacing but it really just looks like my man is into LARPing. Also why does he have just a couple brainstorm legs dangling where his legs are supposed to be? All the other designs kept the legs the legs and the arms the arms so why for this one did they change it? It doesn’t look horrific or anything it just looks bad to me, like they couldn’t think of any way to include brainstorm so they just tossed the legs there.I think the most damning design choice they made was fucking up his head. If I was making it I would’ve gave him a more Kevin face (instead of Jetray the ugliest alien ben has) and given him alien eyes, maybe one echo echo and one big chill?( I know most of the UAF aliens have similar eyes but you gotta keep some aspect of the eyes thing, especially if they’re both just green.) I think the face and eyes thing really helps show the humanity but also the lack of it. Or they could to the opposite and keep the jetray face but give him normal Kevin eyes to show the humanities. Finally the mismatched feet are just odd and what’s even odder (more odd?) is that he walks just fine! I TRIP JUST WALKING IN MY SKETCHERS AND THIS GUY IS FINE SUPPORTING 10x HS NORMAL WEIGHT ON 2 MISMATCHED FEET HE’S NEVER USED?? This design went hard but when you go too hard you just have a boner in biology and look stupid.

4. Omniverse Kevin (old)

Honestly for the most part this design looks good, the colour contrast is nice and I like how his head is Kevin straight but with red evil eyes. The curse of this design is that half the aliens are more “serious” aliens (Grav attack, Feedback, crash hopper, astrodactyl and shock squatch) and then the other half are the jokey more fun aliens (Bloxx, Peskydust, the worst, ball weevil) so his whole tone is kinda inconsistent. I think for this one they should’ve gone with AtomiX for the bloxx arm, dual astrodactyl wings, whampires head thing (or toe picks) and just remove the two extra arms. This is nitpicking but how does Kevin even have the extra arms? THere’s no forearms/ spidermonkey DNA going on so it seems weird to have the extra arms. I’m being mean though, this design is aesthetically pleasing just a bit too all over the place.

3. Kevin 11,000

This design isn’t bad per say, it’s problem stems from having Kevin call himself “Kevin 11,000″ and then add like 2 extra alien powers. I like the cthulhu like tentacles and the upgrade one jutting out of the four arms arm also the spooky heatblast head is badass. But c’mon guys, he still has those 2 wildmutt arms? What’s he even use them for? Ass scratchers?? This is a cool design but promised too much and gave us very little, that being said for a like 3 minute max screen time it’s an impressive design.

2. Rooter Kevin

This one honestly shouldn’t be this high but it represents something I really hoped for in the original series which was to make a new fusion Kevin with Ben’s new aliens and this is a good design! I like the Eye guy eyes used as cannonbolt’s arm armour, I love the use of Way Big’s head fin and give him an excuse for size and strength and that this actually managed to walk the line of having Kevin’s face be recognizable yet fucked up. My only problem with it is that BenWolf (Blitzwolfer if you’re wrong) is only in Kevin’s right eyeball which is a bit lazy, i’d’ve liked the tail to be it but that’s just me. Major kudos also for having a Kevin mutation while also not giving him double arms (no alien force doesn’t get credit because this one was a stylistic choice and alien force’s was most likely a “ooooohhhh but that’d be hard :(((((   )

1. Kevin 11

OOOOOH MAMA THAT’S A GOOD DESIGN. This patchwork design looks intimidating and powerful yet also maintains this weird uniformness by having a main anchor point of the design be Fourarms so our brains recognize the familiar fourarms but also seeing the strange additions making it walk the line between looking normal and monstrous. I enjoy how he uses the Wildmutt arms to help him run because his upper body is so massive. I like how he has that vestigial RipJaws dangler but for some reason can also swap his jaws out for RipJaws’s kinda like a real angler fish. The mismatched eyes are also awesome and I’d be really curious to see his line of sight. I only wish that his upgrade and ghostfreak parts were used more but even as just aesthetic pieces it’s fine. The only real dumb part is that he has normal feet instead of the XLR8 balls so his super speed is kinda weird to have but it’s fine, probably has to do with the muscles inside his legs anyway. I think real care went into this design and I like how Kevin has Ben’s powers filling the “evil man with heroes power cliche, but kinda subverts it by making them 10% as strong but also letting him use combos on the fly to make up for it. In short, good design. 

Alien force aliens too strong, me don’t like, gonna change to make more interesting fights and higher stakes. Let’s end this exercise in proposing changes to a kids show that’s been off the air for like 7 years.

Chromastone’s species is related to Diamondhead’s and serves as a back up to all the minds of Tetrax’s species so I’d say he’s a sort of messiah for the Diamondhead species and I think that should be reflected in how Ben uses Chromastone. What if, instead of pure “absorb energy show out rainbows through hands” Ben had to concentrate to ensure the energy is coming out of his hands as opposed to any other of his pink crystals? I think possibly a “calm demeanour” restriction to actually use his powers foreshadows Chromastone’s actual role and purpose and forces Ben to develop maturity and could maybe provide a cool scene where someone is kidnapped that Ben super cares about (probably Julie but I’d also love this with Kevin) and he uses Chromastone with deadly precision because he’s at this weird state of hyper rage calm and ultimate concentration and is DECIMATING whoever is keeping the kidnapped person hostage. For everyday use this would just mean Chromastone does more absorbing and can act as an energy sponge more, he could still shoot the lasers back he would just do less and they would have to be more accurate, putting more stress and importance on each shot. Second big change is Chromastone’s durability, I want him to be more susceptible to physical attacks when he’s more charged up with energy. I get that he’s made of probably a diamond like substance but having him invulnerable to energy and physical attacks is like that annoying twat in your class who had an everything proof shield during pretend games at recess NO TRISTAN WE CAN’T TELL ON YOU FOR THIS BUT STILL FUCK YOU WE DIDN’T EVEN WANT TO PLAY WITH YOU AND NOW LUCAS IS CRYING BECAUSE YOU’RE SUCH AN INSUFFERABLE FUCK HEAD. So the more energy Chromastone has got the more brittle he becomes meaning he can be durable or offensive but not both. This can be how Vilgax kills Chromastone also by charging him up WAY too much and Ben is freaking out so can’t expel the lasers out and then Vilgax just flicks him because the original battle was so lifeless and anticlimactic.  Also can we please have Gwen shoot a load of mana into Chromastone when they’re surrounded and then destroy everything around them, that’d be sick. 

2. Jetray

Jetray is one of the main reasons I started making these posts, in the OG series XLR8 was fast, Stinkfly could fly and heatblast had projectiles, in UAF Jetray does all of these and does them better meaning Jetray is rarely going to be in a situation where he’s out of his element. Jetray also has some of the highest bullshit levels I’ve ever seen, no need for oxygen??? Super speed in space??? GUNFIRE DURABILITY??? FUCKING LASERS???? Thats too much man. I’m taking away the Superman factor and just making him a fast flyer while also giving him the Superman blue factor and giving him a little bit of electricity. Jetray won’t be able to shoot the electricity or anything but he can zap people if he’s in direct contact with them, and of course he can do some problem solving with it like maybe holding a metal stick and using it as an cattle prod or Kevin absorbs some metal and Jetray supercharges him making him basically Mjonir. There should also be a cool down on the electricity so not everything Jetray does is going to be zapping fools, there’ll also be just good old Jetray aerial combat. Just as a final little change I want to change the actually design to the one in the bottom right of this concept picture.

Tbh Jetray is super ugly and I’d rather him have this buggy face instead of the thumb with eyes and a mouth he currently has.

3. Humungousaur

I am admittedly harsh with Alien force for it’s heinous crime of not being the show I watched when I was a child and thus less smart and full of criticism and anxiety and because of this I really try and give credit where credit is due with alien force but humungousaur is something I can’t give credit for. I know that the show is unrealistic and doesn’t have to adhere to normal physics but even in a world with a magic alien watch that has a person change mass and size, having humungousaur gain mass doesn’t make sense because humungousaur’s species don’t all wear those magic alien watches so I think they should take the omniverse route and quietly sweep his size changing under the rug. In addition I think they should take notes from the… take notes in design from the r-… TAKE NOTES FROM THE REBOOTED DESIGN . 

Writing that makes the old man in me scream because the reboot Ben has FUCKED so many aliens (rip XLR8 & Wildvine) but they really did good with humungousaur. Really the design isn’t that different but I LOVE the black scales and I think it’d accent my proposed power change really which is to have those black spike form claws or triceratops horns or the normal mace on humungousaur’s tail essentially giving him the necrosword from marvel but with more dinosaur themes. (Real quick I only watch clips of the rebooted Ben 10 and I did see some pictures while writing this of humungousaurs with swords and shit on their tails so maybe I’m ripping this off but what are you gonna do huh? Call a cop?? I’ll just have sex with them  ). This power change I think will give ben more routes of attack like  headbutts using horns or tail swipes with the mace or even making all the black spikes go on his hand and unleashing a BEAT DOWN on someone. Honestly Humungousaur like Goop is a good boy who didn’t really require a change it was just something that bothered me more than something on a kids show should bother someone.

4. Alien X

Ah Alien X, basically the antithesis to this whole time sink I’ve forced upon myself. Okay another cop out but Alien X was a really really good concept, it’s weird that the universe personified as DNA but who cares, this literal god has proper balances to ensure he doesn’t break the show and they used it sparingly enough to make sure it never felt cheap and always had weight. The fact that Gwen and Kevin had to both use keys to activate Alien X was a realistic and cool decision and gave a sense of actual danger when using it. The problem with all this though is that Ben then only really has 9 aliens because Alien X is never used, so my proposed change is to make Alien X the 11th alien and just pop LODESTAR in his place for 10th, EVERYTHING else would be the same just Ben would have access to Lodestar earlier and since LodeStar is a good good boy I don’t think he needs any changes.

Thanks everyone for reading this hot mess of a series, if weren’t clued off from the title alone theres 2 other parts in this series which are probably better because I used all the aliens I had ideas for power changes first and then went “shit, there’s still 4 left”.

I think the alien force aliens are a bit too capable and this makes battles less about smart ways to use aliens and more about using aliens to punch the bad guys. So i’m gonna remove powers or change them or something to make them more interesting to me. There’s a part one to this but who honestly who cares let’s start.

I think Swampfire’s problem is that his abilities almost seem like the old Adam West’s Batman utility belt if there’s a problem he’s got shark repellent or some equivalent to solve it, I think just removing his random bullshit moves is enough to raise the stakes. In addition to a bullshit-ectomy I also want his regeneration to be WAY less powerful, in his first scene of regeneration a vine shoots out from Swampfire’s stump (real quick, I work in a hospital for school and for amputees amputated limbs the actual word they use is “stump” and I have no idea how I feel about that) and reconnects with the severed arm to put it back together that seems a little too much for me so what if instead Swampfire could reconnect the limb by sticking it back on Deadpool style OR reach out to any plant life and make a sort of prosthetic from whatever plant was grabbed and it would either stay like that for the remainder of the transformation or slowly turn into a swamp fire arm. I think his gives stakes to Swampfire getting injured and could make for some interesting battles like maybe Ben fortifies himself with bark for a pseudo armour or has to figure out how to open a door with two tree branches he’s using as arms. I’m also VERY open to the idea of someone using a severed swamp fire arm as a makeshift flamethrower while Ben has maybe a tree stump shield arm and his regular flamethrower swamp fire arm.

2. Spidermonkey

Okay I’m cheating here, Spidermonkey is a very conservatively designed alien, he’s basically ugly 6-armed spider-man and I personally was disappointed when Ben would turn into him so I think he actually needs spicing up. Having Spidermonkey be able to change colours allows him to have a greater amount of attacks like sneaky ones or the option to become very brightly coloured and lure enemies away from places, it also gives him powers that the other Spider-man Miles Morales does and considering Spider-monky’s planet is full of aliens who find him a delicacy the colour changing would help there. I know the whole point was to take away abilities but Spidermonkey seems pretty boring when every compared to Fourarms because at least he’s got size and hulk jumps on his side, spidermonkey I think just needs a small push to be god tier.

Okay real talk I HATE Brainstorm, I think he’s ugly, sounds so dumb and his powers are actually infuriating and make me so glad that Ben is a dumbass and never turns into this thing even though he seems to be the best choice with his insane amount of powers (brainstorm literally lifted a train and train tracks with his mind yet our home boy thinks big dinosaur is the way to go??). If Swampfire is 1960′s batman Brainstorm is the old Superman where he just pulls powers out of his ass and saves the day with them. I want Brainstorm to just be a smart crab who has decent electrical attacks (probably bottom rung of the electrical aliens but still viable because of smarts) I also want him to not talk. I mean it, I think having an immensely smart alien who can plan out really complex shit but not be able to communicate with Gwen or Kevin would be super interesting like maybe they have to use morse code with brainstorm clicking his claws or he has to try writing with the dumb claws and also he can be sweet with Julie like he can’t say “i love you” but he could give her a rose or someshit, it’s more interesting AND i don’t have to listen to “INDUBITABLY MY FRONTAL CRANIUM HAS EXPANDED SIGNIFICANTLY PERHAPS US COMPATRIOTS SHALL CELEBRATE BY CONSUMING FERMENTED YEAST LIQUID AND CUCUMBERS BRINED IN A SOLUTION OF DIHYDROGEN MONOXIDE AND SODIUM CHLORIDE!” In short: fuck Brainstorm

The FOOLS at Cartoon Network never thought to consult ME THE SMARTEST MAN ALIVE when designing Ben’s new roster of aliens and I think they made them a touch too capable. Having overpowered aliens really isn’t a problem, the threats are bigger this series so it makes sense to boost up Ben’s abilities but I think in doing so they made Ben not have to out think his problems as much and allowed him to just smash. Example, if in the OG series Ben had to fight a big guy probs Fourarms or Diamondhead is the best choice but if he gets Ripjaws he seems screwed BUT he’ll usually figure a way around it, maybe move the battle to water, maybe play possum then vore him IDK. In Alien Force though, if Ben is fighting a big guy I can’t really think of scenario where turning into one alien is much of an advantage over another (in the first original roster, they remedied this a bit in the  second and 3rd seasons). So today in another time wasting exercise I’m going to go through AF’s original 10 aliens and put in changes to make them (in my opinion) a bit more balanced to possibly make the show more interesting.

1. Big Chill

Big Chill is p obvious an homage to the mothman and I like that, I think sticking with just “cold big bug man” is good enough, in adding intangibility to the mix it makes Ben able to escape any fight relatively easy and I think it would be cooler if Big Chill was a glass cannon type. I know it’s a cliche but the heat weakness makes it so Ben’s alien who can solve problems like fires or maybe explosions also have to be careful in those situations, I also added the sunlight thing to make it so every time he smacks the watch during the day there’s a chance he has a weak alien and has to do the nick cage ghost rider thing of crawling into the shadows to use his abilities best. 

2. Echo Echo

Current power set:

2. Near infinite duplication with no hive mind (one dies? No worries m8)

Revised power set:

2. Near infinite duplication with no hive mind EXCEPT each echo echo can split once and each one after that gets smaller, weaker and dumber

Okay we all saw the Jim Carrey Grinch movie and low key wanted to eat a glass bottle after it, so we also know how an echo works: diminishing results. I think having one or 2 full sized echo echos have to command and army of weaker tiny idiot echo echos would be really fun, like maybe there’s a rly small vent so Ben has to multiple like 8 times to this thing is basically a 3 year old who’s the size of a beer can and can maybe bust down a wooden door or maybe all hope is lost, Vilgax is about to win a battle but a very smol very determined echo echo BLASTS in whatever the closest thing Vilgax has to an ear and the battle is won. I don’t exactly know how weak the echo echos should get per each split  because tiny morons with destruction powers is funny. One thing that also might be cute is the intelligence thing is also based on Ben so they’ll go around blabbing his secrets or trying to eat mr.smoothie signs. I just like the idea of Ben Gwen and Kevin picking up like 20 baby echo echos and Ben being like “ur my babies and I’d kill for you but I swear to GOD if you tell them about my real doll dressed like Xylene I will KILL YOU”.

3. Goop

Goop is a good boy, just the super strength I think makes him OP. I’m TOTALLY open to him being able to stick like a brick to himself and use it to punch people like that but I think a pile of goo held only together with a spaceship shouldn’t have super or really any strength. Maybe also once Ben learns this he stops making fingers with Goop because they really can’t do anything. I’d also just want him to be easier to separate and then get weaker because of it. Maybe theres an episode were a piece of Goop get’s left behind and it grows into a goop Ben because it think it’s him or Ben loses a finger in human form. Again over all fine though, he’s a cute boy.

3. Ultimate Ben

I like to imagine the writers room when they were coming up with ultimate Ben

Writer 1: “okay so we have a hero who’s main power is transforming into other alien species and using their unique physiology and anatomy to have- by earth standards- super powers and showing off creative and fun alien designs. Plus now with the introduction of the ultimatrix we can show off battle hardened ultimate aliens, perverting and weaponizing the fan favourites into tools of destruction. How do we capture the magic of the original Ben 10,000 while also incorporating all the interesting ideas we’ve come up with?”

Writer 2: “Uh, an unremarkable dad bod with a shitty beard doing backflips with a touch of inflation kink?”

Writer 1: “…”

Writer 2: “also his shirt is maybe the old watch symbol?”

Writer 1: “PERFECT”

In short I think the design was lazy as fuck and agree with Kuro that he should’ve had a Kevin 11 thing where he could galador his body parts into other aliens. Also him knowing one shield spell was dumb considering Gwen can barely use hers at the best of times.

2. Ben 10k (omniverse)

Not too much to say about this Ben, I liked the biomnitrix, I liked his softer voice and how he activates the watches by wonder womaning them. Most of his fusion aliens were cool and him being an insanely overpowered demi-god while still having a stereotypical TV marriage to Kai was cute. This iteration I feel was kinda trying too hard with the fans I think though, having a belt buckle that literally says “10K” is a little on the nose  and the biomnitrix is admittedly fan service-y but I feel like this design was done in earnest so I feel kind to it. Still this Ben leaves out a lot of the cool aspects of Ben 10,000 which is why our number 1 is…

1. Ben 10,000 (og)

This Ben wins HANDS DOWN for a LOT of reasons, I’m gonna divide them up into some sections because I love wasting my time.

1. Action

This Ben uses the master control function on the omnitrix to create his own fighting style that I’m just gonna call master-control-fu. Basically rather than just staying in one alien form/power for a prolonged period of time like Ben UAF and omniverse, Ben 10,000 swaps between aliens and uses their powers together to get the advantage in battle (i.e, pinned down in battle? Use spitter to push the baddie off, then buzz shock to zap the goo created by spitter). This fighting style means visually interesting battles, creative solutions to problems AND echos both back with vengeance when ben was running from Kevin and Vilgax by rapidly swapping between aliens (best part was when he escapes a null guardian’s mouth using heat blast, swaps to stink fly to fly above Vilgax, fourarms to smash onto vilgax grey matter to hop to kevin and away from him, Wildmutt to get a 360 degree view of the area and then using that knowledge, Wildvine to smash two null guardians that were of his line of sight together.) and also Grudge match when Ben taught Kevin to use alien powers together (stink fly goo+ heatblast flame = explosion). In short this Ben’s action scenes were a joy to watch and made my head spin.

2. Character design

Near PERFECTION, I love how the omnitrix is huge now and takes up Ben’s forearm in a sort of earth 2 power ring scenario, I love his aged and swoll aliens ESPECIALLY WILDMUTT which references season 2′s vulpenmancers and low key human ben is p hot. YOU DON’T NEED TO GO ULTIMATE TO HAVE COOL LOOKING ALIENS.

3. Characterization

I also loved this Ben’s characterization from his two episodes, in the first he’s a work obsessed ego-maniac and after his run in with his past self he learns that he has personal responsibilities as well as hero responsibilities and I think that was a good message and an interesting commentary on our current Ben, sure now he’s a kid and loves being a hero and sometimes puts his desire to be the hero above others but when the stakes get raised that sometimes might become all times. Anyway, point is first episode he’s all about being a saviour, he meets his past self and learns that he’s gotta do other stuff, in most shows that’d be the end of it and Ben’s future would be saved forever BUT we get another look into this Ben’s future and learn that there’s still echos of him putting his hero life above his personal one: he’s missed Kenny’s birthday multiple times and takes Kenny’s chances to be a hero away from him (in battle and by limiting his omnitrix to having less offensive heroes) and I love this take that people don’t just change in 2 seconds, you might make them aware of their flaws so they can recognize them but they’re still there and still crop up.

Overall this version of Ben’s future was made with love and while the other two have some love in there I think that the best route would’ve just to have used the OG Ben’s future as a template and put the series modifiers on top.

The updated omnitrix has no aliens not suited to combat as opposed to having Grey matter and Stinkfly in the original set

No alien has difficulty surviving and existing on earth in the new roster while in the OG Heatblast is literally made of fire and Ripjaws cant breath

When the watch updated it looked more like an typical human watch, why would a piece of ALIEN LEARNING TECHNOLOGY need to disguise itself?

I think that after Azmuth met ben in SOTO he designed the update so Ben could help more people easier and more efficiently
