I’d like to know everyone’s opinions on grad school. Like, is it worth it as a materials scientist to further my education? I think I’d like to go, but I’m working full time at the moment and there are always monetary concerns to think about.
So if you went - how hard was/is grad school for you? Would you do it again?
Or if you’re planning on it, or didn’t go, why?

So Orbital, a big satellite and rocket manufacturer, came to my space systems club and talked. I’m excited because they actually look at your skills and not just at your major. Can we stop referring to cases of misdiagnosis as child abuse? This shit is just annoying at this point.
This was a misdiagnosis. She didn’t just decide “my child is trans!” (I can understand calling it child abuse when parents insist their child is trans without medical intervention).
Her child expressed concern. She took her child to professionals. They diagnosed her child with gender dysphoria. They gave what they believed to be the appropriate treatment.
This has nothing to do with her parenting skills. We always talk about how you shouldn’t self-diagnose, but then criticize parents/people when they actually take the advice of professionals? Fuck that.
Would people be calling it child abuse if a child said “mom I frequently feel sad for no reason” to their mother, she took them to a psychologist, they were diagnosed with depression, they were given medication, and it ended up actually being bipolar disorder and they spent half a year suffering because of the wrong type of medication? Probably not.
When you say misdiagnoses are child abuse what you’re implying that when it comes to complicated mental health issues, parents should be dismissive of their children, not trust professionals more versed in medicine and psychology than they are, and prevent their child from receiving treatment.
Situations like this aren’t child abuse. They are misdiagnoses that should inspire professionals to create a diagnostic process that are more efficient at weeding out people who are not actually transgender and setting age standards for opposite-sex hormone treatment (opting instead for puberty blockers).

It’s five to ten years from now. You’re sitting in a restaurant, enjoying a lovely meal, when I walk in, accompanied by my wife, my children, and my human pet (whose genitals are covered as it enters on all fours and is wearing underpants).
If my family and I then make an order of our own at the table next to you, in what way have we infringed upon your freedom? What rational basis do you have to demand that we leave or beloved pet at home?
H*ck it all, let’s consider a more extreme scenario. It’s five to ten years from now. You’re sitting in a restaurant, enjoying a lovely meal, when I walk in, without my wife and children (for whatever reason, they haven’t accompanied me), with my surgically modified human pet (wearing a collar) being lead in by it’s leash.
My pet has been spayed/neutered (though you can’t tell because its genitals -along with its boobies if its a female- have been covered up), it has no vocal chords, and it walks on all fours not by choice, but because its toes have been removed, along with the tendons in its ankles being severed (it may also have had its thumbs and the last two segments of each finger amputated, making it easier to care for -no fingernails to trim-). Perhaps I’ve even (humanely) removed its eyes, making it less independent.
Even in this scenario, I haven’t infringed upon your liberties.

I believe the shape of their bottles are patented, so I (unfortunately) don’t think they’ll give up their packaging any time soon, especially since it’s been seven years since these designs came out.
