We needed some good news and a reason to smile! #Twins
Hey folks! This week’s PBG Money Monday is featuring She The Collection, a fashion line by Carmen Alexandra.
After being inspired by current trends but discouraged by the fit of most clothing She The Collection’s design process started. She The Collection is for the modern woman, the curvy, girly, edgy, and trendy girl of the current generation.
“I took a leap of faith to be where I am, and I am forever blessed grateful to be self employed and doing what I love. I think life is way too short to waste working a job that you don’t like or anything that makes you unhappy. You have to make yourself happy and proud in everything that you do, feed your soul and live your best life. Speak peace, love, happiness, health, and wealth over your life and they will be brought to you abundantly!"
She The Collection carries both faux fur bags and vegan suede dresses.

This week’s PBG Money Monday is featuring Onya'e Naturals, a small batch vegan natural skin care line by Jasmine Onya'e Kelley.
Jasmine, who is also I a photographer and graphic designer, started looking into the idea in college as a part of a project. She researched pure ingredients from the kitchen that would be helpful for the face, body and hair. What emerged eventually became a mini skincare line! Jasmine currently has products like a bentonite clay mask, a hydrating sweet rose toner, lavender peppermint and mint rose lip balms, and a decadent skin salve with ingredients such as coconut oil, arrowroot powder, and sweet almond oil.

Angela Davis
A scholar, activist, and philosopher, Angela Davis (born 1944) is a powerful and influential, but also often criticized public figure. She has had a place in many notable groups of people, including the National Women’s Hall of Fame, the Time’slist of the 100 most influential people in the world, and the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitive List.
Davis was born in Birmingham, Alabama, in a neighborhood that had been bombed in an attempt to drive-out the Black people who lived there. She attended a segregated school until she was able to transfer to an integrated high school in New York City. From a young age, she was educated and influenced by communists. Academically, she was particularly interested in the works of the Existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre.
It is beyond the scope to detail everything she has done–Davis is an incredibly accomplished woman–so as a brief rundown of a few of her more notable actions, she
- Participated in the radical Socialist German Student Union in East Germany
- Joined the Black Panther Party
- Joined the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee
- Joined the Che-Lumumba Club
- Earned a PhD
- Began teaching, was fired for being a Communist, was rehired, was refired
- Was declared a terrorist and on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitive List (only the third woman to be so listed)
- Was declared not guilty by an all-White jury (after an international backlash)
- Resumed teaching, but secretly, despite being officially hired? Her students were sworn to secrecy but it was an actual class.
Davis is a lesbian; she lives with her partner, fellow professor, Gina Dent.

Whether it be the expansion of knowledge on deep-sea coral species or the modern usage of online mapping tools, Black and African American scientists have played a crucial role in propelling marine science to new levels.
Here we recount some of their achievements throughout history as NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries celebrates African American History Month. We highlight three scientists who were pioneers within their fields and paved the way for modern day marine scientists, and introduce three scientists currently conducting research that improves our knowledge and ability to manage resources in marine sanctuaries.
