QAC 80 - Not Okay, But Trying: Racial Trauma amidst a Pandemic & Election | The 2020 Dumpster Fire

soo… i know that the Dumpster Fire that is 2020 America isn’t done burning yet and i’m sure there’s still plenty of fuel left to fuel the fire… you know, given who & what is fueling it. regardless, i felt a need to crawl out of the hole that i’ve inadvertently found myself in this past year to reflect aloud and air a few…. grievances… ahead of the results of the 2020 election.

as the title suggests, i’m not okay, but i’m working on it. i hope you’re doing what you can to take care of yourself, too, and as always thank you for watching! stay safe.

long time no see, Tumblr. hope you’ve been fairing this Dumpster Fire of a year better than i have. :)

So much beauty and grace in all different shades, shapes, sizes and style in one video. I love seeing my people flourishing and just being simply magical all the time ✨. I want to see this all the time with my people and everyone else of color. Embrace your magic.

The disturbing truth for anyone who needed to know.

“Shot in the head last night by police”
tonytonytony70

This is turning into another Rosewood. Where’s the national outrage ?!

Dear God… I wish I could say this is unreal, but it’s not. This is actually reality in America. I just can’t.

Ain’t it something that the police will protect the KKK when they want to protest but will bring out riot gear and dogs and tanks when black people are protesting police violence in our communities…

odinsblog:

NEWSFLASH for Keke Palmer and Pharrell Williams and any other #newBlack celeb desperate to appease their White fan base: you do NOT get to invoke Martin Luther King Jr or “people are people“ or humanism when you cannot even manage to utter simple words like “police brutality” or “racial profiling” or “structural racism” or even the word racism…and that is telling: they will speak vaguely or broadly on contemporary racial issues, but their solution is to ignore the root problem and berate anyone else who won’t join them in sticking their heads in the sand

And ProTip: Dr. King’s dream came true? I bet his dream wasn’t for anyone to patronizingly talk down to Black people who are mourning and/or justifiably protesting a torrent of racially motivated executions of UNARMED Black people like Trayvon Martin, Renisha McBride, Jonathan Ferrall, Eric Garner, Michael Brown , etc etc etc. MLKjr’s dream was for not only racial justice, but also economic justice and fairness in the criminal justice system, and so much more…does anyone seriously believe we’ve attained that?

Any Black celeb with high visibility and a national platform, who’s solution to racial profiling is “we all bleed red” is failing down on the job and failing Michael Brown and shouldn’t even be allowed to say his name, let alone Martin Luther King’s

I dare anyone to tell me how a “Kumbaya, be happy, we’re all just human, positive attitude” would have saved the lives of Trayvon Martin, Jonathan Ferrell, Renisha McBride, or Michael Brown—especially when they were racially profiled and confronted by ARMED white men simply for being Black

Here’s a final quote that seems highly apropos:

There are Negroes who will never fight for freedom. There are Negroes who will seek profit for themselves alone from the struggle. There are even some Negroes who will cooperate with their oppressors. These facts should distress no one. Every minority and every people has its share of opportunists, profiteers, free-loaders and escapists.

Keke needs to be more informed

KeKe been playin’ herself for too long. Ma'am, don’t let progressive/liberal propaganda erase our people’s history in this nation. Stay radical and take revolutionary action, folks.

We better listen……

This is for all the “New Black” crowd.  It could happen to you, too!!!

Relevant.

Very important that you note when this was said. Look at what has been taking in this country. At some point, people have to assess the situations for what they truly are and have always been.

Just a few of MANY horrible, racist comments blowing up twitter tonight.

Wow, you cant be serious.

smh

in other news.

Not even surprised.

Look I live in  Maryland and every time the Maryland Terps win any damn thing of importance, College Park is on fucking fire.  I love the Terps but they riot only for the next morning to see the news depict it as a “celebration” that got out of hand.  And they fucking won a game.

Perception is everything.  And anything bad that happens to a black person is because they did something that white people do every damn day that doesn’t cost them their lives.

Like walking in the streets going to their grandparents house.

miltonsong I tweeted this very thing last night. Love Maryland. Live it, breathe it, but I don’t get why they riot ATFER WINNING! Now as far as these racist remarks, it’s not surprising. Animalistic remarks and comparisons to savages and criminals are truly ironic. The police MURDERED an unarmed teenager under the assumption that he committed a crime. THOSE ARE THE ANIMALS. THOSE ARE THE CRIMINALS. I get why they’re rioting. Do I take this moment to censure their behavior? No. It’s not my moment. We are dying. WE ARE FUCKING DYING. The stores don’t shoot. The stores shed no blood. We do. WE FUCKING DO! But they’re so concerned with the aftermath and not the fact that cops kill black folks like me DAILY with impunity. Yet they take this moment to label and criticize. Interesting. They will never live and worry about having to bury a child, mother, father who was murdered by someone who will ultimately vanish into the ranks of the countless other officers who live and serve under the same shield. The reason to rebel has never changed. They value these possessions more than black life. And they don’t even see a problem with that.
