“Moon pattern”

My embroidery pattern of the Moon is now available on my Etsy shop
Its a PDF file that you will have to download and print the pages you need.It includes instructions in English and in French.

The level is intermediate.

This pattern is designed for a hoop of 16,5cm in diameter and an embroidery of 6,5cm in diameter (but you can adjust the dimensions if you want).

In this guide you will find the list of supplies, the drawings to realize the embroidery, tips and a step by step of the embroidery, a notice on how to do the stitches that you will need for this pattern, a guide of colors and informations on how to embroider your design on a black fabric.

And it’s done!

“Mars”

I took new pictures of my tiny embroidery of Mars.
I’m always looking for the best light to shoot my embroideries and it’s really difficult with certain colors. Am I the only one having such problems photographing my red colored threads ?
I took these pictures in my garden and the colors are quite close to the real ones but they are not as vivid and you can’t see the shine of all my threads but, as always, I take comfort in thinking that this is the privilege of my clients to know what my embroideries really look like

“Moon pattern”

I’m doing my own Moon pattern as a test before to add it on my Etsy shop :DYou can see the first steps to realize it in my next photos of this post.

1- The drawing.

2- Embroider the outlines.

3- Soak it into water to remove the water-soluble fabric.

4- Dry your embroidery, why not in front of the sun with a nice drink?

“Saturn”

WIP…

Fifth step :

- I now embroider the 9 rings of Saturn. For that, I cut circles in my paper like I did to do the shape of my planet (you can see my previous post for that). I use one strand of my embroidery threads to have a result as delicate as possible.

For the sixth step :

- I choose a selection of 62 beads for the 62 moons of Saturn, then I embroider them around my planet.

I won’t show you the final result right now because I want to keep to surprise for my customer ^^

Fourth steps :

- Once the contours are finished, I adjust the interior of my planet if necessary to have the roundest possible shape.

- Now I can do the circle of Saturn in split stitch, helped by the circle cut out of my paper.

“Taurus”

April 20th – May 20th.

The name of the constellation, Taurus, means “bull” in Latin. The constellation is symbolized by the bull’s head, ♉.

Taurus is known for its brightest stars Aldebaran, Elnath and Alcyone. It is also home to the Pleiades (Messier 45), also known as the Seven Sisters, and the Hyades, the two closest open star clusters to Earth.

Representations of Taurus and the Pleiades star cluster have even been found in a cave painting at Lascaux, dating back to 15,000 BC. The constellation and the Pleiades have been known in many indigenous cultures and referred to as the Bull and the Seven Sisters, indicating a common origin for the names.

In Greek mythology, Taurus is usually associated with Zeus, who adopted the form of a bull in order to seduce and abduct Europa, the daughter of the Phoenician king Agenor.

Second steps :
- I embroider the outlines of my embroidery with split stitch on my water-soluble fabric.
- Now I remove the water-soluble fabric by soaking my embroidery in water.
- When it’s dry, I start to embroider the inside of my planet with long and short stich.

“Saturn”
Work in progress…

The material :
- a hoop ; linen ; felt ; scissors (for fabric, threads and paper) ; water soluble fabric ; paper ; embroidery threads ; pins ; needles (for threads and beads) ; beads; pen ; a compass.

First steps :
- I do the drawing of my planet and it’s 9 rings with a pen and the compass on a paper, then I transfer it on water-soluble fabric with a pen. After that I cut the circle of my planet in the paper and from my water-soluble fabric.
- I cut a circle of felt the size of my hoop for later. I stretch the fabric in the hoop, keeping it overhang of minimum 1cm.
- I place my paper and my water-soluble fabric on my fabric with pins.
- I select the embroidery threads that I will need for my embroidery.
- I start to embroider the outlines of my embroidery on my water-soluble fabric.
