The following scratching and clawing was quite violent, so we won’t disclose much information there. All there really needs to be said is that Bendy regretted every single second. At least it explained why it was so dang heavy.
When the little demon was nudged, he gave a low, defeated groan, lifting his tail and waving a white flag. “Parlay, I plead you… parlay..!”His words were muffled, so he got up. He was covered horn to toe in white bandages, so much so he almost looked like an Egyptian Mummy. He looked to Clover and sighed; it was time to swallow his pride and apologize.
“…awright, Clo; y’got me. I let my pride get the better o’ me. I just HAD to know how you were so dang lucky all the time. So I… figured you had some sort o’ lucky charm hidden somewhere.
An’ it wasn’t just today’s game either that made me wanna know; for the longest time that I’ve known ya, you’ve just been so abnormally lucky. Against Criminals or other casinos, you always were able to sweep them all in a single game o’ cards.
But I know that ain’t no excuse. I was jealous n’ petty, an’ what y’did to me was well deserved. I promise, from the bottom o’ my devilish heart, that I will never go through your or anyone else’s purse again… it’s just too dangerous!
…I don’t really expect you t’ forgive me straight away, Clo, and I gotta have’ta apologize to you too, Buster. I know ya probably told ‘er about this, n’ how I asked you to get involved. That wasn’t right of me, especially to a brother.”
He hung his head low and sighed, repeating everything that happened in his head. He really felt like a right schmuck. Well, At least he was being sincere, and that he learned a lesson he shan’t soon forget.
Clover and Buster looked at each other. Then laughed, perhaps to the little devil’s confusion. He was taken by surprise as Clover scoped him up into a hug.
“You little goober, you know I can’t stay mad at you.” she said.
“We’re glad you’ve learned yer lesson, though.” Buster added, giving his brother a pat on the back as Clover set him back down, “A lady’s purse is sacred, you don’t go digging through it unless she asks ya’s to.”
“And besides, at least you made the trip to the fair a lot more entertaining.. at your own expense. Speaking of which!”
Before Clover forgot, she handed Bendy back the earnings he had lost to her at cards earlier. Every last cent.
“You didn’t actually think I was gonna keep all this, did you?” she said to Bendy, “I’m already wealthy. I never keep any of the cash I win from gambling. it usually goes into the town, the orphanage, the daycare, the library, the school- You get the idea.”
“Iwas going to hand it back to you sooner, but when my sweetie here told me about your little ‘plan’I had the good sense to hold off… At least until you learned your lesson.”
The push from the young feline certainly caught him off guard; hell, her APPEARANCEcaught him by surprise. How was she in that bag in the first place!? He had fallen onto his backside while he stared in befuddlement.
But, at the threat, the demon rose his hands and gave a worried smile.
“Wh-what!? Oh, nononono, Odette! Nothin’ of the kind! I-I was just gonna take a peek, honest! See if there were any lucky charms in there or somethin’…”
Hewasbeing honest… but that’s not gonna save his skin from getting clawed up, was it?
“Huh? You were going to peek into Clover’s purse??”
“THAT’S EVEN WORSE!” She shouted. “You can’t just go look through a lady’s belongings without asking!! Ruby told me that it’s a ‘violation of privacy!’ I won’t let you violate Clover’s privacy!!”
Eventually the set of cars Clover and Buster were in returned to the station. The two were laughing quite jovially as the young woman helped her dizzy boyfriend off the ride.
As they went to the bin to pick up Clover’s purse however. They found Odette holding the purse, looking rather peeved at the one very clawed up Bendy face down on the ground.
“Whoa, what happened here?” Buster questioned.
“Oh yay, you’re back!” Odette chirped as she noticed the two, her mood shifting completely, “Bendy tried to violate Clover’s privacy and stopped him!”
“I can see that but when did you get here?” he asked.
“I can answer that.” Clover said, “Odette likes to ride in my purse sometimes, she did that when she was only a pet, and as a toon she still does it now. Somehow she fits herself in there and just falls asleep.”
“It makes for a great surprise when someone crosses me,” she continued, “And hopefully your little brother got surprised enough that his little ruse is finally over.”
She gave Bendy a slight nudge with foot, just to make sure he was at least conscious.
So I’ve been reading MTMTE and RiD, and I love them, but I can’t shake the feeling that poor Optimus is the only adult on a planet full of kindergartners.
Also, I think Optimus would be the kind of kindergartner teacher that seems all calm and collected, but who actually drinks, like, 12 cups of coffee a day, and who has a periodic eye twitch.
