Don Peyotte, a shaman speaking to ancient spirits via the drum he made of a cactus and a piece of crocodile skin (don’t ask how he got the skin, you don’t wanna know the story!). He translates his questions in the language of rhythms and plays them, listening to what the spirits tell him in response: every whisper going out of the shell in his ear, every jingle of his bell and the music of winds living in copper tubes of his earring contain their phrases but he’s a master of sounds and hints, he knows for sure what it really means. Place and time are important: one question can be asked under the silent Moon on the top of a high hill, your feet drowned in sand freezing, while another demands scorching white hot Sun over your head, sweat pounding your drum instead your paws, each drop pronouncing your request - and he knows all the whens and wheres.

One cannot have too many succulents and cacti on a west facing balcony. These tough babies (bottom image) did great over the 40°C week.
