REGARDING LINDO BACON AND THE HAES COMMUNITY
If you’ve been following posts by @fatmarquisele and @bodyliberationwithlindley, you’ve seen the harm caused by Lindo Bacon. Now you may be thinking, what do I do? If you aren’t familiar with this, please visit the above mentioned IG profiles and @haes_by_adash who has posted a response.
JUST NOTICE
First, you don’t necessarily have to ‘do’ anything. Being reactive, feeling the need to save or insert yourself is a common white, thin, ‘ally’ response. It was definitely my first response when I heard about this! To start, you could just notice how you feel when you read both Lindo’s responses and the responses of those that were harmed.
LEARN, READ, & OBSERVE
With a curious mind, read what is being put out right now. As usual, the burden has been placed on the marginalized folks to explain, teach & advocate. This is not fair AND it’s an opportunity for allies to get a first hand view of 1) what exploitation, abuse of power and performative allyship looks like and 2) what marginalized folks are asking for to make sure this does not continue.
AN EXAMPLE: WHAT I AM DOING
1. I noticed how I felt reading each piece published (am I feeling attacked, helpless, guilty?)
2. I shared the stories told so more people can learn about this
3. I asked myself if any of my behaviors are similar to Lindo’s? Check out the specific list of white supremacy culture provided in ASDAH’s response.
4. I removed my name from the haescommunity.com registry because I didn’t realize this was ran solely by Lindo and ASDAH already has a registry

Please submit photos, videos, illustrations, visual posts that show your real life, every day experience of the world as a disabled person. Whatever that may be! It can be anything from mundane every day things, your fashion, your selfies, your food habits, the things you enjoy doing, to the adventures you go on, basically anything anyone would ever share about themselves. It doesn’t have to be a 100% positive experience, though, as that is not real life. Any emotion, any experience. I’m interested in presenting what it is like for disabled people to live their lives.
Photos, videos etc. should probably include you, a part of you, or your actual Point of View to be a true depiction of you and your experience. They should also be clear, the subject matter should be recognizable, and relatively interesting to look at (if not downright hilarious commentary on the mundaneness of living life as a human being). If we want this project to make a difference it should be something that all kinds of people want to look at.Let’s burst out of our echo-chamber and refuse to be ignored!
Whatever else, you should be presenting yourself and your experience how YOU want to be presented. This is about both education and empowerment. I’m not here to dictate how you depict your life and what “Disability Is Normal” means for you.
No photos or videos of disabled people that are not you, please, unless it is a group shot that includes you and you are also disabled.
If you know a disabled person who wants their experience to be shared as part of this project please have them submit. If they are not physically able to submit, then please message me with a copy of their explicit consent - this would be either in physical signed form (a photo of a signed note), a video of them consenting, or a voice recording. A simple YES answer to a ‘do you want this to be shared on Disability is Normal’ - a physical nod, or thumbs up etc. is good enough for me if the person is non-verbal.
I want to try and be inclusive as is absolutely possible, but this is a place for us to be represented exactly how we want to be. These are our voices!
This is a project for all disabilities, all genders, all ethnicities, all skills, all lifestyles, all perspectives, all social classes and all disabled experiences. We are numerous, we are everywhere and we WILL be acknowledged <3

Hello Everyone!
I am a self taught glass artist that relies on my art to pay the bills. I have recently been hit hard with surprise medical/dental bills. So much so that I can no longer afford to help with the normal every day bills like groceries.
I sell my work on Etsy and usually this time of year I am getting steady sales but something changed and now I am getting very few views on my shop.
I am not asking for a handout but I do need people to know that I exist. I want my work to support me more than anything else. This is my dream. The best way to do that is to be seen. For that to happen I need this post to get as many reblogs as possible!

CHROMATOSE: A Visual Novel/Roleplay Game
With 80% of funding covered, it’s now a countdown to hit the goal within three days to achieve this team’s dream and make it into a reality!
I can’t stress this enough guys, as a fan of Visual novels, RPG’s, and Mysteries, the Devs really hit the nail on the head in all these categories!
Plus considering the amazing reviews by the press, there’s no way we can let something this fantastic that stands out in the Visual Novel community go when they’re SO CLOSE to hitting that number they need!
To pay $15 for something of this magnitude is BEYOND a good deal when most games of this caliber go easily for 60+! Even if money’s tight, simply passing along the message to really get the word out there and let others know would be absolutely amazing and just as helpful as becoming a backer yourselves!
In the world of Indie games, where we see many Kickstarters put up that just simply don’t measure up to that hope, this one deserves all the love and attention it can get.
But don’t take my word for it, if you haven’t played the demo, which is 2+HOURS LONG! (I mean how often do we see something like that for a simple DEMO guys?!) I highly recommend going and downloading it from itch.ioorgamejolt to really see why this game has MANY wagging their tongues with excitement!
Let’s all do what we can, be it backing or spreading the word, and prevent this amazing and unique game from falling through the cracks! Go check it out, play it if you haven’t, and support it in anyway you can!

The best part about this is that $1 gets donated to CHLA’s Helping Hand fund each time you send one out. New Bill Would Allow People with Disabilities to Earn & Save More Money
Not only does it raise the limit, it INDEXES THE LIMIT TO INFLATION MOVING FORWARD.
If you are in the US, tell your senators and congressperson to vote for this.

This one isn’t a hotbutton issue for Republicans vs Democrats so dont assume that just because you live in a blue state that your reps will definitely vote for it. Make the call.

Boost the heck out of this. It is bipartisan legislation, Sponsored by Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and co-sponsored by Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH). The bill number is S. 4102 and I don’t think it has a House equivalent yet. If you tell your reps to vote for S. 4102 sponsored by Sen. Brown and co-sponsored by Sen. Portman, you could be completely changing the game for disabled married couples. (The Senate has a drop-down menu by state at the top of the website https://www.senate.gov/)
