The testy sibling dynamic in the B plot of this episode was an absolute treasure and EXACTLY what I always imagined Varian and Lance’s dynamic would be. I love it so much!
Not exactly a redraw, but a reference to this pic I drew in 2017. I like to think Kiera and Catalina, a little older and more cynical, would give Lance a little bit of a hard time about dressing up as elves to his “Saint Nicholance” role. But then they’d surprise him by doing it anyway, because they love their big, goofy dad.
A pan clattering breaks the silence and a fruity aroma fills the air.
“I made French toast,” Catalina offers. It feels bad to say this, but I completely forgot she was still staying here.
“I-I can find another place to stay,” Catalina continues. “There’s a lot going on with you all; you shouldn’t have the burden of me staying here, too–”
“No,” Eliza interrupts her. “Something good should come out of this. You stay here as long as you need. Right, Joselyn? This is going to be your place now.”
“Right,” Joselyn says, nodding with a nervous smile. “For real, Catalina, it’s no problem. It’ll be nice to have a roommate, anyways, once this one is gone.”
“Thank you,” Catalina says in the deafening silence.
Without a doubt one of the best camping experiences we’ve had. The conditions were perfect and a beautiful storm rolled in right around the time we went to sleep. The lighting, the scenery, the seclusion was lovely. I’m so completely amazed that one of the coolest trips we’ve done is just a one hour boat ride from one of the biggest cities in the world.
