Wassup I dunno what to post sobs

I’ve been trying to fight artblock by baking fresh new OCs with no context, but now idk how to uhh introduce them lol so I made a shitpost instead djdjdjjd

This may look like a vent but it isn’t trust me JAJDJSJR It just sounded so funny in my head I had to do it lol

I’ll try find a way to post about new OCs when I’ll have more time- I hate losing motivation to post and write about my OCs when I really really want to and I’ll hope I’ll be able to do that again during school break-

I think a useful set of skills for fantasy characters could be the ability to make weird unnatural creature-y monster-y noises.

If used to emulate the sounds of particular monsters and creatures they could potentially intimidate and ward off other creatures and monsters who are scared of them.

And even if these noises aren’t based on anything real in, they could probably still be used to deter man and beast alike. After all an unknown creature could be far scarier than a known one.

CW: Death threats

I think a good fun rivalry character dynamic could be an annoying guy and said guy’s almost entirely stoic target of annoyance.

If for example the target was restrained under a pile of rocks or something the annoying guy could taunt them by saying “You want me bad”

To which the target would respond with “I want you dead” in a rather grim tone

This would then cause the annoying guy to cross their arms, nod their head exaggeratedly and go “You want me” before walking away.

If you wanted you could maybe have a character across the length of whatever you are writing slowly come to realize that they’re in a work of fiction.

And while yes you could have them be crushed by the sudden realisation that their entire existence has been controlled by someone else or becoming a fourth wall breaking joke.

Why not have them instead vow to make sure that their story ends happily, being emboldened by the knowledge that everything around them can be totally altered and changed for the better, no matter how dire their present circumstances may seem.

If you’re ever writing a character who’s usually silent, something you might want to remember is that voice will eventually become less powerful and more difficult for them to use.

For example, having to talk for any amount of time could render their voice somewhat unstable with voice breaks occurring repeatedly as they continue to speak past their limit.

It could also hinder their ability to exclaim loudly with shouts and screams, as their voice is not used to exerting that much effort

Oh and psychologically they could just not be sure about what level of volume to have their voice at and how to have it be at that level, occasionally causing them to either be too quiet or too loud.

morally grey does not mean “is bad but also sad”

a character that is morally grey will not burn the world down because it makes them feel powerful, they’ll do it because they perceive something about it to be broken. moral ambiguity has nothing to do with a character’s past, and everything to do with the relationship between their actions and their intentions.

Morally gray is stuff like “I selfishly desire adoration and praise, so I will do heroic acts to gain that praise” and “I am willing to torture an enemy soldier if it means saving the innocent”

It is not “I am an evil tyrant but I was bullied as a child so it’s okay”

Saturday saw me write this definitive text…and I got to say I am trepeditiously pleased. A little over a year in the abstract making and I have a trilogy on my hands! Final word count was 300,074, with page # at 619 enough to see each book comfortably with 200+ pages – of course that’s just cursory, I still have the whittling and honing of editing to do and that always gives or takes!

Now I say…
