Found in parts of Azerbaijan, China, India, Iran, Kuwait, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Armenia, Georgia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Iraq, and Kyrgyzstan, these leaf warblers live in forests, alpine scrub, wetlands, and gardens. They eat small insects, spiders, and probably berries in autumn. Breeding between May and early August, they build ball-shaped nests from grass stems, dry leaves, plant fibers, hair, and feathers on the ground or in low scrub or bushes. Females lay clutches of two to five eggs.
