As Diavolo opened the portal to the human world, he excitedly asked everyone to go through.

However, while most made their ways to find themselves in Austria a second later, Clover felt a certain unease inside her.

She was one of the last ones to step into the human world…

And just before Diavolo called her out to go, she turned around and searched for a certain pair of eyes.

“Solomon” she whispered. The sorcerer looked at her in surprise. “Solomon I… Have a favour to ask of you.”

———-

The group plopped into the human world in a dark side alley, so that no human being would wonder about that wavering, weird portal that just happened to puke out fourteen living beings right onto the street.

When everyone was there, Mama Lucifer called all of them together to establish a few more rules.

They agreed on a time where they would all meet right here again, and Lucifer talked another fifteen minutes about how he would torture his brothers if they caused any kind of ruckus whatsoever.

“Mylord” Barbatos called out after Lucifer finished his monologue. “Mylord, where would you like to go first? I will escort you there.”

Diavolo kept quiet for a moment, then his eyes landed on a certain girl.

“I want to go with Clover!” he suddenly called out, leading the girl to let out a confused noise. “And she’s human, so I will be fine with her around. No need for you to do that, Barbatos.”

Barbatos eyes widened in surprise.

“B-but… Mylord” he almost whined.

As Beel was huddled together with Clover, Diavolo now looked at him as well. “Beelzebub, would you join us as well?”

“Sure.”

“Mylord, I-” Barbatos stammered. “I don’t have any doubt in Clover’s capacity to guide you around, b-but”

A hand placed on Barbatos’ shoulder.

“Relax, Barb!” Asmo chimed in. “You need a break from your master too, you know? Come, how about we have some fun together for a change~!”

And Asmo pulled the confused butler away.

Diavolo seemed a little irritated over his butler’s behaviour, but Solomon was quick to ease that as well.

“He will be fine” the sorcerer hummed. “Now, if you allow, I would like to join the three of you.”

“Sure” Clover smiled.

Solomon gave a pleased nod.

“Shall we get going, then?”

In any case, this was super adorable! Great job! And since I’m being late as hell in drawing Clover and Beel in the mermaid AUwho knows, maybe I will be able to do something more Christmas themed in time for them instead☺✨

Secret Santa Event,

Final Day, Part 2

Lucifer and Mammon kept wandering around for a longer period without entering any shops.

Somehow, Mammon felt weird.

He should be on cloud nine, having his greed being fed so well. He should be grabbing all he could, because right now, he actually COULD get everything he wanted…

But somehow, that thought didn’t make him happy.

He did get some more things he had been eyeing for a long time, yes,

But even that joy felt a slight tad odd.

Mammon wasn’t sure if he has ever felt this way before. So, at some point, they came to a stop in front a jewelry store. There was a pair of earrings Mammon recognised.

“These are the ones Asmo lost last week, aren’t they?”

Lucifer stepped closer, nodding. “If I recall correctly, yes.”

“… Buy them” Mammon prompted after a moment. “I wanna rub it in Asmo’s face that I have a new pair, but won’t give it to him.”

————-

A few shops further into the street, they came by Madam screams, and Mammon asked for one of the winter collection boxes.

Also, the store right next to that was selling blankets made out of a lava sheep’s (super soft) wool, so he bought one of those as well.

“… It’s getting pretty chill outside” he mumbled as an explanation.

A little smirk growing on Lucifer’s face, he gladly bought what he was told.

Waaahhh you know that Mammon being spoiled and appreciated is my weakness @hyper-super-clover ✨ he’s so considerate towards his brothers even when his present is supposed to be all about him, I love him and your work so much✨ It’s so nice seeing Lucifer trying his best to be a good big brother and to make Mammon happy to the point of tearing up, I mean that’s really sweet!☺ GOOD JOB AS ALWAYS!

A flash of lightning illuminated his room.

Mammon shrieked up from the sudden clash of thunder. Thunder in broad daylight? That could only mean one thing…

“Mammon…” a female voice croaked.

Fuck.

The demon hurried over the the balcony’s door in the lounge. An old lady was waiting on the other side, clothed in dark gowns, tapping her foot impatiently.

The witches are here.

Nervous, Mammon pulled the door open a slight bit.

“Oh, hey, Linda, long time no see” the demon gave a fake smile. “You look good today…”

“Mammon… You know what I’m here for, don’t you?”

The avatar of Greed did some fake thinking. “Hm… You were missing the great Mammon? Well, can’t blame ya, but I’m busy right now, so come back lat-”

Talking, Mammon had been closing the balcony door again. Or at least, he tried to, but the witch pushed against his motion, with such crazy force that it pushed the door right out of its frame.

As she let go of it, the glass shattered into hundreds of pieces, spreading over the whole carpet.

“O-oh…!” Mammon’s eyes widened at the sight. “Y-You’re really angry, huh-” He got grabbed by his collar the second after.

“You didn’t pay your money this month…” the witch growled. “You know what happens when you don’t pay your fee in time, right…?”

Another squeak, then Mammon tried winding himself out of her grip.

“L-look, I sent you a crow…” Mammon stammered. “You’ll get a double check next month-”

The witch pushed him further into the room, such force in her hand that the hem of Mammon’s shirt was choking him.

“You don’t make the rules, Mammon.”

“Hrrgh…!”

He got thrown onto the ground.

“So?” the witch asked, crossing her arms.

Biting his lip in frustration, Mammon pulled out his wallet.

“… There…”

Stretching out about 50.000 Grimm, he felt how it got snatched out of his hand.

The next second, the witch stood on the balcony again.

“Don’t forget to pay us ever again, scumbag.”

Frowning deeply, Mammon remained sitting on the ground. To think they would actually come up to his house… Let alone use such force on him.

He got pulled out of his thoughts as he registered footsteps coming closer from behind.

And he knew this presence that had stepped into the room, seeing the mess right next to him.

“MAAAAMMMOOOOONNNN…”

“Oh, come on, give me a break…!!”

——————-

Mammon’s mood kept being at a low for the next days.

He needed that money. More than ever, he regretted giving those darn witches even a single Grimm. Because now, he had to… Without…

“Uwaah…!”

A face appeared in front of him.

“Mammon?” Clover cried out. “Why are you standing in front of my door?! You gave me a heart attack…”

So Mammon had to put on a smile.

“Heh, it’s your fault for being such a scaredy cat!” he grinned.

“Eh?!” Clover gave a pout. “No! And what are you doing here anyways?”

The demon gestured at the backpack he wore.

“The two of us are going for a little walk today” he stated. “So put on your hiking shoes, we’re heading off to the forest in three minutes.”

“… What?!”

Okay, first of all: I’m gonna beat those freaking witches because how dare they hurt our first man like that!? They need to learn a lesson and since MC can use magic better in the last few lessons,it’s time to use it and to show that messing with people dear to the human exchange student is a BAD idea(while it isn’t canon in this Christmas special,in my heart I like to imagine Clover calling Camy a bit later telling her what happened so that she can deal with the witches and comfort Mammon)

Second: DCBMMGX HOW SWEET WAS MAMMON’S PRESENT FOR CLOVER?!?AND CLOVER’S REACTION? GOD THEY’RE SO CUTE, I LOVE THEM BOTH

Day 13

Two pairs of footsteps echoed through the dark alley.

“S… Satan…?”

“Yes?”

“Uhm… Look, erhm… Isn’t this area a little… dark? …And smelling of rotting corpses too much?”

“Hm… I didn’t notice. Whomever corpses you smell, they must’ve been dead for some time now.”

“Ah, yeah, okay… Very reassuring, thank you…”

They continued their journey.

In front of another shady alley, Satan halted.

“It’s getting too dark for you to see, hm? Here, take my hand, Violet.”

“Yes, thank you…”

They had to be there soon. Or at least, Violet was pleading for it to be over soon…

They had to proceed while crouching now, as the path was narrowing down. And the human had to trust the demon completely, not seeing anything herself.

This place seemed way too filthy for her taste.

“I feel just like Luke must have felt when Solomon brought him into that bar the other day…” Violet mumbled. “It’s funny how we’re suddenly visiting the shadiest areas I’ve ever seen, when Christmas time is supposed to be bright and soft.”

“Welcome to the Devildom” Satan laughed. “We’re not really good at soft or bright…”

Then, Satan pushed open a rusty door, a dim light shining through the opening.

“But…” Satan continued. “We’re good at stuff like this.”

He pulled her through the door, revealing the street market that was spreading across all the alleys.

“Wow… The place is huge!”

“And highly illegal!” Satan smiled. “Come now. I don’t want too many demons to notice the presence of a human.”

He grabbed her hand even tighter, and so they went over the whole market, searching for that one particular stand…

“There!” Violet exclaimed.

“Excellent. Let’s buy the herbs you need and make our leave again.”

———————

Home at the House of Lamentation, Violet looked at her haul with a broad grin.

“This is perfect. Together with what Lucifer gave me from the garden, and what we bought in the human world yesterday, this will make for a great Christmas present!”

Violet turned towards the blond, not able to hold back the urge to hug him. “Thank you so much, Satan!”

Chuckling, he wrapped his arms around her as well, leaning his head against hers.

“You’re welcome. It’s been fun visiting places I’m not allowed to. And… You know…” They parted. “You… Did not forget the other half of our deal, right?”

Violet laughed.

“No, of course not. I’ll talk to Lucifer tomorrow, then we can visit my home and you’ll get to meet - and pet - my cats all you like.”

—————

A few days later, Violet was standing in front of the demon lord’s castle. She did not ring the doorbell, but reached for her phone to contact Diavolo.

Minutes later, the demon prince opened the door, a big grin on his face.

“Well, well! I welcome you… Miss Santa Claus.”

Chuckling, Violet stepped inside. “Thank you for having me.”

Diavolo led her into the castle. In front of the kitchen, he turned towards her in anticipation.

“He’s right in there. Go ahead, and take all the time you need.”

So the girl knocked on the kitchen door.

“Come in” a voice responded.

Walking inside, Violet was met with a surprised gaze.

“Violet” Barbatos called out. “I do not recall you were going to visit us, but it is always a pleasure to see you.”

“Hello, Barbatos. That’s because nobody told you I was coming over.”

Stopping next to him, Violet reached into her back. “And it seems I have a little…” she pulled out a present, “surprise for you!”

“Oh”, the demon’s eyes widened. “Thank you very much” he took hold of the box. “You actually managed to startle me with that. Did Lord Diavolo help you organising this?”

“A little bit. He made sure you didn’t hear me coming.”

“Hm…” Barbatos’ gaze switched between the present and the pre-dinner snacks he had been making. “This is quite a dilemma… The Lord asked me to cook for him, but it is also impolite to not open your present when you came all this way to deliver it…”

“DON’T WORRY, BARBATOS” Suddenly, Diavolo was shouting through the closed kitchen door. “I’M NOT HUNGRY ANYMORE, YOU GO HAVE FUN!”

Barbatos and Violet stared at the door for a moment.

“… How…?” Violet asked.

Barbatos suppressed a chuckle. “Mylord”, he then called out. “You haven’t been standing at the door this whole time, trying to hear what Violet got me as a Christmas present, have you?”

Silence.

“… Nooo…” it then came from the hallway.

The two inside the kitchen grinned at each other, then Barbatos gave a nod. “I shall open it, then.”

He untied the green ribbon, unfolded the neatly wrapped box.

And inside the package, he found countless of small sacks, filled to the brim with all sorts of dried herbs and fruits.

The butler’s eyes were sparkling.

“… Tea leaves?” he asked like he couldn’t believe what he saw. Picking some of them up, he saw that each bag was labelled, stating its contents as well as which realm the goods were from.

Violet gave a nod.

“I tried asking Lucifer a little about which kinds you could be missing. Those are a mix from the human world as well as from some… exotic places in the Devildom. Sadly, I wasn’t able to get many from the celestial realm…”

The girl noticed how Barbatos was inspecting the bags with increasing excitement.

“I barely know any of these” he said, a slight squeal in his voice. “This is incredible!”

“Thanks” Violet smiled.

At some point, Barbatos had pulled out enough of the tea leaves to notice that there was something else underneath the bags.

So, he pulled out a little book next.

“A recipe book for self-made tea…”

“Ah, yes…” Violet smiled. “This was a lucky shot! I found it when buying the Devildom herbs. Since I don’t know anything about the Devildom teas, I thought this would be helpful. In case you’d like to mix teas yourself. And, well, for the things from the human world…” Violet made a bashful pause. “I-I am by no means an expert, but I know a thing or two about making human-world tea myself, so… If you ever need help, feel free to ask me anything…!”

Browsing through the recipe book for a while, Barbatos then gave a nod. “I would have a question, actually.”

“What is it?”

He put the book aside, turning towards her.

“To show my appreciation, could I give you a hug?”

Oh, how her heart softened at that…

Grinning, Violet spread her arms, wrapping them around Barbatos while feeling how he took a gentle hold of her as well.

“Thank you” he mumbled.

“You’re very welcome” she smiled. “Merry Christmas.”

—————

They talked about different kinds of teas for a little longer, about what leaves Violet got, the special things about them.

At some point, Barbatos went a little quiet again.

“… Violet?” He then raised his voice. “I feel greedy for asking for so much, but…”

Violet tilted her head. “What’s wrong?”

“Would you mind mixing a human-world tea with me right now? We could make three cups and serve Lord Diavolo one. I figure by now, he’s having a severely difficult time holding back his curiosity.”

The girl laughed at the mental image.

“I’d love to” Violet said. “I made a list, in case we’d get to mix some tea today, so we can choose from that.”

And Barbatos smiled back.

“Sounds great.”

Secret Santa Event,

In today’s story snippet, our dear Diavolo had the honour of recieving a present. Now, for a moment, try to think of something you could gift a literal prince…

Diavolo was raised to be hell’s ruler one day, so naturally, he had gotten the royal treatment since birth. Living in a giant castle, surrounded by butlers and maids that were at his side the second he was unsatisfied, Diavolo truly lived what most would call the best life.

Weirdly enough, if you’d ask Diavolo himself, he would probably not say the same.

He could not complain, not about the standards he was able to live by. Especially with Barbatos at his side, he couldn’t possibly whine about that.

And I’d say it’s also not the heavy weight of being a prince, one that will one day lead one of the three realms, all by himself. He is smart, and strong, physically as well as mentally.

However, there was one thing that Diavolo lacked…

One thing that his life of a royal demon did not give him…

————–

Beelzebub was sat at his desk, a paper in front of him and a pen in his hand. He was trying to come up with gift ideas for the secret Santa project.

Although it it turned out terribly difficult to come up with anything good.

With Diavolo as his partner, it truly was a challenge to think of something that the wealthiest demon in the Devildom didn’t already have. Like, seriously, what do you gift someone who must already possess everything you could buy with money?!

Beel had thought of everything, really.

Besides the (more or less obvious) food options, his favourite ideas were something like a potted plant or a pet came to his mind. Both were things that Beel enjoyed to take care of, but he felt stupid about those ideas as well.

‘He could also get some himself if he wanted to.’

That thought eliminated about every idea that Beel could think of.

And so, the demon of Gluttony had thought and pondered and contemplated and brainstormed – but without success.

Frustrated, Beel rested his head on his desk. His mind wandered to Diavolo as a person…

And led him to the conclusion that there indeed was something that Diavolo didn’t have.

That he on his own, couldn’t get.

“He must feel lonely a lot.”

And Beel’s brainstorming continued…

————–

“Good morning, Beelzebub!”

Diavolo stepped inside the student council’s office room. “What brings you here, on a Monday afternoon? Don’t you have club activities?”

Hurrying to finish his sandwich, Beel shook his head. “I talked to the coach, it’s fine.”

“Oh, really? It’s rare for you to skip practice. Are you not feeling good today?”

Again, Beel shook his head. He stood up to meet Diavolo’s gaze properly.

“No, I’m fine. But I wanted to talk to you.”

The prince’s eyes widened. “C… Could it be…” They shimmered in excitement. “…That you…” And he couldn’t contain his joy. “…Are my Santa Claus?!”

Beel gave a nod, leading to Diavolo eagerly looking around the room in search of a present. When he couldn’t find anything, he mumbled a n irritated “uhm…” towards his Santa.

“I’m sorry, your present is not here right now…” Beel admitted. “It was a little too big for me to bring it here, so I delivered it to your castle before school.”

“Ah, I see…” Diavolo said, going back into a contained stance. He was trying his best to hide his curiosity – and the urge of running to see what was waiting for him at home.

“But I wanted to talk to you about it” Beel continued. “What you’ll find at home is only a part of my present. Uhm… The main present is something I would like to tell you.”

The two demons sat down to talk, and Beel pulled out some snacks to share together.

“So, I thought about what to get you for Christmas… And to be honest, I had a hard time coming up with anything. We always spend a lot of time together in the student council meetings, and whenever you invite us to your formal parties… So I feel like we are friends. Get along, at least. But that is the point… We’re not really behaving like friends very often.”

He looked up in determination.

“I’d like to change that.”

Surprise crossed Diavolo’s face. But he let Beelzebub continue.

“It must be tough being a prince. You’re not really able to behave friend-like with others much. Or at least, that is my impression. So… My present is an invitation. To a pajama party at the house of Lamentation.”

“… Really?” The prince’s mouth had fallen open slightly. “But I’ve proposed that idea to Lucifer before, and he was against it…”

“Yeah” Beel laughed in resignation. “It took some time convincing him. I had promise to not eat the fridge empty for the next month, and also… This is where your other present comes in to play.”

———-

After school, Diavolo hurried to get home.

Beel’s words rung in his ears as he entered the main hall, heading directly to his room:

'See it as a countdown, but also a companion to take care of.’

Pushing his door open, Diavolo saw…

A big, potted plant, decorating his room.

The cryptic descriptions Beel had given now slowly connected.

So Diavolo bursted out into laughter.

'I won’t spoil your present, but I’d like you to take good care of it.’

The prince inspected it more closely, and identified it as a Pentafruit-plant. It was known to bear fruits once a year, sometimes twice if taken care of well, and the sweet, tasty berries always showed the signature pentagram on their lower side.

'Lucifer agreed that once it’s time to harvest the fruits of your labour, we will organise a sleepover party just for you.’

“That’s certainly a present I did not expect” Diavolo chuckled.

He promised himself to stay up today to find out what his new little companion likes and dislikes…

… So that Diavolo would be able to have fun with the friends be loved very, very soon.

Sleepy… So sleepy… So… Sleepy…

… Yeah I’m talking about myself lol.

But also, it’s very fitting for today’s secret Santa, Belphegor.

Because Belphie is, as I wish I was right now, most always asleep because of this never ending tiredness inside him.

That led the youngest of the demon brothers to sleep on many of his duties… School, house chores, and also…

Yes, also on getting a present for the secret Santa project.

It wasn’t that he didn’t think about it at all. After recieving his present from Levi, he felt bad for neglecting his duties. Levi had put countless hours of work into coming up with something, yet Belphie had not been sparing a single thought on that matter, at least not before feeling the joy of getting a heartfelt present.

Sadly, the determination he grasped from that event wouldn’t just make his tiredness disappear.

And that leads us to the situation at hand.

Belphie was sleeping on his bed, cuddling with Levi’s Azuki-tan pillow. (They agreed that Belphie might borrow it from time to time).

On the bed on the other side of the room, his twin brother Beel was enjoying some before-dinner-snacks with Clover.

“I’m worried” Beel mumbled at some point. “I haven’t seen Belphie work on his present at all. But he told me it is due on the 11th…”

The girl gave a confused look. “… Isn’t today the 11th…?”

Their worried faces intensified.

“Should we wake him?” Clover asked. “Just to remember that there’s still something he has to do today?”

“No.” The demon shook his head. “Never wake Belphie when he’s in deep sleep.”

Both gave a sigh.

They could only wait and hope that the avatar of Sloth would wake up in time…

—————-

So, I don’t know what you interpret as “in time”.

Still on the 11th? Or maybe about an hour?

Well, either way, in the end, Belphie woke up at 11:34 PM.

He usually takes a longer time to properly, y'know, wake up, get up, get out there.

But this time, something was lingering in the back of his head, something urgent, something important…

Picking up his phone to check the time, Belphie’s gaze drifted over the curse on the back of his hand.

The curse that would punish anyone who disobeyed the rules of the secret Santa project.

… The secret Santa project…

… Where Belphie had to give someone a gift…

… Today…

You rarely see Belphegor at a speed like he picked up that second.

————-

11:40 PM.

Belphegor has left the House of Lamentation.

Because of course, the recipient of his present couldn’t just live in the same house as he does, no.

He had to literally dash over to the Purgatory Hall in the next 20 minutes if he didn’t want to feel the power of the Devildom’s ruler punish every cell of his body.

However, there was another issue at hand.

… Or let’s say, there wasn’t.

His hands were empty.

He had forgotten to prepare his present. Despite actually having thought of something, Belphie had still managed to not complete his task in time.

Well, wasn’t that great?

Seriously, being lazy sucked. Even if you want to do something, this drowsy, tempting voice takes hold of you. Because sleeping is so much easier… Beds are so comfy… In the land of dreams, everything was so much easier…

Belphegor cursed under his breath.

Well, yeah, fuck that. Because of this shitty way of thinking, he was not only in danger,

But also, maybe he wouldn’t make it in time to do his part in spreading warmth. And the little brat wouldn’t admit it, but he liked the feeling of that.

To give it your best so that someone will smile because of you. Because you’re fighting against the Sloth in you, stay up late, work hard, exceed yourself…

To do what makes others happy.

————-

11:48 PM.

Belphie had made a turn to visit the shopping centre.

Devildom was a place with… Different work ethics than humans, so their shops were closing a little later than in the human world.

But no, it wasn’t THAT easy.

They close at 11 PM, so he was nearly an hour too late.

However, Belphegor was lucky to find a shopkeeper trying to close their shop and go home now… In full demon form, Belphie jumped at the demon lady, holding her in a tight grip as he spoke like a maniac.

“LADY, I NEED YOUR HELP.”

————

11:55 PM.

Time is running out.

But now, not empty handed anymore, Belphie ran over to the Purgatory Hall, and did not even bother trying to ring the doorbell.

He knew which room he had to go to, so he jumped up onto the balcony, harshly knocking on the glass door instead.

A moment later, Solomon met his gaze, and opened the door in visible confusion.

“… That is an odd surprise” he mumbled. “Hello Belphegor… What brings you he-”

“Merry Christmas” Belphie hurried, handing the sorcerer a bag.

“Oh, I see…”

Solomon took it. He felt something solid, moderately heavy inside.

And, opening the back, he pulled out…

A cookbook.

There was a loooong silence in which Solomon stared at the book in his hands.

“I thought you could use one”, was all Belphie said to justify himself. “You know, to, uhm… Broaden your palette a bit.”

“Th… Thanks…”

——————–

The next morning, Solomon has slept for quite long.

The incident with Belphegor was something to get over, and he had stayed up to look at the recipes inside the book.

For a cookbook, it looked quite promising, with dishes from all three realms.

(And let’s be honest, Solomon needs one of those.)

Well, Solomon wasn’t one to really bother over Christmas, not after having lived through many already.

But he had thought that maybe, maybe he would have gotten something… Other than a cookbook, only minutes before his present day would be over.

————-

Then, that evening, when he came back from town, he was surprised to see his cookbook glowing in purple colours.

There were clouds and shadows hovering around it, painting the air in an ominous black.

Curious, Solomon decided to open the book again.

A black cloud emerged from the pages, writing letters into the air:

‘sorry for being late. Now for real, merry Christmas, Solomon.’

As he looked back at the pages once the fog had lifted, Solomon realised that the whole book has changed.

Now, it was a cookbook, but for magical potions.

It seemed to be written by a witch, a famous one, as Solomon recognised her name.

She was known for her remarkable knowledge of brewing powerful potions in her cauldron, but also for being very secretive about her techniques …

Solomon was shocked that Belphie was able to get his hands on something rare as that.

“Thank you”, Solomon mumbled, a smile curling his lips.

He promised himself to mix up a nice little potion from that very, very soon…

“… What?!”

————-

Clover got ready in five minutes, to Mammon’s luck without asking too many questions.

So they took the path from behind the house to get into the nearby forest.

“What'cha got in that backpack?” Clover asked once having accepted that Mammon had just completely changed her plans for the whole day.

“Stuff.”

“… Ah.”

“We’ll search for a good spot to take a break, then I’ll show you.”

—————–

So they walked, and walked…

Mammon seemed less talkative, much less willing to brabble on about work, the witches, or whatever came to his mind. So it was the girl’s turn to engage in a conversation…

However, Mammon seemed terribly distracted.

He kept inspecting the woods very precisely, as if searching for a particular path to take.

Which, at first, did not seem weird, considering they were wandering through a pretty gloomy forest that even Satan once found himself lost in.

But it was so against Mammon’s carefree nature to be so concentrated, so tense, even.

The girl was unsure whether to mention it or not, and kept it inside her for most of the time.

But as he grew frustrated, she grew worried, not able to hold back anymore.

“Mammon, is there someth-”

“There!”

He dashed forward and was about ten meters away from here in the blink of an eye.

“Mammon?!”

Running after him, Clover saw how he bowed down to inspect a rotting tree trunk.

And just as she reached him…

Mammon yelled out the loudest, most frustrated growl ever.

“GOD DAMNIT!!!” He punched the tree with his fists, with such power that it crushed the wood completely.

Clover stopped immediately.

“… Mammon…?” she called out softly.

“They changed their fucking hideout!!” Standing up, he kicked the trunk away. It fell apart mid air, but Mammon was already releasing his anger on another tree.

The girl couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw Mammon transforming into his demon form, continuing to let out his emotions.

He growled, punched, cursed…

Clover felt tears forming in her eyes, not able to bear seeing her dear friend like this. She truly realised just now that she had never seen Mammon angry,

And wished from the bottom of her heart to never see him like that ever again.

“MAMMON!!” she cried out once more, desperately trying to get his attention.

“Those fucking pathetic shitty asshole witches!!” he grunted. “I should rip them all apart, for tormenting me, again and again. Should do to them what they do to me, a DEMON. But NO, I keep being an idiot, letting them get away with stealing money from me, with hurting me countless FUCKING times!!”

He had started using magic, and the trees were continuing to fall apart one after another, thudding on the ground, making everything shake and tremble.

“And you know what, FUCK IT!!” Mammon kept going. “They can have my damn money, laugh at me, call me whatever the heck the want. But that ONE FUCKING TIME I saved my money for someone other than me, they do it again…!!!”

He sliced trough another trunk, panting heavily from getting so worked up.

“And in the end, I remain the stupid, greedy scumbag that can’t get anything done.”

His voice cracked, finishing his sentence.

As his rage left him, his wings as well as his horns disappeared and he sunk down onto his knees.

You could hear him sniff quietly.

It took some seconds until Clover’s brain was able to function again.

“M… Mammo-”

“Don’t.”, Mammon stopped her from coming closer. His tone was cold and truly hurt, keeping his gaze lowered to not have to see Clover’s disappointment.

But the girl was desperate to help him…

Then, she noticed Mammon’s backpack lying on the floor. It must have been ripped off Mammon’s shoulders in his rage, now showing its contents through a huge rip.

Surprised to see colourful wrapping paper inside, she went to grab the bag.

‘for: Clover

from: the great Mammon’

“… Don’t open that” Mammon grumbled. “It’s not what I wanted to give you.”

Biting her lip, Clover crouched down, beginning to unwrap her Christmas gift.

She found a mix of small gifts:

A self made calendar with pictures of sea otters and a box that looked like a kit to make those friendship bracelets everyone made in kindergarten…

And a piece of cloth were someone had, well, tried to stitch an embroidery. It was scuffed, but Clover could make out two faces, one with white hair, one with a bow in their hair. Embroidered rather scuffed, it said 'X-mas’ above their heads.

Clover couldn’t stop staring at it.

“… It’s all I could afford…” Mammon mumbled. “I had to organise something after those fucking… After they took the money I saved. I wanted to buy you a new laptop, since your last one got destroyed in science class… But… Well, you might as well throw away that trash if you don’t-”

He got tackled into a tight hug.

Clover was sobbing next to his ear.

“Mammon…!” she cried. “I love it, thank you so much…!”

“… Huh?”

She squeezed him tighter.

“Just, please… Don’t be so hard on yourself… And… I… I don’t know what to say, or how to help you, but… I don’t want you to be in such rage… I love the cheerful and goofy Mammon, so it pains me to see you like this…” She had to pause as her sobs intensified. “Please, Mammon… I don’t need an expensive gift… That is not what Christmas is about… And this is certainly not what I wanted when we started the secret Santa project, so… Cheer up, please…”

“Wh… Why are you crying, human?”, Mammon asked, however having to hold back tears himself.

“Because I care about you!” Clover pulled back to lock eyes with him.

A gasping breath escaped Mammon’s lips.

“But this stuff…” He gestured towards the presents. “… Have you seen how scuffed it is? I had too little time to actually make the bracelets, also I think I forgot to add November into the calender…and the heck do I know about stitching! Have you SEEN how bad this is?!”

“But I love it!!” she called out.

“… Why, though?”

“Because it’s from you, silly” Clover smiled. “And it’s things that I like! Sea otters, fun accessory… And of course… Just our friendship.”

Mammon’s eyes sparkled.

“… Really?”

So he got pulled into a hug again.

“Yes” Clover mumbled. “From the bottom of my heart.”

She felt his arms taking wrapping around her.

“… Thank you…”, the demon mumbled softly.

So she hugged him back.

“I have to thank you.”

They stayed like this for a little longer, then Clover pulled back.

“What do you say we go home and make each other a bracelet?”

Mammon grinned.

“Yeah” he nodded. “We’ll make the best proofs of friendship ever!”

Secret Santa Event,

Day 9

This little story belongs to my Christmas project, a series of stories leading up to Christmas Eve! Check my Event Masterlist for more information, and have fun!

A/N: might contain interactions with my MCs Cloverand/orViolet(no spoilers ofc), but you don’t have to know them to understand the story!

There are a things in life that are true opposites. That just don’t go well together.

Life and death.

Peace and war.

Math and fun.

And for our little angel child Luke, that also goes for angels and demons.

Despite all that Diavolo had tried to accomplish with the student exchange program, Luke had a hard time living in the Devildom. If you’d ask him, he’d never admit it, but he was scared really of demons. Also highly irritated by their behaviour, their culture, their… Everything.

To him, demons were bad, evil, ruthless and wild creatures. That’s what he was raised with, that’s what all the evidence had taught him.

Until very recently, at least.

Despite a few other things that Luke found he had in common with demons, like the interest in baking he shared with Barbatos, he was most shocked by the fact of demons willing to engage in Christmas traditions. Shocked that, out of all, THE demon prince showed a similar amount of excitement like Luke did when they heard the magical name “Santa Claus”.

So, even though his stomach was turning as he thought about giving a demon a “heartfelt, heartwarming present”, Luke convinced himself to give it his best shot regardless.

Before drawing lots, he hoped to get either a human or angel as partner, or Beel or Barbatos, since he got along best with those.

… He nearly gave a screech when he read the name “Satan” on his piece of paper.

No, no, oh no. That was a horrible outcome.

Out of all the brothers, Luke was kind of scared of Satan the most. Maybe it was because Satan was the only true demon, not a fallen angel like the rest. But Satan also had this aura around him, something that made Luke want to keep his distance to him.

Satan seemed so nice and polite most of the time, but Luke was convinced that the avatar of Wrath just HAD to be evil.

And the worst was, because of this crazy curse Diavolo had put on everyone, Luke couldn’t ask anyone for help on this matter.

He really had to get this done alone…

———-

Days passed, and the boy didn’t make any progress in coming up with a present.

Sitting on his bed at the purgatory hall, he was trying to make a list of gift ideas.

It was empty.

He knew that Satan liked books and liked being alone. Also, that one time before class, Luke had caught Satan secretly watching a video about cats.

But since Luke had tried staying away from him up until now, that was all information he had.

He couldn’t just go out an buy a book, not knowing which Satan already possessed. And Luke felt like he shouldn’t bring up the cat topic. He feared Satan might get very mad if Luke showed that he knew about this cat-thing…

Hence, the angel’s head was empty.

And as his day of playing Santa was right around the corner, he grew desperate. And sad.

Just as Luke wasn’t able to hold in his tears, the room’s door opened.

“Hello Luke”, Simeon greeted as he stepped inside.

“S-simeon…!” Luke furiously whiped his face in a sad attempt to hide that he was crying. “I thought you were out shopping with the humans! W-why are you back already??”

The brunet gave a soft chuckle. “Well, when I said I would be back home late, I thought that the girls would surely be escorted by the whole house of Lamentation again. But surprisingly, they were able to come alone, so we were way faster with our tour.”

Now that Simeon turned around, he got a good glance at Luke. He immediately noticed his swollen, red eyes.

“Oh, dear”, Simeon hurried over to sit down beside Luke, “What’s wrong?”

His voice was so soothing that Luke wanted to cry his worries out. “N-nothing”, he tried holding it back, however. “I… Hit my elbow.”

Simeon mustered him for a moment.

“Do good angels lie, Luke?”

The boy flinched.

And finally, he opened up.

“… No…”, he mumbled, then he started crying again.

With Simeon softly laying an arm around him, he started describing his problem without triggering the curse.

“I can’t come up with a present… It’s difficult coming up with gifts for demons… They… Well, it’s not like they scare me, but it feels weird… Aren’t they supposed to be bad?! So why… Why do I want to come up with an amazing present, and why can’t I think of anything…”

Through a little silence, Simeon thought about what to say.

“How does Santa determine if children get toys or not?”, He asked.

“Well, children don’t get toys if they’ve been naughty. But those are demons, they are all nau-”

“Luke, are you judging the individuals or their race with what you are saying?”

The boy went silent. Turning to look him straight in the eye, Simeon kept waiting for his answer.

“I… I guess my… Present partner never did anything real mean to me…”, Luke mumbled. “But…! That doesn’t change the fact that I can’t come up with a present… The rule was to give something heartfelt, so… I’ve tried so hard to not go for the obvious option, tried to make sure they will like it and be surprised and happy…”

Contemplating, Simeon stood up, wandering around the room.

“You know…”, he began. “Sometimes, simple and obvious is not necessarily bad. You want to make the person happy, right? So, if you know that whatever idea will make them happy for sure, then why not do so?”

“B-but isn’t… Isn’t that too easy?”

Simeon gave a soft smile.

“That depends… Are you taking the easy road to make it easier for yourself, or because you are sure to spread happiness that way? Because if it’s the latter, then I’d say go for it. Try to give it your own personal touch, and then everything will work out just fine.”

————-

A few days later, Luke made his way to the house of Lamentation.

His hand was shaking as he reached for the bell, even more so when the person he was looking for was the one to open the door.

“S-satan?!”, Luke bursted out.

The demon tilted his head.

“Are you surprised to see me? In my own house?”

Ah, great, Luke was instantly intimidated again.

But, no, he would not get discouraged now…! Luke would be an amazing Santa…!

“No, I… I wanted to see you, actually.” The angel said.

Satan, who had been eyeing the wrapped box in Luke’s hands, looked up in surprise.

“Oh? Well, come in first. I just prepared myself tea, so we might as well enjoy that together.”

So, the little blond followed the tall blond through the mansion, until both sat down next to the fireplace in the lounge.

Satan took a sip from his tea, then put the cup down, calmly waiting for Luke to address his issue.

“S-so…”, The angel raised his voice. “You’ve probably already guessed it, but… Today, you’re getting your present, and I was your secret Santa.” With that, he handed Satan the box.

Satan’s lips curled in a mellow smile.

“I thought as much, yes, but the occasion itself is a pleasant surprise. I will open it right now, if you don’t mind.”

Luke gave a tiny nod, then Satan carefully unfolded the wrapping paper (Yes, Satan is not one of those weirdos that violently rip wrapping paper. The avatar of Wrath is a gentle man).

What he looked at then was a bell cover, a container to put baked goods inside.

And through the see-through glass, the demon looked at an apple pie, also being able to smell a hint of it now.

“I-I heard that Apple pie is your favourite, so I browsed my recipes and made a fresh one for you today…”, Luke mumbled, very nervous as he couldn’t read Satan’s expression at all.

“It certainly smells delicious”, Satan then said. “Thank you, I think I’m going to cut myself a slice while enjoying my tea-”

“B-but wait…!”, Luke suddenly exclaimed.

Satan stopped in his motion of standing up. And as he had wanted to put the cake down, he felt something stuck underneath the bell cover.

Curious, Satan took what seemed like a note, hand written and with little doodles on it.

After reading it, he shot Luke a truly excited glance.

“… Can you really do that?”, Satan asked.

A little blush spread on Luke’s cheeks.

“Well… Let me explain. I wanted to give you a book, but didn’t know what books you haven’t read yet… So I thought, angel literature must be something rare for you. And, uhm… In the celestial realm, we have a giant library with exclusive books that other realms can’t get their hands on, so… If you tell me what you would like, I could borrow those, and maybe leave them here for you to read them… It would be like a voucher that you can use from time to time…”

A sly smirk spread on Satan’s lips. “Isn’t that a little nasty? Giving out holy books to a demon?”

Now, Luke’s face grew an upset (but still blushing) red. “D-don’t tease me! I’ll only do it because Santa would have done the same! You’re a demon, but can also be very nice and I appreciate how calm and polite you are, so…” He went quiet due to being too flustered.

Thankfully, Satan had heard enough. Enough to actually feel appreciated and warm inside.

“Thank you, Luke” he smiled. “I like that gift a lot.”

And the angel boy smiled as well.

“I’m very glad. Oh, and… Merry Christmas, Satan.”

Secret Santa Event,

Day 8

This little story belongs to my Christmas project, a series of stories leading up to Christmas Eve! Check my Event Masterlist for more information, and have fun!

A/N: might contain interactions with my MCs Cloverand/orViolet(no spoilers ofc), but you don’t have to know them to understand the story!

Sooooo… Let’s talk demon prince.

Diavolo is known to be generous and friendly towards his loved ones. Sometimes (and by that I mean most times) his urge to spend time with them takes things too far, but really, he means well.

And for such a big big man with a big big heart, Christmas sounded so wonderful. His mind was running wild ever since the group decided to hold a secret Santa, almost physically aching because Diavolo was looking forward to it that much.

He ended up with so many great gift ideas… And might have ended up wrapping all of them in neat wrapping paper.

Now that sounds amazing for the person receiving all this. Really. Just that…

Diavolo happened to pick that one person who’s the worst at recieving gifts…

——–

“Violet!”

Diavolo himself was greeting her at the front door. From the way the door opened literally a second after she rang the bell, it was obvious Diavolo had waited for her right at the entrance in his anticipation.

“Lord Diavolo” the human girl smiled. “Thanks for having me over.”

She stepped inside, surprised to hear when Diavolo invited her into his room. She’d never been there before, so it felt like a big deal.

Diavolo, on the other hand, was grinning from ear to ear. It had been toture to wait until this day would finally come. He had planned to go all out, dressing up as Santa and surprising Violet by delivering his present at night…

But, well, you’ll see the problem behind that idea very soon.

“It might rather obvious by now, but you are here for the secret Santa project” Diavolo started, shooting her a smile.

She gave a nod. “I thought so, but I’m still very excited to see the idea you came up with.”

“Yes!” the prince agreed.

“I’m excited to see which one you will like the most.”

At first, Violet gave a joyful hum in response.

Then, her brain had processed his words.

“…‘Which one’?”

———————

With mixed feelings, Violet came to a stop in front of Diavolo’s room.

“I’d like you to go first” he cheered.

And so she did…

Her jaw dropped.

There were… were… So many… Presents…

'Too many’ a thought shot through Violet’s mind in panic.

“Come on, don’t be shy!” Diavolo pushed her inside. “Take one and unwrap it!”

Completely dazzled, the girl couldn’t stop staring.

There were six wrapped gifts in her vision.

Six.

“U-uhm…”

She felt Diavolo’s amber eyes gaze at her eagerly.

“Violet? Is there a problem?”

“N-no…” she mumbled. “I’m j-just… Overwhelmed…”

“Hahaha!” Diavolo seemed very amused. “That’s adorable. But no need to be. Here…” He took a gentle hold of her hand, putting the smallest present box in them. “Start with this one.”

Violet brought herself to unwrap the pretty, silver glistening paper. She looked at a box of sweets.

“Madam Screams is only selling those in winter” Diavolo said. “I found it suiting for a Christmas gift to buy something seasonal. I know you are not particularly fond of sweets, but I feel quite confident that those will please you nonetheless.”

“They look very delicious” Violet hummed.

Oh well, if all presents turned out to be such small little treats, Violet might be fine with the amount after all.

If I may kindly drop a spoiler,

They weren’t.

Violet was handed the next gift.

A 'home spa box’, consisting of bath bombs, creams for face and body, a shower gel. They appeared rather expensive, very high quality at least.

“These smell amazing!” Violet gasped.

“Oh, I’m glad. There were three boxes that all looked amazing. For a moment, I thought of getting all of them, but it seems that I was able to make the right choice.”

Violet swallowed heavily. “Y-yeah…”

The next gift followed.

“A trenchcoat” Diavolo explained as the hem of its fabric showed under the wrapping paper. “My tailor made it out of material from his own silk farm. It should keep you warm during the winter days.” The prince seemed so excited, he asked her to try it on.

It fitted perfectly, and the dark blue fabric shimmered softly in the room’s light.

“Do you like it?” Diavolo asked.

Violet could only nod.It looked amazing, yes.

But seeing herself wearing such a luxurious coat, she… it…

The next present followed before the guilt could properly form in her stomach.

“A… Viola?” Violet asked.

The answer was an enthusiastic nod.

“Yes!” Diavolo cheered. “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if one day, you would be able to play alongside Lucifer’s piano play? I want to be the first one to hear you two perform together! Promise me that, please?”

The girl’s cheeks flushed red at the thought. “Of course”, she mumbled.

“Now this one!"Diavolo pointed at the largest package.

And as it turned out, the large package contained four items in total. An easel, a canvas already placed on it, a brush set as well as a set of oil paint.

Diavolo kept watching her with a smile.

"I admire how you draw and paint, so I’d like to increase your artistic horizon. Have you ever worked with oil paint?”

The girl shook her head.

“Great!” The demon cheered. “If I may ask that much of you, I would love to see the art you create with this.”

She tried to, but Violet’s voice wouldn’t form a single word. As she kept looking around, she couldn’t process the mass of things that Diavolo just gifted her like that. Of course, he was a prince, so this might be a completely normal amount for him, but… For her, as some random human, she wasn’t used to this…

“Where’s the next one?” Diavolo suddenly called out. His gaze stopped at the open window. “Oh…”

Stepping towards it, Diavolo stuck his head out, blowing a loud whistle before coming back to her.

“Please, wait a moment.”

So they did, in a moment of silence.

Then, Diavolo stretched out his arm, and seconds after, a bird flew into the room and landed on said arm.

Violet stared at the owl with eyes at least as big as the animal’s. It looked like a black barn owl from the human world.

The owl had a cute, red ribbon tied around it’s foot.

“I heard you like those majestic little creatures” Diavolo explained. “And before you worry, this little fella is from the Devildom, yes, but completely harmless. Once we show him your room as it’s new home, it will come back for warmth and love in the evenings.”

Watching Violet’s baffled expression, Diavolo couldn’t help but chuckle. “Go ahead, try to pet it!”

Carefully, she approached the animal, touching it’s soft feathers and letting out a tiny squeal at the amazing feeling.

The owl gave a screeching noise itself, however it seemed happy.

After a little while, Diavolo cleared his throat.

“Violet… I wish you a merry Christmas.”

“Th… Thank you” Violet brought herself to say. “I’m v-very grateful for… For all this…”

She looked around the room again.

And as she turned around, looking up into Diavolo’s eyes, she knew she was supposed to smile. She wanted to, really. But her lips were trembling and she felt tears forming in her eyes.

“… Violet?” Diavolo called out in surprise. “What’s wrong? Are you not satisfied with your presents?”

And his soft, concerned voice was too much to bear.

“Th-that’s not it…” She mumbled, shaking her head. “Every single present is lovely, and I feel that you have put thought and warmth into them. B-but… I’m not used to… To someone…g…giv…”

Her voice cracked, so she cleared her throat, careful to keep her tears away.

“Have you not received presents before?” Diavolo made the owl fly to its place so he could focus on her only.

“I’ve never received so many, so expensive, so wonderful presents” Violet explained. “I’m not used to that, and it feels weird.”

Now Diavolo was the one to loose his words.

So Violet continued.

“Weird, and… And somehow, it feels wrong… So much money and effort spent on me… That’s… I… Don’t know how to deal with that…”

Violet was really trying to hold back her tears, not wanting to appear like a crybaby in addition to every other way she must be disappointing Diavolo right now.

“Is it because I’m royalty?”, Diavolo suddenly asked. “Does that make you feel uncomfortable?”

“Wha…? No, that’s not it! Really, I-I respect you as a prince, but other than that, I treat you as a friend, so…” Violet bit her lip. “You’re not the problem… I am.”

Narrowing her gaze, Violet wouldn’t dare meet his eyes again. Yeah, what a friend she was, not appreciating all he did for her, despite not having to give her this much in the least.

“Violet” the demon called out. “Please allow me to give you my last present.”

With that, he took one of her hands into both of his.

Raising it, he pressed her knuckles against his lips, mumbling words in a language the human did not understand.

He let go of her after pressing a soft kiss on her skin, now revealing a special pact mark around her wrist.

“Royal demons are forbidden to form pacts with humans” Diavolo spoke up. “However, we are allowed to give what we call a promise…”

Violet looked at her wrist. A black, vine-like tattoo decorated her skin. It did not feel like the mark she got from the pact with Lucifer, from a 'real’ pact apparently. But there was a weird tingle coming off of it.

The girl looked up in confusion.

“And I wanted to give you one” Diavolo said. “I am certain with Lucifer at your side, you won’t ever need my help, but if you ever find yourself in despair, you may use this promise, and I will find you.”

Violet’s eyes widened.

“But… Why… Why me? Isn’t that way too much for a Christmas presen-”

“I have not decided to make this promise because of the secret Santa project…” Diavolo chimed in. “… But because I truly think of you as an extraordinary person, Violet. And if I can help treasure and protect you in some way, I will.”

Hearing this, she couldn’t stop her tears anymore.

“I don’t… understand…” she mumbled.

Diavolo chuckled. “I don’t think it is necessary for you to understand my feelings, but I kindly ask you to accept them.”

He spread his arms, with an expression hoping for her to do the same. So she walked into the hug, now completely engulfed by the tall demon.

“Thank you so much, Diavolo” Violet mumbled into his chest.

The prince smiled a soft smile. “I thank you, for accepting me. For treating me like a friend.”

Secret Santa Event,

Day 7

Click, click-click, click.

“Uggghhhh…”

Click-click-click.

“Nooo…”

Click-click, click-click.

“That’s not it either…!!”

Click, click-click…

Thud.

Levi’s head landed harshly on his desk.

“Damn it…”

Only to shoot up in great agony a second after.

“Why can’t I come up with anything good?!”

——

Somebody knocked on the door to Leviathan’s room.

“Hey! Wassup! My man!”

“What’s the passwo-”

Mammon stepped inside, throwing himself on the giant cushion before Levi could even word his shock.

“Mamm-?! You-!? I have a password for a reason!!”

From the corner of his eyes, he saw how another face was peeking inside as well.

“Uhm…” She gave an awkward mumble.

Levi rolled his eyes in a sigh. “You may enter.”

So Clover stepped inside.“Levia-tan!” she cheered.

“We’re bored” Mammon groaned.

The avatar of Envy pulled a frown. “I don’t care how you feel, scumbag.”

“Eh?! You should pay me some more respect, y'know?! I’m your elder brother, so it’s your duty to entertain me when I’m bored.”

While talking, Mammon kept touching Levi’s stuff around him, picking up the Azuki-tan plushie, squishing it carelessly. Levi watched, his eye twitching as he hold back the urge to choke Mammon to death.

“We wanted to play some board games” Clover explained softly. “Wanna come play too?”

Levi’s expression turned conflicted. A little sad, even. Clover noticed immediately, and her gaze drifted over to his monitors.

About five gaming websites, as well as an anime streaming service were opened around a big list with lots of game and anime titles written on it.

“I’m not in the mood for social interaction” was Levi’s response, and he wanted to turn to his computer again.

“‘Sleep Simulator 6.66’? 'I overslept 69 years of my life so please help me stay awake, senpai!!’? 'Fuwa-fuwa magical sweet dreams island’?”, Clover read a few of the titles listed, obviously confused.

Now Mammon was trying to sneak a peek as well.

“Yo, Levi, you have problems with sleeping?”, Mammon asked.

“N-no…” Levi hushed. Stressed, he began closing the tabs on his screens. But Mammon had already went up to him as well, mustering the scene with Clover, both wearing confused expressions.

So Levi panicked.

“I-I don’t want to play with you and don’t want to talk to you so go away, I’m busy!!”, Levi blurted out, quickly turning his monitors off completely.

He wouldn’t spare them another second of attention, instead he stared at the black screen. Clover and Mammon exchanged a worried glance.

“… If there is anything you need help with, feel free to text us anytime, yes?”, the girl mumbled.

“You can’t help me”, Levi hissed. “… I’m too pathetic to be helped…”, he added after realising his own harsh tone.

Mammon raised an eyebrow. “You’re being an idiot again.”

“I don’t want to hear that from YOU, Mammon…”

Of course, the avatar of Greed threw a fuss over that, going on about he wasn’t the one having apparent sleep problems, some that Mammon put off as consequences of Levi’s Otaku lifestyle.

But while the brothers were fighting, Clover’s face grew more concerned.

She knew a lot of the titles she was able to read on the list, meaning that Levi must’ve told her about them already. So he watched and played them already. So why would Levi…?

“… Oh” Clover made, realising. “Mammon”, she then called out. “Come, we’re leaving.”

“Huh?!” Mammon huffed. “Human? Don’t ya care about Levi’s sleeping problems?!”

“Levi doesn’t have sleeping problems, Mammon.”

“… Huh?”

The human let out a soft sigh, then grabbed Mammons jacket to pull him towards the door.

Levi was quietly watching, still frowning.

“Levia-tan?” Clover said after having successfully pushed Mammon out of the room, standing at the door herself. “Please don’t worry too much. I see the effort you’ve put into thinking of something good. And I’m sure that you-know-who will do, too.”

With that, she shot him a supportive wink before closing the door.

Her words rang in Leviathan’s ears for a while, then he sunk deeper into his office chair.

“Pff, as if he’ll understand… As if anyone would want to get a present from me…”

———–

Hours passed, titles kept being added on Levi’s list.

But not a single one would satisfy him, would be what he was searching for.

He was sure that the recipient of his secret Santa present… That Belphegor would hate his present either way.

Nothing seemed good enough. Not a single game, not a single anime stroke Levi as something that Belphie would enjoy, not if it was a gift from Levi.

Because the titles themselves were amazing, the Otaku chose only his best recommendations, looked at countless reviews to judge their quality.

But with Levi’s already not existent confidence, and with how impressive and well-thought Satan’s present for him had been, the demon just couldn’t believe he’d be able to deliver anything that’s not terrible.

It was already past midnight. On the next morning, Levi would have to hand over his present, and Belphie would be so disappointed to see that he had to get his Christmas present from someone as useless as Levi.

The avatar of Envy bit his lip.

It was all pointless anyway.

Growing more depressed by the second, Levi turned in his chair to not have to look at his lousy list anymore.

After a while, he noticed that his Azuki-tan plushie had been carelessly left on the ground.

Gasping, Levi jumped up to pick it up.

“Tsk… That scumbag Mammon, doesn’t even know how to treat other people’s properties with the slightest care…” He stroke some dust off the plushie, sitting down again. “How could he, Azuki-tan?! You’re the most adorable, soft, perfect little pillow there is! Not only are you limited edition, and Ruri-chan’s loyal companion, but your pillow filling is so sweetly soft that one just has to drift off into slumber when holding you close…!”

He softly embraced the pillow, dwelling in the comfort it gave him as he buried his face in the fabric.

Levi was actually about to fall asleep.

Then, he found the answer to his problems, his head laying right on it.

The demon sat up, an uncomfortable feeling settling in his stomach as he stared at Azuki-tan.

He… He couldn’t. Only a very limited number of this Azuki-tan version was created. And he loved this one in particular very deeply.

But, then again…

He knew exactly how amazing it was.

And the humans said that Christmas is a time of jumping over your shadow, of kindness…

So… Maybe… If Levi would… Give Azuki-tan into Belphie’s hands, then his brother might actually be a little happy over his present…

Maybe then, Levi would be at least a tiny bit good enough…

“W-well, then… Azuki-tan, I think this is the last nap we’ll be taking together…”

Almost at the edge of tears, Levi placed his head onto the pillow again, being so terribly tired that he fell asleep immediately.

—————-

The next morning, someone stepped inside Leviathan’s room again.

“Levi, wake up… You missed lunch and dinner yesterday, Lucifer will kill you if you skip breakfast today as well.”

Slowly waking up, Levi felt somebody coming to a stop next to him.

He didn’t have much sleep at all, so opening his eyes seemed like such a difficult task. However, at some point, Levi registered the clicking of his keyboard, causing him to finally lift his head.

“Belphie…?” Levi mumbled, mustering his younger brother as the avatar of Sloth stared at the monitor that he must have turned on just now.

“Four-hundred anime and game recommendations?” was all the youngest brother said.

Levi jumped up in an instant, trying to block the screen with his body.

“D-d-d-don’t look at that!!!”, he screeched.

“But it said 'recommendations for Belphie’. So why wouldn’t I be allowed to see it?”

“Because you’re not!!”, Levi screamed. “Why are you touching my computer in the first place?!”

“Mammon might have spilled some infos when you wouldn’t come eating dinner yesterday.”

“Ugh… I will kill that idiot…!”

The blue haired male was stressed. Like, very stressed.

But now, when Belphie was here already, now was the best time to give him his present…

“Uhm…”, Levi mumbled, “Belphie, uhm… Well, if Mammon gave you some hints now anyway, I might as well…”

He choked on his words a couple of times, before shaking himself back to his senses. Belphie was watching his brother patiently.

“B-b-belphie!! I, uh, got you as my secret Santa, uhm, partner, s-s-so…” Levi swallowed heavily. “M-my present is… Well… I tried to, you know, think about what you like, and, uhh…”

With shaking hands, he grabbed the Azuki-tan pillow and held it out to Belphie.

“M-m-merry Christ… Christmas, Belphie… This, uhrrm… So, I guess it’s not very cool getting a present from some Otaku, b-but I can assure you that this is the best pillow you will ever take a nap on, s-so… Take it.”

He said that all while looking away, not bearing the sight without starting to cry. After a little silence, Levi noticed that nothing was happening.

As he dared opening his eyes again, he was met with an irritated expression.

“You’re giving me your anime pillow?”

Oh no. Levi had failed after all.

“Oh, you hate it, don’t you..”, Levi laughed, laughed about his pathetic self. “I mean, of course, this must be garbage to you, only weirdos like me like stuff like that… Maybe I should just-”

“Levi”, Belphie called out, tone so serious that it actually managed to pull Levi out of his monologue.

“Levi… Look. You know why I would hate getting that from you? Because obviously, it hurts you. A lot. And I wouldn’t want you crying over something that was supposed to be nice, so I’m not accepting that gift.”

Puzzled, Levi didn’t know what to do. This had turned worse than a game’s bad ending so quickly.

However, Belphie pointed at the computer again.

“What about that, though? Looks like you put effort into making that… You even rated everything on a scale.”

“Y-yeah, and I wrote descriptions to all of them, so you could find something you like easily… It’s like, a list for different sleepy moods. When you want to sleep, when you need to stay awake…”

“Well, I hope you kept the descriptions short”, Belphie chuckled.

Tilting his head, Levi did not understand.

“B-but… Isn’t that a pathetic gift? How would that ever satisfy anyone?”

Belphie let out a sigh.

“Levi… Stop being so hard on yourself. That is, in all honesty, the only thing that isn’t satisfying me right now. Because all this…”, he pointed at the list, “and the mere thought that you were ready to give away that plushie of yours is enough.”

“I-I… I…” Levi was errored completely.

“Thank you for the present, Levi”, Belphie smiled. “I was sceptical about this Christmas thing, but actually, it’s pretty nice to see how much people care about you… So, merry Christmas to you.”

“Y-yeah…”, Levi said, a smile forming on his lips as well.

“Merry Christmas, Belphie.”

Secret Santa Event,

Day 6

A/N: might contain interactions with my MCs Cloverand/orViolet(no spoilers ofc), but you don’t have to know them to understand the story!

Beelzebub was a very simple man.

Give him food and he will eat it.

Give him good food and he will very happily eat it.

Actually, you may even give him something that’s not food, and there is still a very good chance that he will still end up, yes, eating it.

As the avatar of Gluttony, his stomach was a black hole, never able to fill up, to stay full, but always yearning for more and more.

And thusly, his interests tend to orbit around food, mostly. But, honestly, if your body was signalling you this constant, incredible pain that is being famished, you’d probably do the same.

And even so, compared to his brothers, Beel was one to think about his sin the least.

What was on his mind then, you ask?

Well, that we are about to find out, as our favourite soft big boy was about to get his secret Santa gift today.

And his very own Santa Claus wasn’t one to choose the simple path, not about something you could pour a little love into.

———-

On the day the group had agreed on the secret Santa event, everyone had joked about how obvious it would be when Beel would get his gift, since the Santa would be standing in the kitchen all day, preparing some seven course meal the size of a whole family dinner.

And sure, you could definitely whack out some meal with it all – Hors d'oeuvre, soup, appetizer, salad, a main course, desert and a nice mignardise – and Beelzebub would drool himself crazy over that…

But his secret Santa Simeon wasn’t going to spend any second in the kitchen for this present.

The angel had thought a lot about an appropriate gift for the sixth born demon brother. They knew each other since Beelzebub was born in the celestial realm, with Simeon having watched over him and his twin brother Belphegor a couple of times. He knew that Beel had a calm and friendly aura, despite his rough and unfriendly appearance, and the angel loved how nicely Beel treated Luke.

And so, one afternoon, when Beel was visiting them in the purgatory hall, taste testing (meaning eating all) of the cupcakes that Luke had made, an idea hit Simeon.

An idea, or rather, a memory.

————–

“Hey, Simeon, where have you been yesterday?”

A few days later, in school, the angel sat together with most of the demon brothers as well as the other exchange students.

His gaze drifted towards Asmo, who had asked the question.

“That was the first time you ever skipped class”, Satan noticed. “Is there something ailing you?”

Chuckling softly, Simeon shook his head.

“No need to worry”, he hummed, before a smirk curled his lips in a mysterious way.

“Let us say, Santa had something important to tell me.”

“Y-you met Santa?!”, Luke bursted out, his cheeks flushed pink in the sudden excitement. “The real Santa Claus?!”

As Simeon would only continue to laugh as an answer, Luke kept bombarding him with questions.

At some point, Solomon finally chimed in.

“That must mean your secret Santa duty will come in to play soon, right?”

“Yes”, Simeon smiled. “Today, to be precise.”

All eyes widened in at least a little anticipation.

“Who’d ya get, then?”, Mammon asked. “Can’t you give the present now?”

“Patience, Mammon”, the angel admonished.

“That’s not a word that Mammon knows LOL”, Levi chuckled.

Levi earned some angered comments, of course, but those were silenced once Simeon spoke up again.

“Besides, I do not have it here right now. After school, I thought I’d take the person concerned to the purgatory hall and hand it to them there…

Of course, only if that is okay with you, Beelzebub.”

Beel looked up from the sandwich he was eating, terribly confused at first.

“… Am I getting the present?”

As Simeon gave a little nod, you could hear how Beel’s stomach was growling in excitement.

“Now you made him hungry”, Levi laughed.

Belphie pressed out a little sigh.

“Well, Simeon… I hope you have prepared something delicious, because Beel will have a hard time holding back his hunger now…”

“Don’t worry”, Simeon said.

“I am certain I have just the right present for him.”

————

“Self-made dinner?”

“Perhaps.”

“Candy?”

“Maybe.”

“Oh, yes, maybe those celestial realm sweets that you are hiding from me?!”

Chuckling, Simeon was approaching the front door of the purgatory hall, reaching for his keys as Beelzebub right behind him wouldn’t stop trying to guess what delicious food would await him.

As they reached Simeon’s room, Beel wasn’t able to hold in his hunger any more, so he dashed right into the room…

… Utterly confused when he couldn’t find any food.

“Where’s… Uhm…”, He mumbled, looking right and left, but nothing edible was in sight.

Simeon had followed quietly, coming to a stop now next to him.

“Merry Christmas, Beelzebub.”

Irritated, Beel followed Simeon’s gaze, looking over to a shelf.

And there it was, a little plushie dog, a red ribbon neatly wrapped around it’s head.

The demon stepped closer, still confused.

And then, he remembered, too.

For the longest time, Beel kept silent. He picked the plushie up, inspected it, felt its fabric. It was really worn out, had to be incredibly old already, with some stitches here and there.

And Beel knew.

At some point, he turned to Simeon.

Tears were rolling down his cheeks.

“Is this… Really…?”

Simeon answered with a soft smile.

“Yes. Lilith’s toy, from when she was younger.”

Beel’s voice was so thin that it took seconds until he could speak up again.

“… How?”, he asked, staring at the toy.

Now Simeon came closer. “Right after the celestial war, most of your things got destroyed. But I felt that, even though you guys had fallen, I wanted to keep some memories of the people I held very dear to me. So I hurried to pick up whatever I could hide best, to keep a piece of all of you… and to remember Lilith.”

Droplets of tears were falling onto the fabric in Beel’s hands. “But this is yours… I cannot keep th-”

“No, Beelzebub”, Simeon placed a hand on Beel’s arm, “I want you to have it.”

“B-but…”

Simeon looked up to him, waiting until he caught his gaze.

“You really love your family, don’t you?”

And with his lower lip shaking a little, Beel engulfed Simeon in a big hug, not planning on letting him go until Simeon understood just how much that present meant to him.

Secret Santa Event,

Day 5

One page…

Two pages…

Fifty pages left to read.

One report…

Two reports…

Twenty reports left to go through.

One task…

Two tasks…

Too many tasks, even for a hard-working soul like Lucifer. But he could only continue to read through everything with a sigh and the help of yet another cup of coffee.

Only until the evening, he thought.

At home, he’d surely get a little rest from work…

————-

“Lucifeeeer! I can’t find my credit card!!”

“That is because I hid it, Mammon.”

“HUH? Why?! Now I have to search it again!!”

“Don’t-”

In the middle of the family dinner, Mammon jumped up from the dining table, rushing into the kitchen.

“Is he going to search for it in the fridge again?” Levi asked.

Violet gave a confused look. “Why would he look in the fridge of all places?”

“Lucifer froze it one time” Beel explained while shoving pancakes in his mouth. Then, he noticed something and actually stopped eating for a moment. “Wait, Mammon will see the December ice cream I hid. And I know he will eat it.”

With that, he wanted to hurry after him, but now it was his twin’s turn to notice something.

“Wait” Belphie said, catching Beel’s attention just in time before he could run off. “Do you mean the december ice cream edition from Madam screams? Why didn’t you tell me we had some, its my favourite kind!”

Flustered, but also guilty, Beel averted his gaze. “Uhm… I… Well, it’s kind of my favourite flavour too, so…”

Belphie’s eyes widened. “You weren’t going to share? With me?”

Beel’s face grew even more sorry. “… I wanted Clover to taste it, and then I feared there wouldn’t be enough for me…”

The betrayal in Belphie’s eyes was real. He shot Clover a quick glare of ‘you stole my brother from me bitch’, which caused the girl to shriek up in sorry as well.

“W-well, I don’t need to taste it, you can have it, Belphie…” Clover started to mumble.

“No, I’m apparently not important enough for that” Belphie pouted.

“Don’t say that” Beel and Clover blurted out at the same time, but the avatar of Sloth would continue to argue.

Meanwhile, Asmo was chuckling in entertainment. “Guys, could you not argue over something as trivial as ice cream?”

Leviathan next to him tilted his head. “Since when is ice cream trivial to you, Asmo? You love to dig in to that stuff at least as much.”

Asmo’s mouth fell open. “What?! No, I don’t!!”

So Satan chimed in. “Don’t mind it, Levi. It seems like someone gained a little weight recently, so naturally, dessert is considered bad now.”

“Satan, how DARE YOU?!” Asmo raised to his feet, his fists hitting the dining table loudly.

“Asmodeus” Lucifer scolded in a harsh tone.

But the demon of lust would only raise his voice even louder. “What?” Asmo huffed. “Satan called me fat!!”

“I did not” Satan replied calmly, which made Asmo even more furious.

“Oh, you think you’re better than me? Don’t think you can mock me about watching my weight. Because at least I care about what people think of me. You’d only care about whether some street cat likes you or not!!”

Aaaand now he made Satan angry as well.

Just this moment, Mammon came back in, visibly displeased.

“Lucifer!” he grumbled. “My credit card wasn’t in the fridge!! But I need it NOW.”

So Levi gave a huff.

“So you can finally pay off all your depths?” he hissed. “For example, give me my Grimm back?”

“Pff” was all Mammon replied. “As if that is going to happen.”

And Levi started to insult Mammon for being such a lousy brother, which resulted in a third argument that ran simultaneously to the other two that had already formed.

Clover had been trying to calm the twins, while Violet was worrying over the rest, mumbling calming words towards Satan so he wouldn’t break out into a rampage.

At some point, however, the brothers were so deep into fighting that they could not be stopped by their human friends.

Surely, only one person was able to end this…

But Lucifer decided to just stand up,

and leave.

And this gesture was actually so uncommon that it silenced the demons, leaving them confused and worried instead.

“… What’s gotten into him?” Mammon mumbled, raising an eyebrow.

“Is he okay…?” Clover asked, her gaze drifting over to her human friend. If anyone could read Lucifer’s mind, it had to be his girlfriend.

So Violet gave her a nod.

“I’ll go after him.”

———————

He should go back and scold them, Lucifer thought. It was his duty as the oldest brother, to keep the young ones in check, so they would behave.

And also, Lucifer knew what was awaiting him in his room… More papers to review and fill out, spread across his desk. He had actually wanted to spend a long time eating, to get a bit of rest, but…

He couldn’t stand his brothers arguing. Certainly it was normal for demons to have a short temper, but despite the noise they were causing, he didn’t like to see his dear brothers bicker with each other.

And today, he felt terribly tired.

Too tired to cope.

He should just continue work now, Lucifer thought. His brothers would manage… somehow… Surely.

He gave a sigh.

Andhe had to manage, too…

“You seem to be tired, Lucifer.”

The avatar of pride came to a sudden stop.

He was not expecting this voice, not as he had just stepped inside his room.

“Barbatos?” Lucifer called out, now seeing the demon lord’s butler at Lucifer’s office desk. “What are you doing here? At this late hour?”

The butler shot him a soft smile, approaching Lucifer calmly.

“It appears I forgot to tell you something very urgent, so I took it upon myself to wait for you here.”

Lucifer rubbed his tired eyes. “Ah, yes, that must be about the budget for the upcoming school event. Diavolo gave me papers on the changes he wanted to make, but said that you had some-”

He stopped yet again.

Lucifer only now noticed there was a door. A door embedded in his room’s wall.

A door that has not been there before. It was painted in the same colour, thusly merely visible, so that Lucifer was not completely sure if he was imagining things or not.

“I am not here for issues regarding the student council” Barbatos explained, following Lucifer’s gaze and internally enjoying the shred of confusion on Lucifer’s face. “It is something of a more… festive matter.”

And with that, Barbatos stepped towards the hidden door.

“You see, I need you to touch this doorknob… So it can be completed as my Christmas gift for you.”

Lucifer looked at him in surprise, approaching him. “So you are my secret Santa?”

Barbatos would only smile as an answer, waiting until Lucifer touched said doorknob before continuing to explain.

“This door here leads to a room that, with your touch, is now restricted to you and whoever you allow to enter. There is not much inside, but… Well, I figure you should just see for yourself.”

So Lucifer opened the door…

Seeing what looked like a small, but cozy bedroom. One large bed, a seating cushion, a mini fridge and a piano was all there was.

“There is a trick behind this” Lucifer said.

Barbatos gave a chuckle.

“You know me too well” he smiled. “Yes, there is indeed a reason why I am gifting this room to you… I would like you to relax in here. Truly relax, sleep, calm down, that is.”

Lucifer mustered his face. “… But there’s more.”

Another chuckle.

“Yes… Because in here, time flies differently. More slowly, to be precise.”

“… Excuse me?” Lucifer blinked in surprise.

“I knew that you would never agree on relaxing if you waste precious time doing so” Barbatos explained. “But I really wish for you to find yourself at peace from time to time, and this is the solution I came up with.”

So he turned to Lucifer.

“I hope you approve of the idea. Merry Christmas, Lucifer.”

————

Minutes have passed until someone knocked on the door to Lucifer’s room.

Hesitantly, Violet pushed the door open, peeking into an empty room…

Except for Barbatos sitting at Lucifer’s desk.

“… Barbatos?”

“Good evening, Violet” the butler smiled. He told her about the present, the secret room, and also about how he had ordered Lucifer to go inside to test it out.

“He’s been in there for ten minutes real time…” Barbatos thought out loud, “So I figure inside, about two hours must have passed already.”

The human girl gave an audible gasp at the stunning magic that made this possible…

Then, the secret door opened.

Lucifer poked his head through the door, his sleepy eyes widening a little as he saw Violet.

“… I knew I heard your voice” he said. Well, it was more of a mumble, and it was obvious that Lucifer had just woken up from a nap.

Violet chuckled at the sight.

“I came to see if you’re alright” she said. “But I see that Barbatos took great care of you.”

Lucifer gave a small nod. “Would you like to come inside?”, he then asked her.

Surprised, she gave a nod, hurrying over to him.

“Make yourself comfortable” Lucifer smiled, then approached Barbatos.

“Thank you” Lucifer said.

“I am glad you like it” the butler smiled.

And as Barbatos was trying to make his leave, Lucifer held onto his sleeve to stop him.

“You left a giant cake in the mini fridge” Lucifer started. “And we both know that I am not the only one constantly overworking myself.” Lucifer gave a smile. “Please, join with us for a slice of cake, Barbatos.”

And Barbatos returned the smile.

“I’d be very glad to join you.”

Secret Santa Event,

“Cloveeeer!”

“Asmoooo!”

The two locked eyes, having crossed ways in the HoL hallway.

“C-L-O-V-E-R!” Asmo did a step towards her with every letter.

So Clover did the same. “A-S… S!”

They were still some steps apart.

“… Ass?” Asmo repeated, slightly confused.

“Yeah” Clover grinned. “You heard me.”

The demon gave a chuckle, but since he wanted to close that gap between them regardless, he did a jump towards her, engulfing the girl in a tight hug.

“Gotcha!” he called out triumphantly. “Now, there is no escape from my grip~!”

“Oh noo…!” Clover whined, however not able to hold back her giggles. “What should I do now…?!”

“Well, well, well… There is one way to achieve your freedom…” Asmo mumbled next to her ear. “And because I’m just the sweetest person ever, you will get the ’already-in-a-relationship’ discount…”

“How very noble of you” Clover chuckled.

Asmo gave a humble nod.

“I know, I know. So… For your freedom, you have tooooo…” He turned her body in his grip so that he could face her. “Spend the day with me!”

And Clover smiled.

“I’d love to!”

—————-

The two went out to Majolish, as Asmo wanted to check out the latest winter fashion. Here and there, he was able to convince Clover to try on a few things herself, but most of the time, the trip was about Asmo.

After all, he loved standing in the spotlight.

And with how famous he was through his Devilgram posts or by the sheer number of visits he had already payed the local clothing shops, there were a lot of demons approaching him during their shopping trip.

Some wanted a picture together, some asked for Asmo to blow them a kiss. One even dared to ask for, uhm, more

This wasn’t the first time Clover went out with Asmodeus, but his popularity remained to be something unusual for her.

What wondered her the most, however, is that she wouldn’t recognize any of the faces from school. You’d think that a popular person like Asmo had countless of friends around him at RAD, however it did not seem like he personally knew most of the demons they encountered.

So that meant that… They were squealing and screeching about his looks only? Or just because he was famous on social media?

….They weren’t even trying to be friends with him?

Clover felt a little weird watching them after realising that.

“Do you know those people?” The human girl asked at some point, just to make sure.

“Hm? Oh, no, I don’t think so”, the demon replied. “My beauty reaches everyone, you know? Even if I don’t know them, if they see me for the first time, all of them are magically drawn towards me~!”

They continued their tour. However, while Asmo ran over to his next group of fans, Clover stood there and watched.

Watched, and got an idea.

—————————

A few days later, Asmo came back from a tiring day of school. Moaning from exhaustion, he stepped inside his room, wanting to take a bath immediately.

He stopped when he saw Clover sitting on his bed.

“Oh~?” Asmo smiled. “What gives me the honour, having a cute girl wait for me in my own bedroom?”

Clover reached for something behind her back.

“Merry Christmas” she said, holding up a present.

The demon’s eyes widened in excitement as he sat down next to her. “That’s a surprise” he chuckled, taking the box and unwrapping it. “So, what will it be~? New clothing? Maybe you went and bought the piece you liked me in the most when we went shopping? Or, new make-up? My face doesn’t really need any more improvement, but-”

He stopped.

There was a photo book in his hands. He shot Clover a glance.

“Pictures of you?” he asked.

“Nope.”

“Pictures of me?”

“Nnnnot reaaalllyyy… Just open it.”

And so he did, seeing a hand-written title on the first page:

What I like about you’.

Asmo grinned. “So it IS a picture book of me! I can’t blame you for capturing my beauty in a book, but… Aren’t you following my Devilgram? It is kind of like that, you know.”

“Open it more, sweetie” Clover huffed gently.

On the next page, there was no photo of Asmo to be seen.

Not even a photo in general, but a little chibi drawing of two people hugging lovingly.

‘I love your hugs. They are warm and nice’ was written underneath it. Surprised, Asmo stared at it before turning the page.

Another drawing. Two girls in cute dresses, and a guy next to them, all smiling from ear to ear. Asmo recognised them as Violet, Clover and himself.

'You’re helping us feel pretty! It’s so sweet about how you support us, how you take care of us!’

He turned to the next page.

This drawing showed Clover and Asmo sitting on his bed. Clover was crying, while Asmo was patting her head.

'You listen when I’m sad. You care. Whether it’s boyfriend drama, or problems at school… You always have time for me.’

To Clover’s surprise, Asmo’s face grew conflicted. He looked through the whole book, not saying a word.

There were many drawings, all pointing out a good character trait of Asmo, or a picture of a warm, happy memory they shared. And what the avatar of Lust noticed as well was…

Not a single page complimented his looks. The book didn’t even mention his beauty…

Until the last page.

It showed Asmo, with a big smile, rosy cheeks, and all his friends and family around him.

'You’re beautiful, Asmo.

Outside,

And Inside.’

Reading that, he slowly closed the book.

After more silence, Asmo finally spoke up.

“When… When people see me, they always mention my beauty first” he claims. “My face, my body. Why didn’t you do that?”

Clover gave a little shrug.

“It’s not what I think about first when I think of you.”

She earned a confused look.

“It’s not? What is it, then?”

As a response, Clover tapped the book.

“You’d think the present would be about your appearance, hm? That’s why I decided to draw inside a photo book…” Clover brushed over the demon’s arm, smiling. “You have to stop thinking that your biggest appeal are your looks, Asmo. Because I can fill a book with reasons why I think you’re amazing, without even mentioning your appearance. And I think you needed to see this very badly… Because I don’t want your good looks to throw a shadow over your even better character.”

She beamed him a grin, only to be embraced the second after. So she hugged him back as strongly as she could, not minding that Asmo seemed to be shedding a tear or two on her shoulder.

“People… People rarely speak about my personality, s-so…” Asmo mumbled. “So it’s a little weird… This feeling.”

However, he squeezed her tighter.

“But I thank you so much.”

And she squeezed back.

“You’re welcome.”

Secret Santa Event,

Day 3

This little story belongs to my Christmas project, a series of stories leading up to Christmas Eve! Check my Event Masterlist for more information, and have fun!

A/N: might contain interactions with my MCs CloverandViolet(no spoilers ofc), but you don’t have to know them to understand the story!

“Silent night, holy night,

All is calm, all is bright,

‘Round yon virgin Mother and Child

Holy infant so tender and mild

Sleep in heavenly peace~!

Sleep in heavenly peace…”

Solomon stepped inside the kitchen, searching for where that beautiful singing voice was coming from.

He spotted Luke, bend over the kitchen counter, a piping bag in his hands as he seemed to be icing a batch of freshly made cookies.

Luke was so concentrated that he didn’t notice Solomon’s presence, so the sorcerer took a moment to watch the angel boy at work.

He wore an apron that he had brought with him from the celestial realm, and the blue icing on his cheek must have been a little clumsy accident. He seemed so focused, with his tongue sticking out as he drew deliciously sweet lines on the cookies with admirable precision.

It was a truly pure sight. An angel child, singing Christmas carols while decorating wonderfully smelling cookies with festive motives.

Truly, this little scene felt like the Christmas spirit itself. Warm, calm, joyful…

And Solomon smiled.

Because oh boy, he was SO going to mess with this little boy today.

“Luke, hello!”, Solomon exclaimed, revealing his presence as he approached the blond. “I was wondering what delicious treats you’re baking for us today.”

The boy flinched lightly, being pulled out of his concentration. “Oh, hello, Solomon. I’m making Christmas cookies.”

Mustering the baked goods, Solomon gave a content nod. “I see… Someone’s excited for Christmas, hm?”

A little blush spread on Luke’s cheeks.

“W-well… Christmas became an important holiday for humans, so since about a century, angels have been celebrating it as well.”

“I see… But, say, will Santa be able find you this year if you’re in the Devildom?”

A visible shock went through Luke’s body. He kept quiet for a moment, then mumbled an “O-of course he will…!”

Solomon let out a chuckle. “Well, you certainly are such a well-behaved child, I am sure Santa won’t forget your present.”

At the word 'present’, Luke’s expression made an excited little twitch. It was obvious how much Luke loved Christmas, and receiving presents seemed to be no exception.

Ohh, that only made it better for Solomon.

The human sorcerer kept watching Luke finish his cookies.

“This is quite the big batch” Solomon then hummed. “Do you plan on eating that many cookies?”

Luke shook his head. “Half of them are for Lord Diavolo. He asked me to bake some traditional Christmas treats so he could get the full Christmas experience.”

Solomon raised his eyebrows.

Perfect.

“Oh, so those are for the demon prince…?” He made a little pause to appear like he was thinking about something. “Hey, Luke… I heard that demons fancy this milk that you get from hell goats. It is rather rare, as hell goats can spit lava and fun things like that. But people say it’s a demon’s favourite winter beverage ever.”

“… Barbatos said something about hell goats before…” Luke mumbled, a little unsure about where Solomon was going with this.

Of course not behaving shady at all, Solomon continued. “And don’t cookies go perfect together with a glass of milk? So I thought, how about we get some and enhance the Prince’s experience to a maximum?”

Luke’s face curled in complete displease. “No. Hunting for rare Devildom groceries never went well so far!”

“But Luke!” Solomon kept going, “I happen to know a place that sells hell goat milk. It’s a little outside of town, but I would accompany you, of course.”

“But why should I?”

And Solomon knew he got him right where he wanted.

“Well… Isn’t Christmas all about showing love and going out of your way to put a smile on someone’s face~?”

Luke kept quiet, visibly struggling.

Meanwhile Solomon’s smile grew wider….

“I bet Santa would have done the same, you know…”

… Because now, Luke just couldn’t say no.

———

“Santa would be really proud of you, you know.” Solomon said, guiding Luke through the Devildom streets.

“Solomon, I really don’t want to hear this right now…”

“Hey, there is no need to worry, Luke! We’re only heading to one of the shadiest bars in the whole Devildom, nothing to be scared abou-”

“WE’RE WHAT?!”

Luke came to an abrupt stop. “You told me we’d visit some of your demon friends!”

Solomon, turning around to look at him, tilted his head in confusion.

“Yeah. My friends… At a shady bar.”

The grumpy expression on Luke’s face was back.

“I’m going home”, he pouted, already turning around and stomping off.

The sorcerer breathed sharply, watching Luke go. “Oh, I would step right there-”

A hidden trapdoor opened under Luke’s feet and the angel boy fell down the now opened hole with a high pitched scream.

Only slightly bothered, Solomon looked at the trapdoor in a contemplative manner.

“Well, they told me about their entrance being hidden, but man, even I did not see that coming.”

———

Luke didn’t fall deep, and something soft had ensured that the landing was at least not painful.

Heaving himself up to sit, he opened his eyes to see…

Nothing.

It was dark, but there were noises around him. Lots of them. Voices murmuring, the clattering of cups against tables.

Then, the lights turned on. Luke found himself in the middle of a rusty underground bar…

Full of countless demons that were all staring at him, every single one of them.

Luke’s eyes widened in terror.

Demons. So many of them, and all so, so mad that a little boy intruded their secret place.

Most of them were in their demon forms, their horns reflecting the dim light dangerously, and their wings and tails were swaying threateningly as the demons pierced through Luke with their gazes.

“Hey, angel kid. Did it hurt to fall from the sky?”, Someone called out.

Laughter.

“Heh, look, this little bird wants to be our dinner tonight!”

More laughter. Those… monsters seemed to be enjoying themselves so much, while Luke would shiver and shake more with each passing seconds.

Then, some of them stood up, their eyes turning dark as they started approaching Luke.

The boy squealed, trying to search for an escape route.

“Get him” one demon said.

Luke went completely pale.

They were serious. And he was done for.

He’d get eaten alive for sure. There was no escape route, no familiar face to help him…

Just as they were about to dash towards him, however, something colourful hit the corner of Luke’s vision.

… A box?

It did not look like it belonged here at all.

Kind of on instinct, and because the demons were charging towards him from the other direction, Luke ran towards the box.

Towards a present, to be precise.

Screaming in fear, he then saw his name written on the present.

And with the most speed he could bring up, Luke reached the box and ripped it open.

He pulled out the contents…

Suddenly, all the demons stopped, backing away from him immediately.

They hissed, turning away from the object in pain.

Confused, Luke looked at the chain in his hand, identifying it as an antique looking necklace.

“Luke, good job!”

A familiar voice rang through the room.

Solomon.

The sorcerer pushed himself through the crowd of demons, smiling his shady little smile as he approached the angel.

“You survived!” Solomon cheered. “And it looks like you found my Christmas present for you, too.”

The angel’s mouth fell open.

He could only stare at Solomon, still shaking heavily.

“You… This… I…” Luke stammered.

“Merry Christmas!”, was all Solomon had to say.

“YOU SET THIS WHOLE THING UP JUST TO GIVE ME A CHRISTMAS PRESENT?!”

“Jup. It’s a magic relict that even the strongest demons can’t come near to if its owner sees them as their enemy. I wanted to show you it’s effect in person!”

“BUT I COULD HAVE DIED!?”

To Luke’s surprise, another familiar person stepped closer.

Turning, Luke recognised Asmodeus as he put a hand on the child’s head, petting him softly.

“Nobody would have actually harmed you” Asmo explained. “Every demon here is one that has a pact with Solomon, so everyone was following his commands. Still, even I think that was a little too much…”

Solomon gave a laugh.

“Don’t be like that, Asmo. I made sure to take care of everything potentially dangerous. So, once again, merry Christmas, Luke.”

But Luke wouldn’t return his smile in any way.

“I… You… Do you have any idea what 'giving warmth and love and Christmas’ means?!? Why would you even think of staging a fake demon attack as part of my present?!”

“Because I know that you fear demons a lot” Solomon responded. “And now, you saw that with this necklace, you don’t need to be afraid ever again.”

“But… This… Urgggh!!” Luke grunted. “You’re awful, Solomon! Worse than those demons!!”

And Solomon would only continue to chuckle.

“Well, too bad, because that necklace won’t protect you against me!”

Secret Santa Event,

Day 2

This little story belongs to my Christmas project, a series of stories leading up to Christmas Eve! Check my Event Masterlist for more information, and have fun!

A/N: might contain interactions with my MCs CloverandViolet(no spoilers ofc), but you don’t have to know them to understand the story!

At last, the time has come.

The first day of giving out presents was growing near, the first day of taking the role of Santa Claus to spread happiness and warmth.

And who could possibly be a better first Santa than that one demon whose name is feared and hated by Christianity…

… Yeah, Satan was the first one to go.

He had felt weird about the whole idea at first, and was one of the few demons that actually knew that Santa had been made up by a soft drink company for the sole purpose of earning more money.

Hence, it was difficult for him to really catch that Christmas spirit.

In RAD’s library, there was little to no literature about the topic, either, so in the end, Satan decided to go and ask the human girls questions about Christmas.

“You get together and spend some quality time” Clover explained. “That’s really the crucial part. When it’s all cold and gloomy outside, Christmas is an occasion to unite people, to show that you care about your friends and family.”

Violet gave a strong nod.

“And as for the presents… It does not have to be anything expensive, or exotic. For example, Clover and I often draw something for each other, or write little stories. It may not seem like much, but the effort is what counts.”

“Yeah!” Clover hummed. “As long as you make the other person smile, that’s all that matters. The little gestures and simply your love and support is what matters.”

——-

And so, Satan browsed his mind for ideas, something that would show his secret Santa partner his feelings for them. By thinking more about the person himself, Satan realised there was a lot he could buy them that would all make them happy for sure.

But that alone wouldn’t be sufficient.

What that person needed was, truly, nothing more than appreciation and warmth.

Because most of the time, they felt the exact opposite of that about themself.

Satan knew some of those feelings himself, of not feeling good enough, not feeling like a likable person in general.

So, cheeky and dramatic as Satan was, he decided to go all out to show his partner what he thought of them.

——–

The next morning, Leviathan’s phone started ringing pretty early in the morning.

Tired, he sat up in his bathtub bed and reached for his phone to see that Satan was calling him.

“Hngh… Satan…? What’s wrong, it’s the weekend… Why are you calling me…?”

Check your floor” was all Satan said before hanging up the phone again.

Confused and groaning in tiredness, Levi heaved himself out of the bathtub, noticing an envelope in front of his door.

Opening it, he found a short note inside:

Levi, I really like that you are always up for a game, a challenge. You might not think you are, but you have a strong competitive side, and I admire your will to fight when the issue is important to you. Keep that up.’

The demons eyes widened in surprise over the sudden compliment, and he grew even more surprised when another note was slid underneath his door.

He sprung up, pulling the door open, but as he looked out into the hallway, there was no one to be found.

The next note said “Out into the garden”, and even though Levi did not feel like running around for some stupid games Satan seemed to be playing, he still made his way outside.

Between the rose bushes growing in their garden, Levi found another note:

‘What I also find highly special about you is your infinite knowledge about your passions. Games and Anime are a medium difficult for me to grasp, but it’s remarkable how you stand for what you like, and continue to pursue it with happiness. Maybe I could try reading a Manga you recommend me sometime.’

“… None of my brothers ever told me it’s cool that I’m an Otaku…” Levi mumbled, feeling weird inside.

Intrigued, Levi kept looking around the garden, nearly stepping on his next hint.

Formed with flower petals and branches, there was “attic” written in the grass.

Sighing over all the stairs he’d have to take for that, Levi continued his treasure hunt.

Up in Belphie’s favourite room to sleep, there was nobody to be seen again. At first, Levi thought that his youngest brother might be indeed taking a nap here, looking at the impressive pillow fort that somebody made in the middle of the room.

But as Levi peeked inside, there was no living being in there. Only lots of blankets, a cup of hot chocolate and a little lamp that illuminated the interior in its soft, golden light.

Levi made the weirdest gasp sound ever.

The lamp wasn’t just a simple lamp, no.

It was shaped like one of the creatures from Mononoke Island, one with powers to spend light through the darkest of times. It was one of his favourite monsters to catch, but honestly, he didn’t even know such a lamp existed. But there it was, a cute ribbon attached to it with a little tag saying “for Leviathan”. Also, stuck underneath the creature’s toe was a piece of paper:

Our family is truly a weird constellation of all possible opposites there could be. But out of all, I would say you have the most colourful and unique character.

Actually, I envy you for that.

As my older brother, I have respect for who you are as a person, what you are capable of doing if you put your mind to it.

I sincerely hope that one day, you will be able to overcome your inner doubts and acknowledge your true potential and strength as well.’

The avatar of Envy felt very, very weird inside.

A tiny warm tingle made his heart flutter as he read Satan’s words, but this dark, disgusting voice in his head killed the spark of joy immediately.

He’s just saying it because he has to be nice.

You’re not better than anyone, and you know it.

He’s probably mocking you with this.

How could anyone possibly envy YOU?

Suddenly, the door closed shut in a loud bang, causing Levi to flinch out of his thoughts.

The demon crawled out of the pillow fort to inspect the door, finding the next note stuck on it:

Drink up your hot chocolate and bring that new lamp of yours to your room. It’s waiting to be part of your collection.’

Levi did what he was told, expecting something from the hot chocolate, but as he couldn’t find any cryptic clues in or outside the emptied cup, he carefully took hold of the lamp and headed towards his room.

He actually already knew the perfect place for the lamp. Above his desk, there was a spot that could use some light, and that way, he’d always be able to admire that cute little-

Levi came to an abrupt stop in front of his door.

There were people. Inside his room. Chatting.

Angered over how anyone could even dare to enter his room when he wasn’t there, he opened the door…

Satan was inside, talking to someone whose face seemed awfully familiar.

Levi couldn’t believe it. He stood there, mouth open, staring at the guest in his room.

“Is… Is that…?”, Levi stuttered.

Satan gave a smile, pulling his brother further into the room.

“Levi, perfect timing. May I introduce you to my friend here? Although I assume you already know about him-”

“A-a-a-are you Satoshi Tajiri, the d-d-d-developer of Mononoke Island?!?” Levi was visibly shaking as he squealed those words.

The guest reached out a hand. “Pleased to meet you, Mister Leviathan. Your brother told me you are a big fan of Mononoke Island, and asked me if I would be interested in having a little chat with you.”

“I told him you have a refined sense for games, so Mister Tajiri would be interested in hearing your opinion on his game”, Satan said.

The developer gave a cheerful nod.

“Also, I heard you have ideas for some new monsters for my game. I would love to implement one of those in the next edition.”

There were some solid seconds of awkward silence in which Levi had to process what just happened.

He looked at Satan.

“How… How…”

The avatar of Wrath would only continue to smile. “I am friends with someone in the company, so I contacted them to see if they could help out with a little… Christmas miracle.”

The blue haired male remained completely shook, so Satan took the lead and excused himself, leaving the two to have a nice little chat over everything Levi could possibly manage to say within the two hours they were having the meeting.

—–

Truly, this was one of the best moments in Levi’s life. The developer liked his designs, and took notes on his comments.

It also turned out that the lamp Levi got was a prototype of a planned merchandise series, meaning he was currently the only one in possession of one of those.

Their chat came to an end, and with that, the developer and Levi said their goodbyes.

However, before stepping out of the door, the man turned around one last time.

“Your brother told me to give this to you…”

He handed Levi a folded paper before leaving.

So Levi unfolded the paper. As he read the note, his eyes widened.

And his stomach got all warm and fuzzy.

'I know your mindset.

But know, Levi,

I meant every word I wrote, on each note.

Merry Christmas, my brother.’

Secret Santa Event, Day 1 - Prologue

This little story belongs to my Christmas project, a series of stories leading up to Christmas Eve! Check my Event Masterlist for more information, and have fun!

A/N: this prologue contains quite a few interactions with my MCs CloverandViolet, but they won´t make an appearance in every story.

Devildom was a truly weird place.

The land of the demons knew no sun, no seasons, did not know about many things that were common in the other two realms.

As demons, the citizens tend to be more reckless, more daring as well as more willing to cut your throat if you give them one wrong look.

So maybe, this place was not meant to harbour any warmth to begin with.

But since several months, the Devildom was being visited by five exchange students:

Two angels, and three human beings.

And since then, some things have slowly started to change, or will soon be about to. This was caused by the mere fact that a certain prince found a big liking in the foreign cultures, especially in everything that humans did.

Whether it was establishing new cuisine on his favourite restaurants’ menus, or celebrating festivities that nobody has ever heard of, the Devildom’s prince would not halt to show his likings in their cultures.

And thusly, again, on a cold wintery day, the prince would find himself amazed by yet another of humanities dearest traditions.

Two of the human exchange students, Violet and Clover, were visiting prince Diavolo at his castle to celebrate that they survived another month in the Devildom without getting eaten by some lower demon.

This day, in the last week of November, the first snowflakes were softly swaying in the wind, piling up in gentle little blankets of pure white.

And while Diavolo was having a heated conversation with Violet, Clover was staring out of the window, feeling this little sting called homesickness in her chest.

“… And because Lucifer had fallen asleep at his desk, Mammon and Satan took the chance to sneak inside, trying to not only take a picture of him, but they also wanted to put a voice modifier potion in his coffee!” Diavolo narrated in great amusement.

However, the demon lord’s butler, Barbatos, seemed to have noticed Clover’s averted gaze, as well as her slightly saddened expression.

So, having stood a bit aside the table, he took a step forward to gain her attention.

“Is there something ailing you, Clover?”

Now that the girl was meeting his worried expression, her first impulse was to simply shake it off and put on a smile. But as the other two gave her the same look, she gave a little sigh.

“Hey, uhm…” Clover mumbled, “Lord Diavolo, do you guys celebrate Christmas?” She saw how his eyes grew wider, and feared she might have said something stupid. “I-I mean, you probably don’t, since it’s a Christian tradition and you and church are probably SO not close, but, uhm, it’s December and it’s snowing and I love Christmas, so I… felt a little sad as we probably won’t be celebrating it this year, but… ah, uh… N-nevermind I said anything, this is probably really stupid…”

The demon prince kept his expression, but now Clover noticed the sparkle of excitement in his eyes.

“What is Christmas?” he asked.

“It’s a holiday we celebrate on the 24th of December” Violet explained. “Originally, people celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, but a lot of families that aren’t Christian are celebrating it nowadays as well. It’s an occasion to get together with your family, and you eat, exchange presents, things like that.”

And so, the girls spend about an hour telling Diavolo everything they knew about Christmas. From the Christmas tree, to Christmas markets to whatever llittle tradition they knew of.

At some point, the girls were reminiscing about their old school days.

“Remember when we did a secret Santa event among our group of friends?” Clover smiled. “You gave me that cool jacket one time!”

“Oh, yeah, I remember!” Violet returned the grin.

Diavolo tilted his head.

“Secret Santa?” he repeated. “I thought that nice man named Santa was the one giving out the presents to children. Is there a secret second Santa that I need to know of?”

The girls gave a little laugh.

“Ah, no, it means we gave each other presents without the recieving person knowing who the present was from. Well, at least right before recieving the present” Violet tried to explain.

Barbatos gave a content nod, having listened in to their stories as well.

“I see…” The butler mumbled. “You were pretending to be Mr. Claus in order to give out presents in secret. But why is the secretiveness a necessity when Mr. Claus is giving out presents on Christmas either way?”

The girls exchanged a glance, slowly regretting that they told the two of them about Santa Claus. They wanted to make a joke and pretend like he exists, but somehow, both, Diavolo and Barbatos, seemed to not have heard the “we TELL the children it’s Santa Claus” - part…

It took some time, in which the demons proceeded to think Santa was real, to explain how a secret Santa project worked.

But once they had finished, Diavolo’s eyes had reached the maximum excitement they could bear.

Rising from his seat, it felt like a little child was beaming a smile at them.

“I want to do a secret Santa!!”

— the next day in the student council room —

“A… What? Diavolo, what are you talking about?”

“Lucifer, don’t tell me you don’t know what a secret Santa is?!” Diavolo gasped in surprise. “It’s a crucial part of Humanity’s Christmas tradition!”

Violet and Clover were hiding their grins. The whole student council of RAD, as well as all the exchange students were called into an emergency meeting by Diavolo. Barbatos had whispered them that, after their visit, the prince had kept talking about Christmas for hours, and now he was about to convince everyone to celebrate it this year.

“We will organise a big poll, and every student of RAD will secretly pick another student that he will then be a secret Santa to. It will be amazing, and a cultural enrichment for us all!” Diavolo kept going after the three humans had given the demons a short explanation of what Christmas is.

“Lord Diavolo, I appreciate the thought… But are you sure it is possible to make the whole school engage in your plan?” Simeon softly chimed in.

“I have to agree” Satan nodded. “I also fear some demons might have difficulties with celebrating a Christian holiday.”

Asmodeus shot Satan a teasing glare from across the room.

“You mean YOU are mad because we’re going to celebrate the birth of that one kid who made trillions of people hate you, huh Satan?”

“Asmo, stop mocking your brother” Lucifer scolded the avatar of lust next to him. However, the oldest then pulled a concerned expression of his own. “However, I must agree, Diavolo. I respect your ideas, but you are trying to work on a scale too big for us to handle.”

The demon prince gave a little sigh, crossing his arms as he was thinking about their words.

“You could be right…” he mumbled.

“Uhm…” Violet spoke up after silence had settled in the room. “Can’t we just do it in a private little group?”

Clover next to her nodded in agreement. “Yeah!” she exclaimed. “just with everyone who’s here right now. It’ll be less complicated that way.”

“Y'all expect me to make someone a present?!” Mammon seemed to have realised just now.

“You’ll get a present in return, you greedy idiot” Levi hissed.

The second oldest kept grumbling some unpleased little comments to himself, but other than that, no-one seemed to be opposed to the idea. Most of them looked like they were looking forward to it… And maybe, a certain little angel child was VERY excited as well.

And even if anyone was against the idea at first, how could one possibly decline when Diavolo seemed to look so overjoyed and happy about the idea alone.

“Then it’s decided!” He announced with sparkling eyes.

“This year, RADs student council and the honorary exchange members will hold a secret Santa Christmas event!”

Concluding this little introduction, the group established the following rules:

  • the secret Santa is chosen at random and cannot be exchanged with another person
  • each day, one lucky person would get their present. This order will be drawn by lot as well. The recieving person, however, does not know when he/she will get their present.
  • you may not tell whom you have to give a present to, and may not spoil anyone who their secret Santa is
  • have fun and spread love! Merry Christmas!

“… Is that last point really necessary?”

Belphie raised an eyebrow as Clover wrote down the list of rules.

“Yes, yes it is. Christmas is a time of being together, of warmth, and love! I want all of you to really think about a present that will warm the other person’s heart.”

“That’s awfully cheesy…” Lucifer mumbled. “Why can’t I buy something that the person needs? Something efficient and useful.”

“Christmas is not about efficiency!” Clover pouted at Lucifer. “It’s about showing that you care.”

“Sounds nice” Beel smiled. “I’ll try my best.”

“That’s the spirit!” Clover cheered.

The group stared at the list for a little longer, then Satan raised his voice.

“I see difficulties with the second to last rule. How can you guarantee that no one spills their secrets?”

Violet gave a sad laugh. “Yeah, well… You can’t? It kind of happens naturally, there’s always someone who can’t keep the secret.”

We won’t talk about how most of the gazes turned towards Mammon there. We know he’d be the first one to bother you to tell him your secret Santa partner. He’s just an overexcited (and nosy) bean like that.

“But I want it to be a secret!!” Luke whined. “We should all come up with the presents on our own, its way more thrilling that way!”

“My Luke, you’re really enthusiastic about this…” Asmo chuckled.

Then, suddenly, Diavolo stretched out his arm.

“Everyone, place your hand on mine” he ordered.

As everyone obliged, he placed his second hand on top of the tower they have built.

And, wow, believe me that I really, REALLY wanna write “and then they all made a promise to keep their secrets like some kindergarten toddlers :)”

… But I won’t. This is Devildom, so things need a little more pizazz here.

What pizazz?

Well, just the curse that Diavolo put on every single one of them that moment. One that will cause anyone who dares spoiling or spilling any secrets regarding this secret Santa to suffer indescribable pain. That little way-too-extreme Devildom pizazz.

They even got a little curse mark on their hands, which would only be lifted when every last present was handed out.

And while the two human girls and Luke had to process what just happened, Diavolo, again, was all fired up to finally start the secret Santa event now.

So they drew lots…

And what happened the next days, you will find out very, very soon ❤

Christmas Market Event,

Day 4

Group three: Mammon, Levi, Satan and Belphie

This little story belongs to my Christmas project, a series of stories leading up to Christmas Eve! Check my Event Masterlist for more information, and have fun!

Diavolo, Solomon, Beel and Clover made their way to the market first. Asmo dragged Barbatos away soon after, and Satan and Belphie excused themselves as they had an “important investigation” to make.

So, Mammon turned towards the avatar of Envy. “Come on, let´s get going, too.”

“Eh?!” Levi furrowed his brows. “Why should I go with YOU?” He said, but as Mammon was already heading out of the alley, Levi subconsciously hurried after him.

“Ya always want me to give you your money back, right?” Mammon started. “Well, if ya help me find some rare, human world goods at the market, we´ll make some big cash, and I might actually give you some of that…”

Thus, they ended up wandering through the market together, until Mammon was too unsatisfied with their hunt so far.

“This won´t cut it…” he mumbled. “I get the feeling those humans are hiding the really good stuff from us.”

“What are you on about, Mammon” Levi shook his head. “This is a Christmas market, not a black mark… Hey, you´re not allowed to go behind the stalls!”

Mammon turned around and froze for a second,

But then he simply mumbled a “nah” and waved it off, proceeding to sneak into the “staff only” area.

Letting out the greatest sigh, Leviathan was waiting. And waiting. And waiting more.

Until, a few stalls ahead, Mammon´s head popped up, waving for his brother to come over all agitated.

“What is it?” Levi hissed, however approaching him. “Mammon, if you steal from these innocent people, I will tell Lucifer, and then-“

He stopped all his actions the moment he saw what it was his brother had found.

Or, better, who it was.

“M… Mammon… What´cha… got there…?” Levi crouched down to get a better look.

Mammon threw him a stressed glance. “Look, I was minding my business, and suddenly I hear this weird sound coming from the corne-“

He got interrupted by a sudden motion. And the moment after, Mammon´s newfound “treasure” was clinging onto Leviathan, wailing loudly into his chest.

Levi´s face contorted into the weirdest grimaces.

“T…T-T-T…” He trembled. “TAKE IT AWAAAAAAYYY‼”

————-

Mammon rubbed his temples in hopes of easing his throbbing headache. Levi on the other hand had his eyes squished together, doing the ruthless act of praying that all of this was nothing but a bad, bad dream.

And with them, there was this human child, still clinging onto Leviathan´s leg while playing around with Mammon´s glasses.

Satan and Belphie couldn´t believe their eyes when they spotted them. They were guided to them as Mammon was spam-calling them minutes ago. But of course, both Satan and Belphie were wearing the widest grins, watching the miserable state their elder brothers were in.

“… Just how did you two end up in that situation?” Satan asked.

“It’s Mammon´s fault!” Levi grunted immediately. But as he raised his voice, the little girl started whining. “Aaahh, no, don´t cry, Anna… H-here, look at these cool, uh…” Quickly he ripped off the accessories Mammon had attached to his belt. “…Feathers I have! Th—there fun to play with, right?!”

“Oi!” Mammon huffed, but the child was already equipped with his next possession. “I´ll be naked in a minute if you continue to give her all my stuff!”

“Well, what am I supposed to do?!”

Belphie and Satan were pondering on whether they should continue watching this silly scene, but in the end, Belphie decided to speak up.

“So, uhm, you guys left off to the Christmas market and decided to get yourself a child?”

“Very funny” Mammon grumbled. “No, we found her behind one of the stalls, all to herself and crying n stuff…”

“Why am I not surprised to hear you were wandering around behind the shops, Mammon?” Satan grinned, enjoying this way too much.

“Look, are ya guys here to help or what?!” the avatar of Greed hissed. “If not then ya can get screwed and continue to bully Lucifer:”

“We´re not bullying him” Satan corrected.

“Yeah, we´re just making preparations for our next coup…” Belphie shrugged.

But eventually, Satan crouched down to greet the girl with a gentle smile.

“So, you´re Anna, hm?” The girl hid behind the end of Levi´s coat, but gave a small nod in response. So Satan continued: “It looks like you found quite the liking on my brother Levi.”

“I don´t know why, but she won´t leave me alone…!” Levi whispered in distress. “This is horrible, she´s been leaving her snot all over my clothes, and whenever I try to peel her off me she looks at me with these puppy eyes and aaarrghhh…!”

Belphie looked at him with a smirk. “You should be grateful that finally someone fell for you” he teased, immediately feeling how he was this close to having Lotan summoned right in front of him.

“Well, Mammon” Satan started as he got back up. “You found her, so you have to take responsibility and bring her back to her parents.”

The second-born let out an annoyed groan. “But I don’t wannaaa…‼”

“You say that, but if you really didn´t care, you wouldn´t have called us to help you out” Belphie noticed.

“Sh-Shaddup” Mammon mumbled.

“Guys, can we please get going” Levi asked, looking more on the edge of crying than the lost, little girl.

“Yeah, yeah, let´s find her parents” Satan nodded. Then he beamed the child another smile. “Hey, Anna! Don´t you want to sit on Levi´s shoulders?! You´ll be suuuper tall!”

“Satan you-“ Levi began, but his fate has already been decided. So, now with a child wrapped around his head, the four brothers started to search through the market.

———–

After walking around for a while, the group decided to split up into pairs again. Anna had described her parents to the demons, so Satan and Belphie went to scan another part of the market.

While searching, the Anti-Lucifer League members spotted a police officer and where about to ask him for help. But somehow, that officer seemed really busy already, hurrying through the plaza with Barbatos and Asmodeus right behind them.

“Oh, hello, Satan!” Asmo babbled in a wide grin before disappearing in the crowd again.

“Were… Were they drunk?” Belphie asked. “Like, both of them?”

Satan gave a shrug. “Looked like it. Man, I also wish we could enjoy the market more… But we have to find those parents first.”

Continuing their walk, Belphie gave a sigh. “Mammon and Levi are too soft at heart, really…”

“True” his brother chuckled. “They´d never admit it, but that kid most likely has them wrapped around her tiny finger by now…”

———-

Yes, yes the kid had them wrapped around their finger.

“Uncle Wevi!” Anna called out. “Go faster!”

Sighing, Levi tightened his grip to keep her steady on his shoulders and did a cute gallop through the crowd.

“Uncle Mwammon, I want cotton candy!”

“W-well… Fine, but only a small one, ya hear?!”

They´ve been wandering around the place for a while now, cycling through the area where they met Anna, but they haven´t come across a pair of concerned parents yet. And as time flew by, this random kid had found such a liking to the two rulers of hell that she ended up, let´s say “kindly asking” for stuff to get her.

“You know…” Mammon spoke up as they made a cotton candy break. “She´s kinda cute.”

“Try saying that when it´s YOUR hair she´s grabbing her sticky hands with” Levi huffed, munching down his treat in a pout.

A mischievous grin spread on Mammon´s face, but soon he´d muster his brother in a thoughtful manner. “… Never thought you´d be good with kids” he said.

“ME?” Levi repeated. “GOOD WITH KIDS?? I feel like having a seizure the whole time, how in the three realms is that supposed to be good?!”

“I mean, she likes you” Mammon shrugged. “You´ve been keeping her from crying this whole time.”

Startled, Levi averted his eyes. They waited for Anna to finish her cotton candy and continued their search.

Making another few stops here and there, the two noticed how it was soon time for them to head back to the meeting point again.

“Seriously, how didn´t we find her parents ye-“ Mammon started, then his DDD started buzzing.

“Mammon?” Satan´s voice rang through from the other end. “We´ve found her parents. Meet us at the Ferris wheel.”

———–

A short walk later, Levi was finally able to let Anna down again. The girl ran towards her parents, being engulfed in their hug immediately. It turned out Anna´s parents weren´t at the Christmas market to begin with, as Anna had snuck out of their nearby home to go visit the market herself.

“We want to visit the market tomorrow, but apparently, our girl got impatient” the father explained.

“Thank you so much for taking care of her” The mother smiled. “How could we possibly express our gratitude?”

“I take payment in cash-OW!“ Mammon said but Satan´s elbow prevented him from saying more.

“Seeing her back with her family is rewarding enough” Satan smiled politely.

A couple more thank you´s later, the family excused themselves. As they turned around to leave, Anna turned in her mother´s arms to wave the demons goodbye.

“Bye, Uncle Mwammon! Bye, Unlce Wevi!”

And of course, it hurt a tiny bit to say goodbye now.

Mammon and Levi kept waving back for awkwardly long, fighting the frown forming on their faces.

“Don´t cry, you two” Belphie chuckled.

“We´re not! I have cotton candy in my hair, how could I be sad over her leaving?!” Levi hissed, however, while pouting.

“Yeah! She destroyed my precious glasses, there´s no way I could be sad, either!” Mammon said, however, also pouting.

Smiling, Satan and Belphie shook their heads.

“Let´s go now” Belphie said. “We should head back to our family now, too.”

“He´s right” Satan nodded, and they got going.

“After all” the blond added, “I´m curious to see what Lucifer thought of the little surprise we organized for him…”

Heeey, little update regarding the Christmas Event…

I’m afraid I might end up shortening it by a few days, since I’ve been really stressed these last days. I don’t want to force myself to write multiple pages of a story each day, that would only kill my fun and most probably also decrease the fic’s quality immensely.

I will finish the Christmas Market Arc though! They’ll drop somewhen between today and the Christmas holidays.

Also a little thanks for every comment, reblog or ask on the event, it makes me so happy to read your opinions about it!

Christmas Market Event,

Day 3

Group two: Asmo, Barbatos, and a hint of Diavolo & Solomon

This little story belongs to my Christmas project, a series of stories leading up to Christmas Eve! Check my Event Masterlist for more information, and have fun!

Even half an hour after Diavolo had left off without him, Diavolo´s words were ringing in Barbatos´ears:

No need for you to escort me, Barbatos.

Letting out another big sigh, Barbatos let himself be dragged across this human world Christmas market by Asmodeus.

“Come on, Barbatos, you need to get over it!” Asmo scolded, just like he had done after every of the butler´s sighs so far. “This isn´t the first time Lord Diavolo is someplace without you. Why is it bothering you now?”

Barbatos´ face formed the slightest pout.

“The Young Lord has never declined my escorts so bluntly…” he explained. “It felt like he almost ached to get away from me… As if I´d hinder him in having a good time.”

Luckily, the butler was too deep in his thoughts to catch that look Asmo gave him. And immediately after, the avatar of Lust was quick to put on a radiant smile.

“Don´t worry your head over it! I´m certain Lord Diavolo wanted to mix things up for a change. And don´t you think that’s the perfect opportunity for you to let loose, too?”

Eyeing the stalls they were passing, Barbatos gave a shrug. “I suppose you could say that…”

“Great!” Asmo cheered. “Then, I say the two of us have a little toast on that, and then we´ll go have the greatest time one can have at a Christmas market!” He gestured towards the stall that Asmo seemed to be heading to.

“Mulled wine?” Barbatos read from the neatly written sign.

“Yeah!” Asmo grinned. “I doubt this human world alcohol will have any effect on us, so it should be fine to drink a cup or two, right?”

As they came to a stop in front of the stall, Barbatos mustered it some more. It was obvious he was still unsure, but then Asmo whispered to him with a smirk.

“Let´s show Lord Diavolo how much of a fun person you can be, so that he´ll never turn down one of your escorts again, hm~?”

And with sparkling eyes, Barbatos gave a nod.

“Let´s do it.”

—————

So, uhm…

It seems like the mulled wine had more of an effect on the demons than anticipated. Maybe because it was heated, maybe because of the spices, maybe because Asmo and Barbatos ended up drinking way more than one usually would – but soon, both found themselves in that quirky, just-so-able-to-walk-normally state of drunk.

And that on itself was fascinating, as Barbatos wasn´t one to be influenced by Devildom alcohol that much. Now, however, he found himself hunched over a wooden table, whining about his worries:

“I just can´t believe he turned me down like that” Barbatos sulked. “The Young Lord´s well-being is my top priority at all times, and yet he´s always searching for an excuse to get away from me… Asmo, am I doing something wrong?”

Asmodeus, seated next to Barbatos, was taking the mulled wine a little better. Gently patting the butler´s back, he shook his head heavily. “No, darling, you´re a great butler! Anyone would be happy to have you watching over them. I mean look at you! You´re smart, strong, handsome – like, look at your pretty eyes, and that cute hair of yours – Lord Diavolo would be a fool to dodge a demon like you!” He was playing with Barbatos´ hair as he spoke, maybe invading his space a biiit too much, but Barbatos would only sniffle and nod.

“Thank you, Asmodeus” he mumbled. “You´re a true friend.”

“You´re welcome” Asmo smiled. “Now, what do you say we walk around a bit? Maybe buy a thing or two? It´s not often we get to hang out in the human world, after all.”

“Yes” Barbatos nodded. “I´d like that.”

So they got up to take a look at the remaining stalls, but it didn´t take them too long until Barbatos spotted a familiar face in the crowd.

“Hey, Asmodeus… “He mumbled, pointing at a person a few stalls away. “Isn´t that… Lord Diavolo?”

“Oh yeah” Asmo hummed. “And Solomon, too. Wow, the poor guy is packed with shopping bags…”

“The Young Lord must have bought all these…” Barbatos grumbled, unconsciously walking towards them now.

“Wait!” Asmo managed to stop him. “You can´t approach him! We´re trying to have fun without Lord Diavolo, remember?”

“Ah, you´re right…” Barbatos stopped. However, a moment later, he shot Asmo a somewhat bashful glance. “But, uhm… Do you think we could… maybe… Continue our walk in the same direction as them?”

Asmo´s eyes widened. “You want to tail them?!” he gasped, to which a guilty blush spread on the butler´s face. “Barbatos, you devious man!”

“I-I´m sorry, I shouldn´t have proposed such conniving ide-“

“I love it.”

“… Huh?” Barbatos tilted his head.

“I love it” Asmo repeated, a mischievous spark in his eyes. “Let´s hurry, I bet we´ll end up with some juicy tea to spill about them…! Aaah, I´m so EXCITED!”

“T-tea…? What has tea to with – uah!” Barbatos started, not quite following but by now, Asmo was already pushing Barbatos into Diavolo´s and Solomon´s direction.

————–

The pair was successfully tailing Solomon and Diavolo for quite a while.

They were amazed by the amount of items Diavolo ended up buying – while half laughing at, half feeling sorry for Solomon, as the poor guy that had to carry all that stuff. In a sober state, Barbatos would have jumped to Solomon´s aid by now, but after all the wine he had, everything his dizzy mind could focus on was how Diavolo was enjoying himself to the fullest.

“I am happy for him” Barbatos claimed, hiding in the crowd as he watched Diavolo buy a pair of knitted gloves. “I… I am. But I don´t understand… Why did he have to go without me?! I would´ve advised him to buy the red gloves, not the yellow ones!”

Asmodeus next to him was sipping on another cup of mulled wine. “You tell him when you´re home” he said, his finger gesturing up and down stupidly much. “Let him feel how hopeless he is without his butler.”

“I will” Barbatos grumbled, drinking more of his own wine. “I will… And I will show him that right now!” With that he walked, or rather staggered towards the prince, but thankfully Asmo was able to hold him back.

“No, honey, I tell you, we already went through this” he babbled, his voice too loud and his speech slurred enough for people to turn their heads towards the scene. “If you go up to him now then you lose. But you have to win, you hear?”

Barbatos stared at him, visibly conflicted. Then, biting his lip, he turned to look at Diavolo again – but there was no Diavolo to be seen anymore.

“Wh… Where´s the Young…” the butler mumbled, only seeing Solomon in the crowd. So he threw Asmo a panicked glance. ”We lost Lord Diavolo!”

“Huh?” Now the avatar of Lust was scanning the market as well. “You´re right… And Solomon´s gone, too…”

“What?! But Solomon was there just a second…” Barbatos swirled around. “You´re… You´re right… Something must have happened to them…We have to find them!”

So they lurched through the market, especially Barbatos getting whinier by the second.

“I have failed as a butler” he cried out. “I am never going to find the Young Lord, and it´s my fault for-“

In his misery, he didn´t notice a person crossing his way and instead stumbled right into him. Confused, he looked at the figure and identified him as a police officer.

“Oh… oh officer…!” Barbatos called out with sparkling eyes.

“Hey there…” The officer threw him a sceptical glance. “Can I help you?”

“Yes… Yes, I have lost someone” Barbatos explained. By now, Asmo had caught up to them as well.

The police offer gave a nod. “Okay, stay calm, we´ll find your kid. How old are they?”

“I… I don´t know, I stopped counting at some point” Barbatos waved it off.

“A few thousand years old!” Asmo jumped in to help. “Barb, honey, will this man help us find Lord Diavolo?”

While the demon butler gave a nod, the officer blinked in confusion.

A thous… Lord…?” the human mumbled. “Errr… Okay, so, what does your friend look like?”

Little did he know that encouraged the two demons to info-dump him with details about Diavolo, not even necessarily about his appearance.

“He´s about this tall…”

“He has tanned skin… Just a great man, through and through…”

“He has these big, big muscles that look SO amazing…”

“You have to know him!” Barbatos cried out at some point. “He´s the demon prince, after all!”

The officer slowly furrowed his brow. “The… demon prince… I see…”

“Exactly!” Barbatos smiled. “You know him, right?”

“Sure…” The officer proceeded to grab his police radio and mumbled something into it. He was about to put it back again, but then Asmodeus remembered something else.

“Oh, and we´re looking for a sorcerer, too!”

… You could make out the “come quickly” that the police man murmured into the device, then he turned to the demons again.

“Okay, don´t worry guys, I know where they are.”

“You do?!” Both called out at the same time.

“Yeah, yeah, they´re right at our station. Come, I´ll bring you to right to them.”

—————–

Making their way together with this very nice police officer, Asmo and Barbatos kept babbling things that, really, they shouldn´t say out loud… here… In the human world.

At one stall, they also came across the avatar of Wrath.

“Oh, hello, Satan!” Asmo grinned as they passed the blond, waving at his brother with this inner peace that only sweet alcohol could give you.

While Satan was mustering the scene, the officer´s face was once and for all twisting from confusion to pure stress.

“God help me” he mumbled, shaking his head and picking up his pace.

—————–

A few hours later…

“Asmodeus?”

“What is it, Barbatos?”

“I… I think my head is clearing up again…”

“Uh-huh” Asmo agreed. “Mine too.”

“So, uhm…” Barbatos began. “… Why are we locked up again?”

“I don´t know… But it´s disgusting in this cell, I want to go home already…”

They let out a sigh.

“I wonder how the others are doing” Barbatos mumbled. “Lord Diavolo must be…”

The cell´s door got opened. Blinded by the light, it took the demons a moment to realize it was none other than Diavolo looking down at them.

“There you are!” the prince laughed. “You guys, we were worried about you!”

“Mylord…‼”

“Lord Diavolo!”

The second after, Diavolo found himself in a tight embrace by both of them.

Diavolo let out a chuckle. “Seems like the two of you had one hell of an evening!”

He guided them out of the cell, waving the officer´s goodbye. Outside the building, they were greeted by Solomon.

“My my” the sorcerer grinned. “Am I curious to find out what you guys did to get locked up…”

A few more hugs later, they were heading back to the rest of the group.

“I would have never guessed to see such a side of you” Diavolo said, peeking at Barbatos. “Really, I was baffled when Satan told me about it! Maybe I should have gone with you after all, seeing what adventures you must have lived through.“

Barbatos and Asmo threw each other a glance… and smiled.

“Yes, yes you should have” they said.

Christmas Market Event,

Day 2

Group one: Beel, Clover, Diavolo and Solomon

This little story belongs to my Christmas project, a series of stories leading up to Christmas Eve! Check my Event Masterlist for more information, and have fun!

My MCs VioletandClover are featured in these stories, too, so check out their profiles if you want to know more about them!

————-

The four wanted to get an overview of the market, since none of them have been there before.

However, that proved quite difficult, as Diavolo was so interested in every single stand that the group progressed fairly slow.

The shopkeepers seemed very, very happy over such a polite and nice costumer, so every other second, they engaged in a rather long and passionate conversation about what they were selling.

The others were standing a little at the side, watching the scene.

“… They’ve been talking about knitted gloves for ten minutes now” Solomon sighed. “If we keep going like this, we won’t even see half of the market until it’s time to go again…”

Laughing and awkward laugh, Clover scratched her head. “Well, but it seems like Diavolo is having fun, so…”

Behind her, she heard an excited sniff.

“Something smells delicious” Beel pointed out, looking for the source of that sweet scent. “I think there’s a food stall over there…”

He gave his girlfriend puppy eyes.

Smiling, Clover gave a sigh. “I know you wanna go, but Diavolo is still talking over here…”

“You two can go ahead” Solomon then said. “I’ll watch so that the prince won’t get too excited. We will catch up to you two later.”

Surprised, but gladly taking the offer, the couple continued their tour.

They came across a stall that was selling churros.

“That’s where to good smell is coming from” Beel’s eyes sparkled in excitement. “Can we try them?”

“Sure”, the human girl smiled and they went up to the shopkeeper. Beel started ordering…

“Hello! We’d like one bag of churros.”

Clover eyed him.

One bag. Beel. Ordering. One. Only one. Bag.

They stepped aside, searching for a bench to sit down and try them.

Both humming overly pleased, Clover was happy to see that churros were still as amazing as she remembered them.

“That was delicious” Beel smiled.

“Yeah! Do you want some more?” she dared to ask.

Thinking for a moment, Beel then shook his head.

“I’m good for now. I want to leave room to try other things too, you know?”

And the girl’s eyes widened, watching as Beel stood up, completely fine with having only half a portion of churros.

He didn’t seem hungry at all.

She looked at him.

And smiled.

Good, looks like her plan was working out…

———

They kept wandering around, having a good time while holding hands und chatting with each other.

Beel was looking for something little to gift his twin brother Belphie for Christmas, and also had been eyeing everything in case it would make for a good present for Clover, too.

He decided on a hand knitted scarf for Belphie, as both him and the human girl were in awe over how fluffy it was.

Every now and then, they came by a food stall.

At first, Beel had been asking to try the foods, since most of the dishes were new to him.

At some point, however, it seemed like Clover was the first one to initiate the food-buying.

“We had crêpes just ten minutes ago?” Beel pointed out in confusion as Clover begged him to go buy her some.

“Buuut…” the girl whined. “I’m kinda craving some, you know?”

So of course, Beel went and bought her one.

“O-only one?” Clover bursted out greedily before she could hold herself back. “I-I mean… Don’t you want one, too?”

And as Beel thought about her words, he realised.

“No…” he mumbled. “I’m… not hungry. That’s odd…”

The girl bit her lip. “But… That’s great, isn’t it?” she cheered, giving an odd smile. “You can concentrate on the Christmas market way better this way, don’t you you think?”

Beel gave a slow nod, but remained bothered.

“Sure…”

———–

The two continued.

At some point, they happened to pass Mammon and Levi. They also tried talking to them, but the two seemed in an utter panic. Although Clover’s conscience said to go and look after that matter, they let them be and continued.

Because slowly, the girl felt out of energy, asking to sit down for a moment.

And as they were searching for a quiet place to sit down, she felt worse with every passing second.

Her legs were weak. She couldn’t focus on anything.

And her stomach was aching like crazy.

Beelzebub was helping her walk when he noticed her state, overly worried but the girl kept shaking it off.

“Maybe my body isn’t used to the human world anymore!” she joked.

However, as they reached a bench, Clover collapsed right onto it.

“Clover!” Beel called out, having caught her just in time to prevent her from hitting her head harshly. “What is wrong…?!”

But she seemed to have lost consciousness.

Holding her in his arms, Beel wasn’t sure what to do.

“Clover…? Please, wake up…”

He was about to pick her up und go search for someone to help him, but then she opened her eyes again.

“Hngh… Beel…? What… Just happened…”

“You passed out” Beel whined. “Clover, please, what is going on…?!”

“Ah, don’t… Don’t worry… I’m just tired…”

But this time, Beel wasn’t buying it.

“No” he said. “I now what’s going on with you. Don’t try to lie about it. I know this feeling way too well myself…”

He gently stroke over her cold cheek.

“You’re starving” he mumbled.

The girl lowered her gaze in guilt.

“But why…?” The demon continued. “And why… Am I not? Clover, can you explain what’s happening…?”

Fiddling with her hands, she had trouble speaking up. But it was no use anyways…

“I… Asked Solomon to put a spell on us” she admitted. “I feared that, if you keep being hungry, you won’t enjoy the Christmas market at all. Also, I know you hate it when you loose control over yourself, and as I feared that around so much food, you might do so… I asked Solomon to switch our stomaches for the day…”

The avatar of Gluttony stared at her, irritated.

Then, he pulled her into a tight hug.

“Don’t…” He whispered next to her ear. “Don’t do that ever again… I couldn’t bear loosing you… I don’t want you to starve…”

The girl teared up.

“B-beel… I wouldn’t have…”

“You nearly did!” He shouted, but his harsh tone was followed by a whine. “I’m used to this pain… But your body is not.”

He wrapped an arm underneath her, picking her up from the park bench. “We’ll go search for Solomon. He’ll take care of it.”

“But Beel…!” Clover pouted. “I want you to have fun…! I can-”

“No.” Beel locked eyes with her.

“Clover. What I need to have fun is you at my side. So, will you stay with me for the rest of the day, or do you want to pass out and risk dying so you’ll never ever be at my side again?”

She went silent, narrowed her gaze.

“… I’m sorry…” the girl mumbled. “I… wanted to help…”

“I know. And I thank you for wanting to make me happy. I appreciate that a lot…” He placed a kiss on her forehead. “But I wouldn’t want to loose you for anything. And now, let’s grab something to eat for you and then we’ll find Solomon, okay?”

“Okay… Thank you.”

————

Carrying his now dozing lady piggyback style, Beel wandered around the market, eventually hearing the excited loud voice of his prince.

Turning to search for Diavolo, Beel spotted him as well as a Solomon behind him, packed with countless shopping bags.

It also seemed like the prince was about to buy yet another handmade little thing from some shopkeeper that he just found so friendly that he had to buy their stuff.

Solomon had somehow got himself into playing his butler for the day, carrying everything that had already been bought.

Smiling, Beel headed towards them.

“Solomon!”

The sorcerer turned his head, and, seeing the girl, his expression showed that he feared Clover was eventually going to end up like this.

“I told her about the dangers” Solomon said. Having returned into a darker alley, he was preparing a spell to return her to normal. “But she wasn’t going to change her mind. That’s some dedication, isn’t it?”

As he finished, the girl opened her eyes again.

“Truly” she heard Beel mumble, who was now giving her the warmest look.

“And I love her very dearly for that.”

Christmas Market Event,

Day 1

This little story belongs to my Christmas project, a series of stories leading up to Christmas Eve! Check my Event Masterlist for more information, and have fun!

A/N: today’s snippet contains interactions with my MCs CloverandViolet, but you don’t have to know them to understand the story!

The habitants of the House of Lamentation were sat in the living room. Belphie, Beel and Clover were cuddled together under a blanket, Levi was playing on his Nintendo switch next to the fireplace. Mammon was hogging most of the couch, but Violet next to him didn’t mind, because she had to sit closer to Lucifer that way. Satan and Asmo were sharing an armchair – well, Asmo had been whining until Satan made place for him to make enough space for his booty.

They were either reading, playing games, browsing on their phones, or napping.

And at some point, everyone noticed how quiet it was.

Usually, at least two of the seven brothers would be fighting by now. Lucifer would be at the edge of both, a burnout as well as a tantrum, while, again, at least one other demon would try to push him off that edge.

But the atmosphere now was so tranquil, so… warm.

The oldest brother was the first one to notice all that, and, despite feeling a little suspicious about it, he was glad to see that his family was able to enjoy a peaceful moment together.

He felt so at ease that he dared to let out a deep breath, gently placing his head on his girlfriend’s head.

Violet’s eyes widened in surprise at the gesture, but now she started to feel this peace as well.

Smiling, she thought that maybe, it was the act of spreading Christmas love for the last two weeks that gave everyone a bit of calm. She couldn’t resist taking a deep breath as well.

Truly, this is what life should be like, she thought, her eyes flattering shut as well.

They didn’t stay shut for long.

At some point, it seemed like footsteps were approaching. A pair of heavy, but excitedly approaching footsteps.

Some heads perked up when the lounge’s swung open.

“Ah, there you are!”

“Lord Diavolo?” Satan was the first one to notice the prince’s presence.

The prince was smiling widely. “It’s so quiet in here, I thought you guys went out to town!”

Another knock on the door, and Barbatos asked to be permitted inside as well. Weirdly enough, he had the rest of the exchange student squad with him as well.

They were all dressed in rather thick winter clothes.

“What are… All of you doing here…?” Lucifer asked, very well knowing that the moment of peace was now officially over.

The Clover-Beel-Belphie cluster (now awake again) made room for Diavolo to sit down, but the demon prince shook his head.

“There is no time to sit down” he said.

“… Why?” Belphie asked in suspicion.

And Diavolo seemed truly shook. “Well… It’s not Christmas yet!” he called out in disbelief. “There is no time to lay back!”

“Oh no…” You could hear Lucifer sigh.

“Lord Diavolo is scheming something again”, Mammon grinned.

“Diavolo, I believe we finished the secret Santa project two days ago”, Lucifer began.

“Yes, and I’d say it was a total success”, Diavolo agreed. “but there’s still a week left until Christmas Eve!”

“… But we have nothing left to do”, Levi mumbled. “The presents are all given out.”

“I know.” Diavolo nodded calmly.

The demon brothers gave a confused look. Knowing his friend all too well, Lucifer rubbed his temples in distress.

“So… You want to have other Christmas festivities until the very day of Christmas Eve, yes?”

“Yes.”

“So, why did we hurry with giving out Christmas presents, then?”

“Yeah” Violet nodded in agreement. “I was wondering why we giving out the presents so early.”

And Diavolo’s smirk was telling it all.

“… You planned all this” Satan pointed out. “You had several projects planned from the beginning, that is why we were giving out presents despite not being anywhere near Christmas Eve yet.”

Diavolo let out a sly chuckle.

“Oh, Satan, do you think I would do that? Rush all of you through two weeks of a present-giving event, so you have to desperately try and finish your presents in time, only to come by two weeks later and surprise you by saying ‘but there’s more’?”

And the whole room responded:

“Yes.”

“Well, well… Maybe I planned it right from the start… Told you that 'this way, we’d have a couple more days in case one present wouldn’t be done in time’, and 'i know you’re impatient so let’s start early’… But let’s not spill the details here.”

He did a dramatic pause.

“Because now, it’s time for our next Christmas adventure!”

Before anyone could word their protest in any way, Diavolo clasped his hands together, opening a portal in the middle of the room.

“All of you, dress up warm!

We’re going to the human world!”

—————-

Everyone got dressed and ready, hurrying because oh boy, Diavolo seemed excited to get going.

He announced that they would be visiting a christmas market, the biggest there was in the human world.

“We’re heading to a city called Vienna” Barbatos explained. “It’s the capital of Austria, so our german girl’s should understand the denizens’ language. This will make it easy for all of us to communicate.”

They also decided it would be best to split into groups of at least two people.

“We learned in school to always stay in groups of three though” Clover pouted jokingly.

“We’re not in school anymore, Clover”, her friend Violet laughed. “We don’t need such rules.”

“Yeah” the first huffed. “Now we’re together with demons that, most of the time, seem to share one single brain cell. Surely there’s nothing that could go wrong…”

Violet’s face twitched in rising concern.

“And we’re going to let them loose on a crowded market in the middle of the human world” Clover added, however, also feeling more uneasy by the second.

They exchanged a glance.

“Oh boy… We’re in for a ride…”

————

They passed an Anidemon store, and Mammon looked over all the figurines they had with a troubled expression. And because he did that for quite a long time, Lucifer started giving him the ‘what are you doing’ look.

Blushing an angry blush, Mammon turned away from the shop’s window. “I-I’m trying to find out why Levi likes those things” he tsundered. “But honestly, collecting stupid figures or pillows or plushies is weird…!”

“Ah, yes…” Lucifer mumbled in fake agreement. “It makes much more sense to collect something like wristwatches, after all…”

Mammon skillfully ignored that sassy comment as he was back at inspecting the store.

“… I want a gift card of that store” he finally said. “For if Levi’s ever getting on my nerves again, then I can annoy him back. Maybe rip the card right in front of his eyes, hehe.”

“Whatever makes you happy…”

————-

Another few hours later, they had visited the technology store, buying a laptop, visited a florist and came back with a bonsai tree, only to head to the next bookstore to pick up the new book that was brought in that morning.

“You have quite the interesting taste” Lucifer hummed when Mammon inspected this book he had never heard of.

“Well, what do you know about me?!” Mammon hissed. “I buy whatever I desire. Call it quits if you’re not okay with that.”

Lucifer crossed his arms. “Don’t offend me”, he scolded. “It would greatly damage my image if I don’t pull through with what I promised.”

Again, this weird feeling in Mammon’s stomach. That should fuel his desire to buy…

But it did the opposite.

Honestly, Mammon felt like going home, but then they passed a little shop selling self-grown coffee beans.

Mammon’s gaze had only shortly hovered over it, and he tried covering his reaction desperately.

“Hm… Lucifer, give me some cash” he demanded.

Locking eyes with him for a moment, Lucifer remained completely calm. “Here you go.”

So Mammon looked around.

“You see that toy store over there? Go find the item that I could tease that chihuahua Luke with the best. I’ll meet you there in a minute.”

Mammon turned around, not seeing how Lucifer was smiling.

And very, very happy, Lucifer went to the toy store…

————-

A wooden chihuahua toy in their pockets now as well, the brothers decided to search a less crowded place to take a seat.

“My feet need a break!” Mammon whined, plonking down on a park bench. Sitting down like a normal person, Lucifer took a seat next to him.

“It is already quite late” he stated. “If you plan on buying some more, we shouldn’t be resting for too long.”

“Tsk” Mammon seemed sceptical again. “ Can ya really finance all that?? How much money is on your bank account, anyway?!”

“That is none of your business.”

Minutes passed, both demons took a deep breather.

“You know” Mammon started. “I’m beat. I think we might as well head hom-”

Suddenly, his leg was touched by a rather small hand.

Shrieking away, the avatar of Greed looked at the old merchant from earlier that day.

“You again” Lucifer huffed in displease. “Did I not tell you to not bother me again?”

But the old weirdo hissed back. “Yes, however I am not talking to you, but to this smart-looking demon right here.”

“… Me?” Even Mammon asked in surprise (however his ego was visibly pleased by that).

“Yes, young fellow” he old man croaked. “I’m selling potions. Would you want any? I have strength potions, love potions, truth serums, limb enlarging substances…”

Mammon was about to shoo him away, but then, an idea struck him.

“I’ll take the truth serum” he said, giving Lucifer a look to buy it. Sighing deeply, Lucifer obliged.

“And what are you planning on doing with that, Mammon?”

“You drink it” he told his brother.

“… Excuse me?”

It took some more convincing, but in the end, Lucifer actually chugged down that weird blue liquid.

“The serum also forces one to answer questions. It should show immediate effects-” the old man started to explain explain.

“Yeah yeah”, Mammon mumbled, pushing the old creep away from him. “Go away dude, we won’t buy any more.”

All alone now, this was Mammon’s chance. His chance to find out why Lucifer was so nice to him today. What he was scheming, because there HAD to be something…

“Are you in love?” Mammon asked.

“Yes” Lucifer answered. “Didn’t you already know that?”

“Control question” Mammon shrugged. “Okay, next one… What is your credit card number?”

“Hngh” Lucifer struggled, but the words were bubbling up his throat already.

So, as to not actually give Mammon information like that, he did a little, maybe very rough step on his brother’s foot to distract him.

“OUCH!!”

————-

After a couple more tests, it was time for the real deal.

“So, Lucifer… Why are you being so nice to me today?”

Lucifer raised a questioning eyebrow. “This is your secret Santa gift.”

“Yes, but… You could’ve just gotten me one thing. Why go this ham? It isn’t like you.”

The oldest let out a laughing breath.

“Truly… If not for an occasion like this, I wouldn’t have go this far to please you.”

“So… Is there a catch?” Mammon asked. “Will you sell everything I bought tomorrow?”

“No, of course not.”

“But…” Mammon grew irritated. “Why are you being so nice, then?!”

“You already asked that.”

“Yes, because I don’t get it! Y'all are calling me scum any other day, so what, do you feel obliged to be nice to me because it’s Christmas season?”

“No.”

Mammon’s eyes widened. “Then… Why…? What… What do you actually think of me, Lucifer?”

To answer that question, it seemed like it took Lucifer a moment to respond.

“I cherish you” he finally said.

“… Wha…?”

“You can be a pain to handle, but that does not change that you are my family” the eldest brother continued. “And I know that you care about our family as well. About us, our human friends, who kind of joined our family now. You took care of them since day one… Because I knew I could trust you with that.”

Mammon was completely puzzled. If not for the serum, he would have laughed at the great lies his brother was telling by now.

“… You don’t trust me” Mammon hissed. “As if you would.”

“It is true, though. I do have high respect for you, Mammon. Regarding holding in emotions such as rage, you possess an amount of self control that even I cannot measure myself with. Your heart is kind, even if you’d never admit it…” Lucifer turned to look him in the eyes. “And I’m very proud to call you my brother.”

At loss for words, Mammon felt his eyes watering up, so he looked off to the side quickly.

“Why… Why do you keep calling me an idiot then…?”

Lucifer let out a chuckle.

“Well, you are one.” He made a pause. “But I learned that this is part of your personality. Maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on you, but I am only trying to help shaping you into an adult man who can live the best version of himself.”

Hot tears were rolling down Mammon’s cheeks.

“Y-you’re talking nonsense…”

“Maybe I am…”

Lucifer stood up.

“But I know that if I need it, I can count on my scum of a brother.”

Sniffling, Mammon was overwhelmed, not responding to his words.

Lucifer led him be, knowing that with this, his Christmas present was complete.

————–

Finally able to collect himself, Mammon wiped away the tears he had been quietly letting out.

Standing up as well, he cleared his throat awkwardly.

“Hey, uhm, Lucifer…”, He began.

He wanted to say thank you. Say 'I appreciate you, too’.

But the words seemed so heavy in his throat, he was not used to saying things like that.

When he met Lucifer’s gaze, however, he saw that he didn’t need to say anything.

A soft smile on his lips, Lucifer’s expression showed that he knew exactly what was going on inside of his brother.

“How about we head home?” Lucifer asked.

Mammon gave a nod.

“Yeah, sounds good…”

A moment later, he spoke up again, though “Oh, another thing… I’ve got these things that I wanted to tease my brothers with… Well, uhm, however… I thought that, if they stop annoying me until Christmas, maybe I could give it to them… I don’t really need that crap anyways, so…”

Lucifer smiled.

“We’ll need a spot to hide the presents, then.”

Y-yeah…“, Mammon mumbled in a soft blush.

"Then that’s all the more reason to head home.”

And as Lucifer already started to march away, Mammon’s lips moved on their own.

“Lucifer?”

“Yes, Mammon?”

“… Merry Christmas.”

“Merry Christmas, my brother.”

Bonus content:

A little before Mammon called for Lucifer to pay at Majolish…

The old man was approaching Lucifer after the demon had waved him over.

“Are you the potion selling hermit?”

“They do call me that, yes…”

“I have a favour to ask.”

And for whatever reason,

Be it that Lucifer’s pride wouldn’t allow him to speak his honest feelings towards Mammon,

Or because he thought that otherwise, Mammon wouldn’t believe in his words…

But Lucifer asked the following:

“Follow me and my brother until we’re left alone. Come and try selling him your potions. I am certain he will buy the truth serum of yours…”
