7-year-old holds prom for his babysitter after hers was canceled due to COVID-19

Rachel picks up Curtis from school, takes him to the playground, piano lessons and helps with his homework.

“She has become apart of our family … he absolutely adores her,” Curtis’ mom, Elissa Rogers, told “GMA.” “She’s a just great person with good heart so it’s been a blessing to have her helping us out with Curtis.”

When the pandemic hit, all senior events came to a halt for Rachel and her classmates. For safety measures, she stopped babysitting Curtis for two months.

Rogers explained the situation to her son and told him Rachel couldn’t have a prom.

“His response was, ‘We can throw a mini prom’ and it grew from there.”

100-year-old woman dubbed ‘boomerang’ overcomes coronavirus

A tough-as-nails 100-year-old woman dubbed a “boomerang” has more lives than a cat.

Rose Heely, who survived two heart attacks and conquered scarlet fever, diphtheria and whooping cough, among other medical crises, has now given the heave-ho to the coronavirus, South West News Service reports.

“She is delighted to be back home. She’s our little boomerang — she never fails to come back with a vengeance,” the British centenarian’s granddaughter Tracey Appleyard, 49, told the news outlet.

Ohio mail carrier delivers supplies to elderly people on his route

Postal worker Kyle West is delivering more than mail these days.

West, also known as “Mailman Kyle,” has been dropping off essential items like milk and toilet paper to elderly people on his mail route.

West said a lot of the people along his route are elderly, which makes them more at risk for serious illness if they contract COVID-19.

“My favorite guy came out and asked me if I could please get him toilet paper. From then I realized that some people just can’t do it themselves,” West said.

So West started sending the people on his route a different kind of letter. The letter says people who are at risk and need help getting essential items should let him know and he will do what he can to help. He signed it “Mailman Kyle” and left his phone number.

‘Aaron goes wherever we go’: Friends carry man in wheelchair to view waterfall

“At first, the guys just took turns using brute force and tried to push my chair up that mountain,” recounted Friesen. “It quickly became very evident that this wasn’t going to work, especially now that my wheelchair was hobbling on three tires. We were going to have to do this another way.”

After struggling to push his wheelchair up the trail, Willy Peters came up with the idea to stick logs underneath the wheelchair and carry Aaron.

“We just wanted to see the waterfall, and Aaron goes wherever we go,” said Peters.

Marty’s Place is the dream retirement center for senior dogs living out their golden years

Marty’s Place is the dream retirement center for senior dogs living out their golden years.

The non-profit, based in Upper Freehold Township, New Jersey, combines home-like aspects to accommodate the four-legged residents which range from 7 years of age or older.

“The chances of an older dog being adopted and leaving a shelter is not as great as for a puppy so we decided we wanted to help senior dogs,” said Doreen Jakubcak, Founder of Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary.

At Marty’s, each dog is given ample living space, human and canine companionship, consistent medical and dental care, as well as access to physically and mentally stimulating activities suited to their age and abilities.

New Jersey teens create landscaping business to raise money for charity

MORRISTOWN, New Jersey – 14-year-old Matthew Sullivan had three goals in mind during the COVID-19 pandemic: stay busy, make money, and help others.

In his effort to put his skills to use, Sullivan started his own lawn care business, Leaf-it to-Us, with the help of his friends Christian VanderGroef, CJ Piccola, and Eric Ottaiano.

“You turn on the news and you see all these negative things, so we just wanted to do something positive, and we decided to go local,” said Sullivan.
