I’ve actually been working on #cosplay again, which is weird for me. I’m trying to finally finish #Severa for #AnimeNorth, which means finishing off the armour someone else started. New raincoat design! We added canonical peacock feathers, and a few other details.
And if we talk about the situation in the world and in my workshop, so the month the work was almost paralyzed, but now I can finally return to the workshop tomorrow. There are problems with delivery, most of the sending sent in February and March has not yet reached its addressees, and I think this is due to the restriction of air traffic between the countries. This is painful, but unfortunately during the pandemic, I will have to put up with what I have and continue to do my job, even if the packages get stuck in time.

DAKI MAKEUP TEST
I got inspired after the livestream last night and took these photos at 1am in front of my closet, lol! It was so much fun putting all the Daki elements together and I’m now more excited for the full cosplay photoshoot than ever!!!
A huge thank you to @sayakatcosplay and @plexicosplay for letting me use this gorgeous wig and hair accessories that they created for their tutorial videos!!

I also want to shout-out @kinpatsucosplay for designing the face tattoos! They are available as a digital download on her website! I used tattoo paper to print them out and they look so nice!
My demonic contact lenses are from @uniqso! I replaced most of my cosplay lens collection with #uniqso lenses and couldn’t be happier!
Since this was a makeup test, I didn’t draw the demon veins and mostly focused on the eye and lip makeup. Main take away: Much angrier eyebrows next time lol!
I have also decided that I won’t do undead body paint for Daki because it would require so much coverage/time and the process would dampen the fun aspect of this cosplay for me.
Now I will push to finish the costume in the next week and do a photoshoot this month! Super pumped to bring it all together finally!

Progress report! My current cosplay project is Daki from Demon Slayer!
As an Upper Moon demon disguised as an Oiran in the Entertainment District, her outfit would have been made with opulent high quality fabrics. Thankfully, my fabric line is coming out with a gorgeous pink and yellow brocade which are perfect for this costume! I created the design on her obi and sashes using the fabric on fabric appliqué method and Heat-N-Bond. In fact, all the fabrics used in this costume except for the lace overlay are part of my @cosplayfabrics collection which is available in @joann_stores!
For personal comfort, I’m making this costume a tad more modest which mostly consists of the panty not being so low-slung on the hips, the top having a bit more coverage and the obi being more structured like a garment.
I had the foresight to order a pair of Oiran geta shoes months ago and they are hella cool but absolutely terrifying to walk in. Oirans always have attendants to lean on during parades so I will only use these shoes for a studio photoshoot. Don’t want to break an ankle or anything
Most of the costume is finished as of now, but I have to begin the arduous task of making a wire frame and back harness for the sashes so they can suspend around me.
If all goes well, I can do a photoshoot as Daki in the next couple of weeks!

I’m currently making Belle’s red flower dress from the Mamoru Hosoda anime…. bought materials less than 24 hours after I watched it ♀️
I knew it was going to be a pretty film but I was really affected by the thoughtful story and characters! It is his best film for me personally.
The decision to cosplay Belle is entirely predictable given my history of cosplaying idol singers, especially ones from the Macross series. Sharon Apple, another virtual singer who moves the world with her songs, was one of my first cosplays ever. I have always had a soft spot for dramatic anime where music played a central role so I was 100% invested in Belle 2 minutes in. Without a doubt, Hosoda was inspired by Macross Plus, so this cosplay is my own little homage to Sharon Apple and the power of music.
When it came to choosing the outfit, there was no doubt. The flower dress completely personifies how “Belle” the avatar is perceived within the virtual world of U, and I am very weak to red costumes in general. I opted for a deep red home decor grade sateen and will use some darker taffetas to create a bit of color interest in the petal dress. And I ordered a myriad of flowers which I will airbrush, manipulate and arrange into that bursting bouquet.
I love that cosplay can STILL inspire me to throw myself into a project with reckless abandon. I’ll be working on Belle all weekend so check my stories for progress updates! And go see the movie this week before it leaves theaters!

➕1️⃣ to my queen cosplay collection!
Bethlehem from @alchemystars_en is my latest cosplay and possibly the 9th or 10th queen I have dressed up as
Swipe for some progress pics on how I made this costume, especially the top skirt part! The trick to getting the shape was yo use a heavy fabric on the outer layer and a very very light lining, then iron the heck out of it!
Most of the adornments are trims from my @cosplayfabrics line, available in @joann_stores! Yes, even the blue gems are cut up from a trim!
Another fun fact is that I repurposed my retired Emma Frost costume for parts of this cosplay, such as the feathers on my arms, the bodice and the arm warmers! It saved me a ton of time and I was able to reuse an old costume so win win!
Have you reused costumes to make new ones before? It’a so satisfying, right?

Day 30 - “A cosplay you plan to finish someday (I swear!)” - These are all projects in various states of completion that I’m currently working on or need to finish up. I can’t believe I completed this challenge!! It was really fun looking back at all my costumes and talking about them a bit. Sometimes it feels like you’re not growing or getting better at something so looking back definitely helped me to see all the progress I’ve made in my cosplay skills! Big shoutout tot he hubby for being my biggest supporter and motivator with tough love haha. Also this challenge was a huge reminder that my main thing I need to work on was and always will be time management lol. I really need to finish all these before I start anything else so let’s hope I can do that lol. Thank you @sheprop for a fun challenge!!
