Today’s prompt is “Ooh La La! (Not necessarily risqué, but something that made you feel confident!)”. I don’t talk about my body/weight issues online cause thankfully I’ve always been pretty confident in my body and most importantly happy with myself. But, a couple of years ago I was so depressed (hostile work environment) that I gained the most weight I ever had in my life. I hated my body, not because I weighed more, but because I knew that I was letting myself slip and was eating my feelings instead of trying to improve things. I walked in the Geek Fashion Show at Silicon Valley Comic Con, and even though I had a lot of fun, I hate all the photos of myself. I didn’t feel confident and I can just feel my sadness through them. I also wore Spider Woman at the con, a skintight bodysuit. I don’t like a lot of the photos, and I wore tight spanx, tried to suck in my tummy, etc. There are a few photos that I like thankfully where I felt confident, and I had a lot of fun posing with my spidey pals. Today I actually weigh the same or even more than I did in these pics, but I feel 1000% happier and more confident. One of these days I want to put on this suit and retake photos! Idk why I rambled about this, but basically don’t force yourself to cosplay/be in the spotlight if you don’t feel confident, and your mental health and happiness comes first!! If you feel happy inside it will radiate to the outside!!

Day 26- something you plan to redo someday. I’d rather focus on new costumes than just redoing old ones, but whenever I look back I feel like I want to redo old costumes with the skill and knowledge I have now…. like I love my White Tiger costume but there’s a lot I’d do differently now! I’d want to use a shaded muscle base body suit instead of plain white, so i’d probably just get it dye subbed with the stripes on. I’d want to make lenses for the eyes and add lights, and use a face shell. Also my ponytail could use way more volume lol

9/25- Today is favorite accessory, and even though they’re so small and I didn’t have them out the entire time, I love my capsules I made!! In the Dragon Ball universe, Bulma’s dad, Dr. Briefs, is the founder of Capsule Corp. and he invented these capsules that hold pretty much anything! They can shrink and hold even cars, houses, motorcycles, etc.! I used mighty beanz as the base, added model magic for the little button/lid, painted them, printed out the label, and used modpodge to glue it on and seal the entire thing!

Day 24 - Favorite wig I’ve done. I love my Princess Jasmine wig!! I learned sooo much from this wig, but looking back there is a LOT I would do differently. While it looks great, it came out super heavy due to the cotton batting and tons of hot glue I used If I redid it, to get the shape I would probably use a combo of styrofoam, teasing, and tacky glue instead. My friend @phavorianne wore the wig for a Disney Princess swimsuit group, and @yayahan even complemented me on it during fanime one year . I made both my Jasmine costume and @lostsymbiote

Favorite makeup I’ve done - 9/23 . I have several makeups that I loveeee, so I’ll choose this day that I was She-Hulk at Wizard World Sac. I love how this makeup turned out, and while my face looks a bit different from the body suit in photos, it matched super well in real life and lasted alllll day (oh and I was starfire the day before so I had orange patches all under my bodysuit from the pax LOL)

Day 21 - Favorite photo of a cosplay. This photoshoot I did as Panty taken by my friend Chris is definitely my fave. @raierae was there, too, as Stocking, and to be honest I drank way too much spiked baja blast before and during this photoshoot LOL. But the photos turned out amazing! In my mind I think I was trying to channel every episode of America’s Next Top Model at once lolol. The dress was actually made by @novembercosplay and I bought the costume off of her. Oh, and pics from this shoot were printed in icosplay magazine!

Oops I missed yesterday! Day 20 was cosplay I learned the most from, and I don’t think there is 1 specific costume I learned the MOST from, but there’s several I learned a LOT from! I picked Ivrogne from Star Driver because I feel like this was a huge level up for me. I made this over 8 years ago and learned how to make a saran wrap+ductape bodysuit pattern to make the main outfit and learned to use stretchy materials. I learned how to work with polystyrene and heat form it to make the collar and mask based off tutorials online. I got better at making bias tape and sewing it on. I also resin casted my little heart brooch and I did a nice appliqué heart on the back of my vest. It was supposed to be for a huge Star Driver group that never really came to fruition, but I’m glad I still finished up this costume and wore it!

Since cosplay construction is my favorite part of the process, I end up really proud of all my costumes.. even the ones I’m not happy with, I still usually always have parts that I’m proud of. But for today’s “cosplay you’re most proud of”, I’m going with Starfire from The New Teen Titans. This version is my favorite iteration of Star, so I worked really hard to do the costume justice and to accurately bring her to life. This costume has hand sculpted and resin casted pieces, I pattern drafted, worked with tricky material, used unconventional materials, stacked wigs, body painted, etc etc. Also big shout out to @lostsymbiote for the hours and hours of body painting lol. Also glad I have two wonderful Ravens in my life, @raierae and @fayelynncosplay .

For a cosplay I had to redo/restart a part of I’ll go with Super Sailor Pluto. In the first two photos, while it may not look it, almost the entire thing is held together by safety pins lmao. @raierae and I were rushing last minute and I really don’t know how we managed to get the costumes on our bodies haha (she was Super Sailor Saturn). I had to fix up a lot and redo some construction (not to mention actually sewing parts together, lol) so in the bottom two photos it’s actually a functioning garment lol. (Also this costume only came to fruition with the help of @raierae , our big group we were in , a bunch of tutorials, etc, oh and the staff in the bottom photos was borrowed!)

Day 17 of the #shepropchallenge is first time tackling a new material. When I made my Valkyrie costume to go with @lostsymbiote ’s Agent Venom, I used some of his leftover worbla to make my boob armor. It was my first time working with worbla and I was rushing last minute (to no one’s surprise) so it came out looking like doodoo, lol. (Meanwhile J’s Venom armor came out soooo good but then it all melted in a hot car )

Day 13 for the #shepropchallenge is a character I knew nothing about. Anytime I see a character or design I wanna cosplay I always get super obsessed and watch the show/try to play the game (or watch play-throughs)/ look up info on them, etc, but one that I didn’t really get a chance to was Queen, or Makoto Niijima, from Persona 5. @lostsymbiote already had his Joker cosplay from the year prior so right before the con we ordered this outfit off of amazon so we could have a family cosplay, lol! I watched bits of play-throughs and we started the anime but that’s it

Day 12- favorite character I have cosplayed. Hands down Starfire is my favorite! I got into the Teen Titans cartoon thanks to @raierae , and I instantly fell in love with Kori and saw so much of myself in her! Then I got into the comics and The New Teen Titans run by @marvwolfman and George Perez are my favorite and I love collecting all the issues. Starfire is such a strong hero who fights for what she believes in, loves very deeply, and protects those she cares about. I love all versions of her (yes, even Teen Titans Go! Lol). I can’t wait to cosplay more versions of her!

Day 11 on the #shepropchallenge is my own design or take on a character. I chose my Kuzco Disney bound that I wore to @mega64official ’s Gamedays 2016! Gamedays is one of our favorite events to go to- day 1 is a mini con with Mega64 and all our friends, then day 2 everyone goes to Disneyland together! That year the day 2 event just happened to be the same day as Dapper Day! (Blizzcon was also at the same time and place that year, too, lol). Last minute I threw together this Kuzco dapper bound as a way to combine both disneybounding and dressing up for dapper day! Everything I got off amazon, except the little headpiece fascinator I made out of craft foam (and it survived a bunch of rides, haha!)

I’m a day behind! For cosplay on a budget/ closet cosplay I’m just gonna go with everything I wore to fanime 2018- since I was pregnant all of my outfits were just dresses I got off of amazon, lol! I didn’t have much time or energy at the time for making stuff, plus whatever I would’ve made wouldn’t have fit later on anyways lol.
