Gemstones

Danny found himself slowly gathering his senses as his eyes fluttered open, he felt sand under his form and saw feet around him, but what stood out most to him was the intruding feeling in his chest, nearly poking his very core, he could feel another intrusion located closer to his hip.

He groaned and the quiet talking above him came to a halt before one of them crouched down and put out a hand, he grabbed the hand before being pulled to his feet, he collapsed into someones arms, nearly knocking them to the ground.

“Hey, can you stand up by yourself?” Someone asked, he groaned, he probably could, but whatever was brushing against his core was preventing him from keeping enough focus to do so.

“We should probably get him, or her, or them, or maybe even zer, back to the base.” The one who was holding Danny stated before pulling him into a bridal style hold, he could feel the fabric of a jacket against his skin, his clothes must’ve been torn.

“Weird, they have a gem.” He could distantly hear someone state this, but payed no mind, eyes closed, they only opened when he felt a sharp pain shoot across his back as he was dropped onto a couch.

Danny saw four people surrounding him each with unique color palette, one purple, one blue, one seemingly human, one lime green, all of them shared their stares at him. He pulled himself into a sitting position on the couch, wincing and hissing when something pressed against his core, he clutched his chest finding a solid object embedded into the muscle, skin and bone.

“Who are you?” Danny asked, beating the others to the punch.

“We, were some of the crystal gems, I’m Steven Universe, this is Amethyst, Lapis and Peridot, their kind of like rocks, but humanoid as well with emotions and super powers.” Steven explained, pointing to each of the gems as he listed off their names, each giving a weak hi.

“Great, cool, two more questions.” Danny said.

“Ask away.” Steven said in return.

“What is up with me having crystals implanted inside of me, and why do they hurt for me?” Danny asked, some twisted confusion and fear settled onto Stevens face.

“How do they hurt, and where exactly is the other one?” Steven asked, Danny lifted his shirt and pulled the waist of his pants down just enough so they could see the gem implanted in his left hip, only having a dulled glimmer unlike the other gem creatures surrounding him.

“One here and one here.” Danny stated, pointing to each, Peridot stepped closer, Danny edged away as she tried to inspect the gems. “Can you at least tell me what they are?”

“Well of course,” Peridot said boldly. “The one in your chest is Chrysoprase, and the one on your hip is Snowflake Obsidian, although the coloring is off, maybe its Blue Goldstone, one of the two.”

“Well that’s helpful, I highly doubt I even have any powers like you, other than what I already have,” Danny said with a sigh before standing up feeling something dig into his core, he hissed in pain clutching his chest in pain, something starting to form in his hand, he yanked his hand away, a weapon forming in his hand. “What just happened?”

“Your weapon, it’s a green whip, thing.” Peridot said, puzzled at the shape of his weapon and the glow it gave off, palpating slightly.

“It’s made out of ectoplasm based magic is my guess, and its a whip sword.” Danny explained, cracking the weapon having each segment rejoin into a blade that held together tightly with his gems ability.

“Ectoplasm?” the blue one, Lapis asked, Danny tensed, he let that one slip out.

“Ghost powers and stuff, nothing to weird compared to the fact I’m talking to sentient rocks,” Danny blurted out, nothing else forming in his head as a viable response to the question. “I mean, your not exactly ‘rocks’ your crystals, and I’m human, kind of human.”

“Well, given the fact you bear more human appearances your probably half gem half human like me,” Steven explained, pulling up his shirt and pointing to the pink hued diamond embedded in his stomach, it made sense to Danny. “And because you have more than one gem, your clearly a fusion between two gems.”

“A fusion?” Danny asked, reaching for the gem on his hip, something much smaller forming in his hand, he pulled away finding a small knife in his hand, completely solid and with a color palette of blues and blacks.

“When two people with gems come together in a relationship, one of the other crystal gems is a fusion between Ruby and Sapphire,” Steven explained, Danny gave a half hearted nod, barely understanding, but agreeing as Steven most likely knew much better than he did. “And if you have ghost powers as you claim that means one of your halves, the Chrysoprase, is a half ghost half gem, and the other half, the Gold Bluestone, is a half human half gem.”

“So, can they separate again and put me out of commission?” Danny asked, spinning the knife in his hand halfheartedly, his two halves had split before in his world, but he knew it would probably never happen again after refusing and coming back stronger.

“Only if they disagree on something, which you can feel in the back of your mind as they start to fight for control,” Steven explained, the color drained from Dannys face. “At least that’s how Garnet explained the feeling.”

“Let’s hope that nothing causes them to disagree then.” Danny said before returning his weapons.

“Do you have any other questions?” Lapis asked.

“Two actually,” Danny stated. “One being what are your weapons.”

“Peridot doesn’t have a weapon and mine is a pink shield.” Steven explained before lifting his arm, the back of his hand facing outward before he clenched his fist, a pink, rose like shield forming in front of his forearm.

“Hydrokinesis, plain and simple.” Lapis stated before two wings formed out of almost see through water burst forth from her back, the water palpating and trying to stick together.

“And I have a whip.” The purple one, Amethsyt said before pulling a dark purple and black whip from her gem and cracking the weapon a few times.

“Second question being how do I get back home?” Danny asked, everyone but him shared glances.

“We could ask the Diamonds.” Steven offered, Lapis tensed up.

“No way, I’m not heading up there again, still a little bit sore after last time,” Lapis said. “And aren’t you a Diamond?”

“Wait, Diamonds?” Danny asked, cocking his head to the left a bit.

“Kind of like the old leaders of all gem kind, and technically speaking I have the gem of Pink Diamond but none of moms memories,” Steven explained. “So if you want to ask the Diamonds we have to go to one of the furthest reaches the warp pad can take us from here in one trip.”

“Then let’s go, unless it’s powered by electricity or feels like your being electrocuted through the warp.” Danny said, clapping his hands together.

“I honestly don’t remember what it feels like first time, sensation wise, considering its been so long since my first time, so it probably doesn’t,” Steven said before putting out a hand, Danny took his hand before being led to the slab of glimmering crystal, Amethyst following with Peridot. “Just stand on on the warp pad and I can do the rest to get us there.”

“Ok.” Danny said, voice tense, fists shaking slightly as he stood still, Steven beside him, he noticed and placed a hand on Dannys shoulder, sending the fusion a smile.

“Don’t worry, everything will be fine,” Steven said, Danny nodded before taking a few deep breathes. “Hey Lapis! Last chance!”

“I’m good!” Lapis shouted back before kicking back on the couch.

“Whenever your ready just say the word.” Steven said, Danny nodded, Steven set them off, a column of light shooting down to grab them, they started to dissipate.

Danny felt jolts of energy run across his form, he started to hyperventilate, he reached to clutch his head, vision blurring slightly.

He felt a splitting feeling.

He screamed as he was torn apart at the scene, light engulfing his form, Steven acted first trying to make sure he didn’t fall out of the teleport.

It was only a matter of seconds before two other half gems came into being, one of them having a panic attack the other trying to reach his side.

“Calm down, please calm down.” The half human muttered, trying his hardest to calm down the shaking half ghost.

“It feels just like the accident.” The half ghost said, voice shaking and tense.

“Hey, hey, we can fuse again, you can be safe again when we land,” The half human said, running his hand through the half ghosts hair. “I need you to breath for me though.”

“Ok, breath, breath.” The half ghost muttered under his breath before calming down as they landed, Steven, Amethyst and Peridot moved in front of the two to hide them from the Diamonds.

“Steven, you came to visit.” Blue called out, a smile gracing her face, Steven chuckled nervously.

“Blue, do you know where the other Diamonds are?” Steven asked, continuing his near futile attempts of hiding the Chrysoprase and Blue Goldstone behind him, he would have to get their 'human’ names.

“Yellow and White have left to have a day by themselves, I think their just conquering in one of the darkest corners of the universe,” Blue explained as she stood up, steps light as possible before she crouched down next to the five. “What brings you here?”

“We have a visitor from a different dimension, we assume, and they have gems, and they were a fusion, but they unfused,” Steven said before moving out of Blues view, revealing the two gems who ended up being scooped into Blues hand, each in a different hand, the ghostly ones panic got worse. “Please be gentle with them, the Chrysoprase is still having a panic attack.”

“I will,” Blue said, inspecting the two, they reached for each other despite the separation and fall below. “They’re both half gems I see, one half ghost one half human.”

“I would highly suggest letting them fuse,” Peridot shouted up. “Did you really forgot how unstable Chrysoprases can be when undergoing extreme emotional imbalances?!”

“I did not forget, it’s just been ages since I saw a half ghost gem, they were in fact some of the first half gems, he’s special.” Blue said, bringing her hands closer, the Blue Goldstone rushing to the Chrysoprase pulling the half gem into a tight hug, a weak light engulfing them both, Chrysoprase not stable enough to fuse back safely.

“Do you know if we can send them home?” Steven asked, leaping up, reaching Blues other hand with ease.

“Well of course we can, but we should send them back fused shouldn’t we?” Blue asked, Steven rubbed the back of his neck.

“Yeah, probably, but they can’t fuse when their emotions are out of balance!” Steven said, gesturing to the two half gems that tried desperately to fuse back, ending up even further apart each time they failed.

“Just give them time Steven,” Blue said, placing all three back down. “I’m sure they’ll fuse back soon enough.”

When I say I adore this. I mean it. Like so much. That interaction with human gem and ghost gem and human gem trying to comfort him, so in character for Steven universe characters but I adore it in Danny phantom context!!! This was so so happy feely to read.
