The month: October. The day: 10. That means we have once again hit Misumi Nagisa’s birthday! At just 14-15 years old in the main series, and for all eternity unless they ever do a “grown up precure” series for like, the 20th anniversary or something, Nagisa is the embodiment of the original spirit of the Pretty Cure series: an ordinary girl. She lives with her parents and little brother, with whom she squabbles but she still loves them all. Her great loves in life are lacrosse, food, and hanging out with her friends, especially her partner in saving the world, Honoka. She just wants to live life to the fullest but she will not tolerate anyone making trouble for innocent people. When she transforms into Cure Black she is an unstoppable force, especially when partnered up with Honoka, but if they do get separated she’ll move Heaven and Earth to reunite. (as seen in FWPC 42) Because she’s part of the original duo, she holds an exalted place in the extended Precure pantheon, which at the time of this writing is up to 69 main Cures, and her voice actress Honna Yoko is always happy to reprise her most iconic role. So you can be sure that Nagisa will continue showing up in stuff for many years to come. Happy birthday to her!

I’ve been watching Precure for the first time. It’s funny from jumping from the newer ones to see that Cure Black and Cure White fight with their fist instead of the power of magic and love.
