It’s with happy hearts that Frame & Follie announces that after three beautiful years, we’ve decided to close up our boutique design shop. We’re grateful for all that we’ve learned, both from working with each other and with our wonderful clients. A big thank you goes out to all of our clients, colleagues and friends! We truly appreciate all of your support! Please do not hesitate to contact us regarding any past or future design work. We’ll still be only an email or a phone call away!
Another big thank goes out to each other. Working so closely together has been an incredible experience, allowing us to grow and discover our own individual passions. Although we’re saying farewell to the business, we’re not saying goodbye to design (or to each other!). It’s with great memories that we’re ready start on our own paths and say hello to new adventures!

Custom portraits are so much fun for us because we get the chance to really get to know our clients (with their families and friends, pets, boyfriends and girlfriends, etc…) through the photos they send us before telling the story of who they are through various types of illustration!

While each portrait holds a place in our Frame & Follie hearts, this one is special in that it was our very first custom illustration sold via Etsy…to a complete stranger! It took a few tries to get the look just right, but it pushed us toward another style of drawing which we’re excited to offer clients in the future!

Even with a tight deadline, when Catherine contacted us about creating a custom holiday card
for her and her family, we jumped at the opportunity. And when she told us what she had in mind,
we were even more excited! It was as though she’d been peaking at our own holiday sketches!

With a new (but naughty!) puppy, Catherine wanted something candid and playful. She asked us to illustrate them as though they were posing for a photo gone wrong! We immediately loved the idea, and we loved when their hand-drawn portrait, surrounded by a wall of holly, suddenly took on a festive storybook feel! Very Merry Christmas to The Donoghues!

While we usually end our custom portraits in Photoshop, this one of mom, baby & grandma was
our very first solely hand-drawn and hand-coloured family portrait! It was…stressful not to have
access to that handy undo button, but it was a lot of fun playing different with pens and markers!

And how adorable is that mini ornament frame! Our wonderful client commissioned the portrait
as a Christmas gift for her mom, and we hope they both love it!

Two of the nicest (and funniest!) people we know eloped last week in beautiful Tofino, BC!
