Here comes a highly requested gentleman…It’s Darius in the MLP AU, aka Sangria the Sphinx! But don’t expect him to talk in riddles…riddles are so last season
What other Sphinxes waste on thinking up riddles, Sangria uses to concoct elaborate schemes…with the help of his steadfast partner, Claw Enforcement the miniature Manticore (Eberwolf). No one really knows the nature of their relationship, but no one’s brave enough to ask.
I found for a while that it was odd how Darius’ abomination magic allowed him to teleport people in another location. If it was something like turning actual people into abomination goo to allow extra-fast movement, sure, but the way it looked in Eda’s Requiem was pretty much some kind of goo portal.
Abomination magic is the creation and control of some goo humanoid, so it makes sense it is able to create objects or walls, and even turn yourself into goo, but how does teleport works into it?
However. Darius’s mentor was the former Golden Guard. And what is Hunter’s speciality? Teleportation and instant movement. What are the chances that his predecessor had a similar speciality, and helped Darius come up with his own version within the bound of his coven?
(Funnily enough, when you look at who else used some kind of teleportation abilities in the show, we have Belos, but also Eda and Lilith doing the ‘instantly moving behind your enemy in battle’ bit. Not saying this is a Clawthorne thing, but also… not saying that.)

I HAD TO WRITE THIS AFTER THISPOST I MADE! I just needed more comforting Hunter Darius fics— BUT ALSO WITH SOME HCS OF HOW HIS RELATIONSHIP WAS WITH HIS MENTOR!
Belos encourages it, of course, but the way Zev did it was…dangerous, he felt. Zev was passionate about this world, about the Titan, in ways that Belos had never even really been able to completely fake. He really, really believed in the stuff Belos said - that the Titan watched over them, that it cared for them, but he had an irritating tendency to extend that to other things.
Plantmorepalistromwood, Zeventien would say, the ecosystem needs it, we are the Titan’s gravekeepers and we need to be kind to our parent’s final resting place.
As if Belos had ever cared about the final ecological health of this den of devilry and sin. He resolved to make the next Golden Guard - if there was one, he added unconvincingly - less loyal to the Titan and more loyal to him specifically. He would get it right in the end.
(You weave abominations beautifully, Zeventien told Darius. It’s a sacred art, you know. You do your teachers proud.)
(If there is one thing that Darius regrets - and there is many - it is that in death Zeventien stands frozen in stone in Belos’s hall, instead of returned to the earth he so loved, that he was willing to die for.)

Yes PLEASE. I want to know everything about him. He has this fabulous, seemingly bulletproof persona. He’s smooth and self-assured with a sardonic bite, he’s unapologetically a peacock but turns himself into an actual monster on command, he cares about his “me time”, he can hold a grudge for decades, one of his closest friends is a demon cat-monkey, he literally wrote the book on abomination magic, he’s got abilities we’ve never seen in anyone else, and oh yeah, he’s living a double life under a tyrant’s nose alongside the aforementioned cat-monkey and a presumably new-minted accomplice who almost murdered him six weeks ago.
This man is incredible.
Him aiding Hunter is a bonus. I hope it gets him more screen time. I mean, it already has, so, brilliant.
Can’t believe Darius and Hunter happily reunited on the finale and went for a walk to catch up on things!!!! He’s telling him about Flapjack!!!
I could look at this for hours. They’re so content and happy! Darius’ outfit is- ah!- so chic. Casual luxe. Total eye candy on him. It suits him so well.
Can we talk about how Raine wanted to help Eda, but Darius held them back, but the moment Darius hears Hunter is stuck in the mindscape, he’s ready to bust a door down?
