I really like the writing of this– one of the reasons I’d been assuming Darius was spurred to rebellion by seeing what happened to Raine was that I was worried that if he already had a rebellion running, it would kind of narratively undercut Raine’s bravery and importance? But having him specify that he recognized Raine would “know more” makes them vital. I appreciate it.
Also, “I thought I was the only one” implies that Eber wasn’t on his side during the battle and only came around after, which is fun.
oh my god…. all of hunter’s predecessors inevitably betrayed belos…. the previous golden guard was darius’ mentor….. darius is actively working against the emperor….
darius seeing hunter be the perfect obedient lapdog for the emperor while wearing the golden guard symbol…. suddenly it makes a LOT more sense why he was so pissed

Don’t get me wrong, Eda is a great mother and parental figure, especially to King and Luz.
But I’d rather see Darius take Hunter in.
I mean, it kind of seems they’re heading in that direction anyway. The previous Golden Guard was Darius’ mentor, so it’d be nice to see Darius mentor Hunter without the threat of Belos.

I love how Steve had one line in season 1 but the fandom just fell in love with him anyway! To see him grow from a background character to now a side character is amazing! I love him so much.
This broke my heart. They love each other so much they don’t wanna lose one another. God I really thought Luz would call Eda mom in these tense scenes. Something like, “please don’t send me away mom!”
All she wanted was a fun summer learning magic. Now she’s getting arrested for what, the second time?
OK I need a young Eda Hexside series now! All four of them went to the same school and from their conversations, Raine and Darius hung out too in some way.
I fucking lost it at this scene. Darius getting angry, Raine building up a dramatic reveal and Luz with her hoodie! Screw it, we’re sticking with the CATTs!
FINALLY!! We’ve waited so long for this and next week Luz finally gets her Palisman! I’m going to love whatever it is, whether it’s a blue jay, bat, snake, a chimera of all, or something else entirely. Another fantastic episode, Dana and her crew keep knocking it out of the park. Two episodes left of season 2 and I can tell they are gonna destroy us!

I also let myself be convinced Lumity wouldn’t become canon during “Knock, Knock, Knockin’ on Hooty’s Door” by someone even though I knew “Eclipse Lake” wouldn’t make sense without it being canon.
So yeah, I’m trusting my gut that we’ll get a confirmation that Alador and Darius are exes next episode.

Okay, so I sadly was not on the money with this particular theory. It would be the time I decide to trust my gut wouldn’t it I do still have faith that it will come to fruition next season though.

So I planned to make a post on this last week but life - such as quitting one of my jobs - got in the way.
Anyway, I mentioned this in my thoughts regarding the episode “Them’s the Breaks, Kid” but I feel like this deserves it own post. So my theory is that I strongly suspect before Alador got together with Odalia, that he was in a relationship with Darius. This train of thought originally got going when I saw this clip of them.
Like you have Alador and Darius sat together, laughing and having fun. And while Odalia sort of joins in, with how she is stood there not looking like part of the group but being sorta on the outside looking in. It kinda feels like she is inserting herself where she is not wanted.
Odalia and Alador’s marriage doesn’t particularly strike me as a happy one either. Throughout “Escaping Expulsion”, Alador seems to defer to Odalia to a ridiculous extent and only stands up to her when the Blight name is being put at threat by her attempting to go back on her word.
Which brings me to another point, as to why Alador would leave Darius for Odalia in the first place. In “Understanding Willow” it is Alador who initially is portrayed as the more villainous of the two Blight parents. He is the one who lays down the law on what is expected of a Blight to Amity and that they “only associate with the strongest of witchlings”. They lined up friends for Amity they felt were more appropriate, Boscha and Skara and pushed her towards them despite her objections. Maybe Alador’s parents had a similar discussion with him. Maybe it took time for Darius to come into his powers and so Alador’s parents decided he wasn’t a suitable partner for their son to be with and pushed him towards Odalia instead. Someone they feel is worthy of carrying the Blight name.
In “Reaching Out”, when Alador finally notices him and Odalia are forcing things on Amity she doesn’t actually want, he actually does seem to finally take pause and seem to realise what he is doing to his child. This has me wondering if this takes him back to his own childhood and the things his parents may have forced on him which he doesn’t want. I also just gave this scene a rewatch and he mentions how he likes Amity’s new hair colour because it is abomination coloured. So far Amity has been forced by Odalia to dye her hair green, so it matches the hair of Odalia, Edric and Emira. Amity dying her hair abomination coloured would make it more reminiscent of that of Darius. Maybe he is imagining in that moment what his kid could have been like if he had stayed with Darius.
Finally, Darius and Alador have a rivalry. In “Eda’s Requiem”, Darius tells Kikimora to tell “Alador that he’s a hack”. If Alador had broken up with Darius due to his parents, it may explain his coldness towards Alador. Meanwhile Alador may feel resentful of Darius, that after leaving him, he has since grown into his powers and then possibly became Head of the Abomination Coven over him.
And hey, maybe it holds no water but this is my theory and I am standing by it

I seriously am so confident in the fact that Aladarius is or at the very least will be canon. I can just feel it. And hopefully the Blight siblings can get the two loving dads they deserve

“Clouds on the Horizon” Incomplete Thoughts (Spoilers)
I think I’m gonna post my thoughts on “Clouds on the Horizon” next week along with my thoughts on “King’s Tide”. I have some thoughts on today’s episode especially given the Blight showdown we have just witnessed, something I have seen coming for quite sometime. And OMG!!!! Can I just say how happy I am to see Amity just expressly cut Odalia off. Just that, “I am never talking to you again.” And you know something, I actually believe Amity. I am 100% sure Amity will not talk to Odalia again.
Odalia has throughout been shown to be a person who only cares about money and status and she seems to think money and status will fix everything. Like she laughs off Amity’s declaration with, “Oh, you’ll be thanking me when you’re a literal princess, Princess.” Like getting her daughter a title would erase all the evil and crap she has and is about to do.
I do also think it is interesting here that Alador quits. Like I thought he had a stake in the company, but it turns out he is just an employee and Odalia is just like, “I’ve been meaning to find a more competent business partner anyway.” Somehow I think the latter part was effectively Odalia and Alador breaking up, as from what I can tell Odalia and Alador have a pretty loveless marriage. Their relationship does seem to be a business arrangement and Odalia seems to treat her family turning against her with a cavalier attitude. As long as she has her money and power she is happy, and she doesn’t need her family to get that. Meanwhile she seems to be under the delusion her family will come crawling back on broken glass to her when this all over. She puts way too much stock in money and power.
Also I find it interesting that Odalia accuses Amity of being the one to cause Edric and Emira to “act out”. A lot of blame gets thrown on Amity throughout the course of The Owl House, even though Ed and Em have been shown to be the rebellious Blight children, while up until recently Amity was the obedient perfect Blight child. Why is Amity then being blamed for Ed and Em acting out? Why aren’t Ed and Em blamed for corrupting Amity? I mean, I know neither is true. But why does the blame always fall on Amity? I thought I had an idea as to why Amity had more pressure placed on her, but now it is clear it isn’t just pressure and that Odalia is actively placing blame on Amity for faults in her family.
And yes, I acknowledge I am being very Blight focused here but as those who follow my blog will know, I have had a lot of theories regarding the Blights and at present those theories seem to be reaching their fruition. So I do have a lot of focus on this right now.
Interesting how when I finally gave up at writing a thoughts post, thoughts came out In all honesty though, I don’t think I’m done. I mean so far I have just started commenting on the Blight side of this and there is Luz, Hunter, King, Lilith, Raine and Eda who have all played very important roles this episode. Not to mention I have theories about Darius that I feel are going to come in to play extremely soon, theories I have already posted.
So at present, without next week’s episode my thoughts feel incomplete. Oh and before I go, I just have to say that I absolutely adored Amity and Luz’s kiss and I so hope we get to see Luz and Amity go on a date eventually as Luz promised Amity. Obviously that probably won’t happen this Season but maybe in the 3 X 40 min episodes that will be the entirety of Season 3.
So I just gave this episode a rewatch to see if I could get anymore information on Darius. After watching “Hollow Mind” it feels like Darius would have been against Emperor Belos for quite sometime. I mean my theory is that when Emperor Belos killed the last Golden Guard, the person who was Darius’ mentor and the most powerful witch he has ever known, it deeply hurt Darius and turned him against Emperor Belos. This would mean Darius has been against the Emperor since “Separate Tides” at the very least, possibly longer. And as of this episode, it is quite evident Eberwolf is also against the Emperor. This would mean during the episode “Eda’s Requiem”, Darius and Eberwolf were already against Belos.
Now, something I noticed while rewatching this. When Raine Whispers gets announced as the new Head Witch of the Bards Coven, it is Darius and Eberwolf who are leading the ceremony. I don’t think at this time Raine is aware that Darius and Eberwolf are in fact on the same side as them, but I suspect Darius and Eberwolf are aware of Raine being on the same side as them.
Raine tells Eda that they worked their way up the ranks of the Bards Coven, finding likeminded individuals along the way and forming Bards Against the Throne. My theory is, that this did not go unnoticed by Darius and Eberwolf and that they suggested Raine should be the next Head Witch of the Bards Coven with the intent to recruit them in time to their cause.
I then suspect that Darius and Eberwolf volunteered to capture Raine with the intent of recruiting them. Throughout Darius and Eberwolf come off rather aggressive and as if they are true followers of the Emperor but there is the odd slip up, like Eberwolf has to prompt Darius into telling Raine that they will pay for their treachery. But like maybe Darius and Eberwolf were putting on a show for whoever maybe watching. And they would be right to be paranoid, as Kikimora appears as Raine escapes and Darius expressly says, “I told you we didn’t need help.”
As for putting the other 3 BATs in the conformitorium, having to keep up the ruse of being on the Emperor’s side perhaps he did this with the logic of “it is a sacrifice for the greater good.” Which as much as I hate to say it, I cannot argue with his logic. So far in “Hollow Mind”, Darius, Eberwolf and Raine seem to make a brutally efficient team and with their rankings as Head Witches, the 3 of them simply have access to the Emperor and his plans that Raine’s compatriots in the BATs don’t. Plus maybe in time Darius, Eberwolf and Raine can manufacture the necessary circumstances for an escape which won’t incriminate them.
Darius is an intriguing character though and I definitely want to see more of him. Eberwolf also, given we know even less about Eberwolf than we know about Darius.
Okay, I have just watched “O Titan, Where Art Thou”. I don’t really have many thoughts but I did bloody call it didn’t I? Darius and Eberwolf volunteered to capture Raine for the purposes of recruiting them. And the BATs are free from the conformitorium too. I bloody called it!
