ED AND EMIRA NORMAL TEENAGERS REVEAL?? amazing.. I didn’t expect that but i am SO PLEASED. How does this show manage to do things I didn’t even know I wanted !!

edric-put-your-glasses-on:

So hear me out:

Chronic Pain Edric

My wiefe @blooberry-tea & i were talking about this last night per ‘Reaching Out’

While it’s entirely probable that Edric just put on a concealment stone because Amity needed his and Emira’s help right away and he didn’t want to put in the effort of getting ready while he was trying to relax, I am all for the headcanon that to some degree, Eddy has chronic pain.

Getting all prettied up and putting yourself together is EXHAUSTING. Especially for someone who is chronically disabled or has chronic pain. Keep in mind, too, that all the while he was helping Eda, he did VERY little physical activity in doing so. He sat down a lot, and did minor things to help, but they still made him extremely happy to help nonetheless.

This is another REALLY interesting point that my wiefe made. In having a new skill that he hasn’t yet perfected, it’s often that people with chronic pain just can’t work on things as much as they would like, or their new skill set is lacking because of their pain/low spoons. When you’re in a state of mind of pain while wanting so desperately to help, sometimes your skills sets just don’t work out. And he tried, TWICE, which is a very accurate (at least for me, personally) minimum that some disabled people can do. You want to do what you can, and show what you CAN DO, but often times, it fails.

Yet ANOTHER amazing point by my wiefe that i relate to *SSOOOOO* very much. While it’s very apparent that Odalia and Alador are most likely the culprits in making Edric not feel good enough, paired with both Emira and Amity (most likely unknowingly that they’re doing it), chronic pain REALLY plays on your emotions, mental health, and your desire to push through your limitations to prove yourself.

Edric wanted to help Amity SO bad, and in the same breathe with Eda and King. He doesn’t want to mess up, because he feels that he already does that enough. Chronic pain can make you feel like no matter what you do, how hard you try, it holds you back. It holds you back from proving yourself, and showing what you can bring to the table. What your talents are, who and how you can help. Your intellect, and your skills.

Coming from experience as a disabled person, pushing yourself puts way more stress on you that you realize. Because you’re desperate. You don’t want to seem like a complete failure or screw up at every turn. You don’t want people to think you’re lazy or not putting your time and effort into something. Especially when it comes to helping others or wanting to learn new things. So you undermine yourself and say things like “yeah. It’s just __, but probably not any good…” ; Because you’ve been told, taught, or believe that no matter what, you’re never enough. Your limitations are a hinderance, and the desire to push and push and push until you’re so exhausted you can’t figure out what way is up or down.

And if you haven’t come to terms with your pain, disability, or limitations, then you’re going to think of yourself as a lesser person because of them. And sometimes, the people are you do or say the very same thing, which makes you feel more worthless than you already felt before.

THIS, though. THIS; we already know what kind of parents Odalia and Alador are. If Edric is exhibiting symptoms of pain and exhaustion, so long as he’s not vomiting his guts out or running a fever, he’s fine. He can go to school, be a perfect Blight, and carry on through the day. And sadly, too often, this DOES happen.

Whether it’s parents or medical professionals, invalidating your pain or disability makes you believe even more that you’re just fucking up all over the place. That you have to prove yourself worthy, and anything less than that is a failure and cause for low self esteem and terrible thinking of yourself and your value or worth. And believe me, I speak from 30 years of experience in being disabled since birth. It is the most demeaning and damaging thing that can happen, and in the way Edric exhibited his feelings and low self esteem, not only are Odalia and Alador basically ignoring him or telling him that he is constantly screwing around, top having chronic pain with that and it’s an absolute recipe for disaster and a set up for terrible mental health and the way he views himself as a person.

And throughout that entire episode, he was DESPERATE to help. Desperate to prove himself and show people what he’s made of. What he’s capable of. Who he REALLY is, and what he can bring to others in a validating way. Too often, people with chronic pain and/or disabilities feel the desire to fill that gap. To have validation in their feelings and their lives. And if people around them, who should be lifting you up and praising you on the good AND bad days aren’t, then you’re going to search and crave for that attention and need elsewhere. Even if you put yourself down.

Eda was an amazing example of this. She didn’t see Edric as a failure. He had more skills under his layer and facade as a perfect Blight. He had interests, new magic that he was learning, and showing how smart and capable he really is. But he immediately shot himself down, because he’s used to doing that, CONSTANTLY, because of the environment around him and what is EXPECTED of him. This is very common for people with chronic pain/disabilities. You realize that you’re showing what you can do, only to feel like you’re going to get yelled at or told that you’re not doing it/something right.

But Eda saw talent. Saw that Edric immediately shot himself down. Something that she is all too familiar with herself. She’s no stranger to “chronic pain” herself having been cursed for so long. She wanted Edric’s help *genuinely*, and seemed to allow him to help her without putting him through too much stress or strenuously stretching him out until he wore thin and collapsed. It seemed that she understood him A LOT, and in the little bit of time they had together. And when he messed up, she validated him. Told him that he helped her a lot more than she had originally planned and had a very bright future ahead of him.

This kind of behavior is EXTREMELY important for people with a chronic illness or pain. Validation. No matter how big or small, it MEANS something to us. Even if we didn’t do a lot of physical things or strain ourselves to death, the validation and recognition that we at least did SOMETHING is praise enough. Especially when we feel like or just simply aren’t getting it enough/from others that we SHOULD be getting it from. Eda would be, in my opinion, the PERFECT person to help Edric accept himself not only in his intelligence and talents, but his chronic pain.

I view Eda’s curse very much as a chronic thing, since she’s lived with it for so long and *needed* to maintain it with potions (aka: medications). She knows what it’s like to now not be able to do a lot of magic since the curse is now shared and she was drained of magical properties. And Edric is EXCELLING. She saw an opportunity to gain some help herself, without feeling ashamed or putting herself down. She saw potential in him, and didn’t gaslight or make him feel as though he had to help her to EARN something. Yeah, she said something about not needing to pay him, but it wasn’t with malicious intent. It was an observation, because she saw how much he lit up at the chance to help and prove himself to *someone.* Something she’s had to do for a very, very long time.

In closing, I really like the view/headcanon/idea that Edric has some form of physical limitations or chronic pain in some regards. He has exceptional days, of course, where he can goof off, play pranks, and use all of his amazing magical skills to their fullest, just like anyone with a disability/chronic pain. And this episode REALLY hit home with me for a lot of reasons to the point of tears and feeling seen myself.

There was a lot to gather from Ed in that episode and the idea that he may very well have limitations physically intrigues me. Especially in using a concealment stone, so that he looked put together and totally fine. A very common mask for people who are disabled or living a chronic life. He’s expected to look perfect and act as such from Odalia and Alador. And there very well could be the perfect explanation and reason that he’s entirely self conscious about his looks, as well. Which really isn’t a far stretch of truth considering that they have to look perfectly perfect, and Amity seems to be, out of the three of them, the most beautiful physically without any teenage flaws to her looks.

This was a very interesting look into Edric that me and my wiefe had, and I completely accept it as a valid and plausible headcanon. Which not only makes sense, but really warms my heart as an Edric enthusiast and kin.

We’re talking of how Odalia forced the twins to be identical and matching, seeing them as just two parts of a unit and not their own person;

Which of course leads to Emira’s worst fear being trapped with Edric forever. And it’s not that she doesn’t like her brother, but you can really get the sense that she’s tired of being forced to BE with him 24/7, which contrasts with Edric’s fear of being alone forever.

So I love the decision to make these kids their own variation of multi-track, while still illusions as well! It represents the two individuating, no longer being conjoined at the hip because they have different classes now; But at the same time they’re still together. They have their own identities now but are still linked by illusions as they always were! Emira and Edric can now just find a healthy balance between being their own person and being connected to each other, Em doesn’t have to sacrifice her bond with her siblings to self-actualize! I appreciate it a lot given the show’s theme of being able to connect with others while still being your own person, and vice-versa.

As someone who got invested in and concerned about a potential conflict between Emira and Edric’s desires, seeing Edric be able to make his own bonds without his sister and not have to be codependent with her, which then frees Emira to do her own thing, but they don’t have to leave that close thick-as-thieves sibling bond they really do pride… It means a lot to me seeing them reconcile these seemingly contradictory fears/goals. It’s definitely an improvement from the Clawthorne sisters splitting apart; Eda wanting to do her own thing and separating from Lilith, and Lily taking it personally, trying to drag her sister into the conforming Emperor’s Coven with her for companionship!

Though, she would much prefer the backyard of the Owl House decorated with flowers from the Human Realm and with all her friends and family.

Amity and Luz are getting married!
Lots of shenanigans ensue and their big day promises to be memorable when Luz decides to make the slightest changes to their program.

Hey guys!

I decided to write some fluffy goodness so I can get back from all the angst I’ve written until now xD
Okay, Noble Pursuit is pretty fluffy, still, but it’s also to counter the mean canon rn wheeze
I’m still working on Noble Pursuit and Built to Last, not to worry!
And I’ll be writing the aus I’ve been promising with the last chapter I uploaded, so be looking out for updates from my account!
Have a great day or night, whenever you are and read you soon again!
I’m thrilled over every single comment I receive! <3

There were many easy things about marrying.

Especially if you had a fiancé who was very good at organizing and a family backing you up. Yes, for Luz, it had been very easy to prepare for this wedding. She had gone along with Amity to choose a location, decorations, the color scheme for their wedding, the bridesmaids and the other bridesmaids, and it had gone smoothly.

Amity had gone dress shopping with Willow, Boscha, and Emira while Luz had been out getting fitted suits with Gus, Hunter, and Edric. They had made sure the cake was ordered and that they’d practice dancing and that dinner would be ready and to have the schedule figured out and that everything around the evening would be running smoothly.

For Luz it had honestly just been a few months of shopping, cake tasting, having a lot of fun at dance lessons, and making sure Amity wouldn’t stress too much.

Before she had thought about any kind of commitment, she hadn’t cared what color the napkins were or where the location should be, or whether to offer bottled drinks or go all the way and hire a bartender.

She still hadn’t cared up until she had put that ring on Amity’s finger and thus, started the wedding planning. But Amity cared and with that, Luz had felt the strong urge to back her soon-to-be wife up in every aspect of wedding planning there was. Even if that sometimes meant giving an answer she didn’t care for just so Amity wouldn’t have to stress over deciding on her own.

Questions like, would they marry in the morning or afternoon?

Amity had stressed about listing the pros and cons of both options so much that Luz had just decided on having a ceremony in the afternoon so Amity could start planning around her choice. Even if it didn’t matter to her. She’d marry Amity anywhere and anytime. At 3 am in an alley, rats running between their feet and a dumpster fire in the background included.

Though, she would much prefer the backyard of the Owl House decorated with flowers from the Human Realm and with all her friends and family.

But the closer the wedding had come, and the more Luz had realized that this was actually happening, she had begun stressing. Not in the bad sense, of course. Luz would never stress about her wedding in a bad way!

Especially not when the feeling of nervousness settled in her stomach, or if her hands got clammy, or if she was looking at her fitted suit in the dresser that she had gotten together with Gus, Hunter, and Edric, knowing the next time she would be wearing this suit would be when she would be standing at the altar, waiting for Amity to be walked up the aisle. No, actually she didn’t know what her fiancé had planned for them or the ceremony. She thought she had said something about walking up the aisle together?

Oh god, Luz was gonna throw up.

She had forgotten what was going to happen.

No, she had not, she knew the plan. Why was it so warm in here?

She was just telling herself that she didn’t know anymore what the plan was when clearly, she knew Amity and her were gonna walk up the aisle to the altar together, where they would-… Where was her tie?!

Now frantically searching through the closet in her old room, Luz felt sweat beading on her forehead and her breath quickening. This was a disaster, she had misplaced the tie and-…

Wait, her suit didn’t have a tie.

Why was she so goddamn nervous all of a sudden?

Dropping on the bed to calm her nerves, Luz let out a big sigh and rubbed her face. She would be fine. There was going to be the ceremony, there was going to be a lot of joy today and she would not be panicking. This was not going to be ruined by this suddenly getting to her nerves.

Luz breathed for a while, thinking back to how much fun the preparations had been and how helpful everyone had been.
Willow and her Mama had picked out and ordered flowers from the human realm, Edric and Emira had helped prepare the Owl House’s backyard together with Hooty and Eda, Gus had put together all the wedding gifts, and Boscha and her gang had made sure the buffet and the cake was ready by the time they needed it to be.

Even King had helped out, setting up the location with the twins, making sure every guest had their invitation, and helping calm Eda’s nerves.

Speaking of the devil, a commotion in front of her door made her look up and she quickly shook out her hands, standing up to open the door. All her siblings, Hunter, Vee, and King, were standing in front of the door, her brothers looking like they were just about to start a fight. Before she could comment on that, Vee stepped past them and smiled, leading her back inside.

“Hey, Luz! We just wanted to check up on you.”, she cheerily said and Luz was relieved to see both Hunter and King were following, closing the door.

“I’m good, thanks… Hey, I thought you wanted to go in your true form?”, she only now realized her sister was half transformed, looking similar to Luz herself just with blue eyes and her ears sticking out of the brown hair, sporting a few spots on the skin.

Vee chuckled and shrugged, patting her back as they sat down on the bed’s edge.

“Well, I figured I didn’t want to stand out too much. I’ve lived fifteen years in this form now, I’ve practically adopted it as my own now. And the human clothes are fancy, I wanted to wear them.”

Luz grinned as she recognized the dress Amity’s bridesmaids wore, just in another color than them.

“You could wear that in your basilisk form, too.”, she remarked but as long as Vee felt comfortable, she’d be happy with any form she chose. Her sister shrugged with a smile, then Hunter piped up.

“Hey, uhm-… Everyone arrived now. Do you wanna start yet, or…?”, he awkwardly stalled, patting his thighs, before blowing a raspberry.

“Are you impatient?”, Vee cheekily asked and Hunter pulled on the neckline of his suit.

“I just don’t get why Luz gets to wear an open collar and I have to wear a tie.”, he complained and Luz shrugged, pulling on her open collar to tease him.

“One, bride’s orders. Amity color coordinated you guys and I have a different outfit.”, she smugly replied to which Hunter merely rolled his eyes, “Second, she can’t resist my super sexy collar bones and wants these bad boys out for her to see.”

King rolled his eyes as Hunter made a gagging sound, then he softly shoved Luz’s shoulder.

“You just resisted wearing a tie.”, he laughed and Luz shrugged, grinning.

“You couldn’t make me wear a tie in a million years.”

Hunter merely huffed at that, then he crossed his arms.

“Anyway, get ready. We don’t have all day.”, he tactfully hurried and Luz gulped, nodding, before rubbing her palms together.

“Y-Yeah… I suppose…”, she mumbled, looking down.

Both Vee and King immediately picked up on that and King placed a claw on her shoulder, tilting his head.

“Hey, are you alright?”, he asked and Luz shrugged, “Getting cold feet?”

Immediately looking up, Luz shook her head. Almost indignantly, she got to her feet to level her youngest sibling with a look, even if he stood two heads taller than her.

“Not at all! I wanna marry Amity so bad! But-…”, sighing, she kicked at the floor, looking out to the window, “It’s such a big thing that we both worked towards… She did more than me, but still. It-… I don’t wanna mess up is all.”

Vee almost chuckled at that, shaking her head.

“You won’t mess up, Luz. And even if you did! Everyone out there is there for you two. We love you and totally understand if you’ve got the nerves.”, she reassured and Luz found that it helped a little bit. Everyone out there knew she was prone to chaos. And nobody would really mind if she messed up a little bit. She supposed it’d make for a few funny memories in all this official stuff.

“But-… What if Amity minds? She planned it all out, what if she is upset if I mess up?”, Luz now worried, chewing her lip and looking around her siblings.

“Amity is marrying you.”, Hunter now said, giving a careless shrug, “She should know the best how dorky you are. Messing up is part of her life now and besides, she’s just as nervous as you are.”

He received a light tap from Vee at that but chose to ignore his sister being unhappy with how he worded it.

Luz, on the other hand, lit up.

“Actually, you’re right. Amity knows I’m dorky.”, she giggled to herself, “Thanks, guys. You’re really helping me out here.”

King pulled her into a big hug, pulling Vee and Hunter in as well, then the siblings parted and Luz looked up to see Gus standing in the doorway.

“Hey Luz!”, he greeted, “Wanna come down already?”

She smiled and nodded at that, following him down to the waiting crowd that had collected in Eda’s living room. Her Mama was here, as well as Boscha’s gang, even if Boscha herself was missing. As were the twins. They were probably with Amity right now, to calm her nerves as well. Eda and Lilith were just coming out of the kitchen, bickering about something, and she could even spot Amity’s parents in a corner, not really fitting in with the rest of the crowd but still nodding to her when Odalia spotted her.

It hadn’t been easy to reconcile Amity with her parents after the battle around the day of unity, but Luz had insisted she at least hear them out. Turned out that had been just the right thing to do, because Amity had discussed everything that had built up with them, and had managed to tolerate them for a few months, before somewhat mending their relationship.

She hadn’t forgotten them, especially Odalia, for her childhood, but it was a start to talk honestly as adults. In a quiet moment, Amity had confessed to Luz that she felt like her parents had only really begun understanding her when she had grown up to be an adult.

When she had decided to invite them to their wedding, it had come as a surprise for Luz, but not an unpleasant one. As much as they had done wrong before the battle, they had made up for a lot in the aftermath and had shown they were willing to work on themselves.

But for now, there was no time to dwell on her memories. Luz went around and greeted everyone, getting pats on her shoulder and heartfelt hugs from the people she was close to. Amity and she had decided not to make some sort of big reveal or to have their guests situated on their seats before the ceremony, but instead to start off with a relaxed greeting time, not to be too nervous. The more Luz talked to all her family and friends, the more relaxed she felt.

Now, the only ones missing were the other bride, her siblings, and Boscha.

And Willow, Luz noticed. She hadn’t seen her friend yet. Since Willow was Amity’s first bridesmaid, she was probably needed right now.

Finally, Boscha came back into the living room and after she let her eyes roam around for a second, she met Luz’s. With a nod, she motioned for her to follow and Luz did so, outside into the hallway to talk in relative peace.

“Okay, so, Amity’s really nervous, you know her.”, Boscha rolled her eyes and Luz chuckled, before nodding, “She wants to talk to you really quick.”

Luz shrugged and nodded, already on her way to open Lilith’s study, the room they had dedicated as Amity’s changing room for the evening before Boscha stopped her.

“Wow, hold on a second, lovebird. She doesn’t want you to see her.”, she said and Luz groaned.

“Seriously? I thought we agreed on no ridiculous- Amity?”, she called through the door, and on the other end, she heard scrambling before something smaller but definitely bulkier than she smashed against the door. A moment later, she heard Willow’s voice.

“Luz!”, she said and Luz faintly heard Amity whispering something to her, before she spoke up again, “Can you put on a blindfold? Amity wants you to-…”

Grumbling, Luz felt Boscha tapping her shoulder and indeed handing her a piece of cloth that Luz recognized as a tie before she turned back to the door.

“Aw, come on. I already saw the dress, Amity!”, she called but the door stayed shut so she gave in, “Fine! I’ll wear the-… Gimme.”

She took the tie from Boscha’s hands and just barely saw her smirking, still, before putting it on and tying a knot behind her head. She felt the door being opened and was welcomed into a room that usually smelled like books and comfortable cleanliness (something very unusual for the Owl House) but was now also accompanied by slight dust of perfume from everyone inside.

She was pushed in and Boscha followed her, closing the door behind her as she blindly felt around. Someone clasped her hands and she recognized them as Amity’s, immediately smiling.
“Hey, what’s up?”, she tried to lighten the mood and her soon-to-be-wife stepped closer until she was leaning against her chest. With a big sigh, she slumped against Luz.

“… I just needed you near…”, she mumbled and she gave a chuckle, enveloping the smaller witch in a hug, pulling her in close.

“… Are you that nervous?”, she asked and Amity huffed, shaking her head.

“More like… Jittery. Not nervous. Today will go great, I’m just-… A lot of preparation leads up to this and I’m not sure what to think of this.”

Luz nodded in understanding, pressing a kiss to where she thought Amity’s hair was but feeling a veil under her lips.

“Yeah, I feel you… After months of planning for this one day, it feels… Overwhelming.”, she admitted and Amity nodded against her, her arms wrapping around her back and holding her close as well. Luz let her bask in the hug for a while before giggling.

“What’s with the tie, by the way? I already saw the dress and I thought we had agreed not to make it a big thing?”, she asked and felt Amity giggling as well now. She booked that as a win.

“Well, you never saw the dress on me.”, Amity argued now and Luz laughed at that, nodding.

“… ‘Suppose that’s right. Still. Do you want to make it a big reveal to everyone?”, she asked and Amity shook her head now, stepping out of the hug as she grabbed Luz’s hands again.

“No, only to you.”

Luz laughed, letting her fiancé play with her hands, before trying to get a peek under the tie, but someone clapped the back of her head. She supposed that was Emira.

“Alright then. You tell me when to take it off.”, she softly said and Amity gestured before she felt the same hand grabbing the knot on the back of her head being grabbed and pulling upwards, effectively uncovering her eyes. Luz blinked once or twice to shake off the blurriness, before looking down at her wife.

She stood taller than normal, her heels elevating her a little bit, and was looking every bit as gorgeous as Luz had dreamed her to be when she had seen the dress for the very first time.

The white dress was hugging Amity’s curves perfectly, the corset sitting on her waist highlighting her lean figure, while her skirt was falling a little more open, decorated with patterns of lace and flowers down to the hem. Atop her long lavender hair sat the veil that was falling past her shoulders down to the hem as well. Willow had even gone the extra mile and decorated the veil with a little flower crown and a few petals over her bare shoulders. Luz felt her jaw falling, before pulling her lips into a shy smile.

“… Wow…”, she breathed and Amity giggled, pulling herself closer to Luz’s hands, “You look gorgeous… I-… I don’t even know what to say…”

Amity laughed at that, pulling their hands together so she could free one, placing it on the side of Luz’s neck.

“You clean up quite nice yourself.”, she teased and Luz huffed indignantly as Amity played with the collar of her dress shirt.

“Excuse me, I expect no less than gorgeous about my outfit as well.”, she teased back and Amity laughed.

“Fine, you look gorgeous, too.”, she smirked, “Quite handsome.”

Luz gave a satisfied grin, but before they could lean in to share a kiss, Boscha pulled them apart and gagged.

“You two are insufferable. Also, the people want to greet you, too, Amity. And the ceremony should start soon. Chop chop, people, others still have plans for tonight!”, she called and Luz laughed at her friends’ antics, shaking her head as Boscha pushed her out of the room.

“What kinda plans do you have for tonight other than the wedding?”, she questioned, to which Boscha gave her a quizzical, almost questioning look.

“Hello? There is a big bowl of apple juice with my name on it that won’t drink itself. Also, your mom brought some of that human stuff, anocohl, or something. So, get a move on! I’m impatient!”, she exclaimed and Luz knew Boscha was excited for them as well. She just didn’t want to show it and had to ridicule the situation to feel more comfortable. Honestly, she could feel with her.

Luz was shoved right into the crowd who were all turning their attention to her, expecting to see the other bride, but Luz merely lifted her hands.

“Sorry, guys! Amity will be out in a second!”, she smirked and some of their guests gave a small laugh before she leaned to her Mama and whispered.

“You brought alcohol?”, she asked and her mother nodded, so she chuckled, “Make sure to save me some. Also, don’t give anything to the pink-haired witch that just shoved me in here.”

Her mother assured her she would be keeping an eye on Boscha, just when a shout came down the hallway.

“I heard that, human!”

Luz gave a snort and was about to respond to that when a gasp went through the room and Amity appeared in the doorway. Once again, she felt her jaw falling but managed to step toward her fiancé and hold out her arm so she could present her to the wedding guests.

“I thought you didn’t want to make a big entrance out of this?”, Amity whispered to her when Luz put her hand over Amity’s that she had looped around her elbow, and Luz chuckled.

“It kind of just happened.”, she replied and Amity shot her an amused glance.

“Let’s hope it’s the last of your changes to our original plan.”, she commented, which involuntarily turned a switch in the young human she definitely knew Eda had raised her to have. Just the spark of mischievousness.

She was sure their guests wouldn’t mind some good-natured laughter tonight.

“It’ll definitely be the last.”, she replied and didn’t mean a word.

I know we say this every week but that was honestly one of my favorite episodes! Top 5!

Finally, a proper Gus episode with no Lumity to overshadow him. Seeing Gus and Willow’s origin was so sweet, how she helped him calm down melted my heart!

Geez Amity pissed me off this episode. Willow may have been timid and shy before but she’s gotten so much stronger, physically and mentally! I know Amity is trying to be a good friend, but she still hasn’t met the real Willow yet.

At least he’s safe for now. And is that his Emerald Entrail jersey!?

I never expected Matt long ass name to join a second coven, let alone the illusion track. Nevertheless, I love it! Also the twins look great! If you listen closely you can hear Odalia’s blood boiling.

Gus is so strong and talented! To see an illusion from that far away and be able to counter it from the Head Witch of the track no less! Not to mention the illusions he creates. In season 1, he struggled with creating messages for Luz and in season 2, my boy is covering schools and graveyards with illusions!

This is a friendship I never saw coming, but I’m not complaining! Gus helping Hunter breathe and trying to talk to him while at the same time respecting his privacy. God this show is just so freaking great!

Bump and the Illusions professor definitely had Dumbledore and Mcgonagall vibes this episode. I’ve always liked Bump but after this episode and “Them’s the Break, Kid” I’ve only come to enjoy him more!

Strike a pose!

This episode was stellar everyone! Gus once again overcoming his insecurities and proving how strong he is, Hunter rebelling against Belos and revealing his plans, Willow and Amity continuing to mend their friendship, Bump being awesome, and showing everyone how dangerous illusions can be!

Three episodes left of season two and we are going in blind. We have that screenshot of King and Steve but that’s it. Can’t wait for next week!

Aladarius Theory

So I planned to make a post on this last week but life - such as quitting one of my jobs - got in the way.

Anyway, I mentioned this in my thoughts regarding the episode “Them’s the Breaks, Kid” but I feel like this deserves it own post. So my theory is that I strongly suspect before Alador got together with Odalia, that he was in a relationship with Darius. This train of thought originally got going when I saw this clip of them.

Like you have Alador and Darius sat together, laughing and having fun. And while Odalia sort of joins in, with how she is stood there not looking like part of the group but being sorta on the outside looking in. It kinda feels like she is inserting herself where she is not wanted.

Odalia and Alador’s marriage doesn’t particularly strike me as a happy one either. Throughout “Escaping Expulsion”, Alador seems to defer to Odalia to a ridiculous extent and only stands up to her when the Blight name is being put at threat by her attempting to go back on her word.

Which brings me to another point, as to why Alador would leave Darius for Odalia in the first place. In “Understanding Willow” it is Alador who initially is portrayed as the more villainous of the two Blight parents. He is the one who lays down the law on what is expected of a Blight to Amity and that they “only associate with the strongest of witchlings”. They lined up friends for Amity they felt were more appropriate, Boscha and Skara and pushed her towards them despite her objections. Maybe Alador’s parents had a similar discussion with him. Maybe it took time for Darius to come into his powers and so Alador’s parents decided he wasn’t a suitable partner for their son to be with and pushed him towards Odalia instead. Someone they feel is worthy of carrying the Blight name.

In “Reaching Out”, when Alador finally notices him and Odalia are forcing things on Amity she doesn’t actually want, he actually does seem to finally take pause and seem to realise what he is doing to his child. This has me wondering if this takes him back to his own childhood and the things his parents may have forced on him which he doesn’t want. I also just gave this scene a rewatch and he mentions how he likes Amity’s new hair colour because it is abomination coloured. So far Amity has been forced by Odalia to dye her hair green, so it matches the hair of Odalia, Edric and Emira. Amity dying her hair abomination coloured would make it more reminiscent of that of Darius. Maybe he is imagining in that moment what his kid could have been like if he had stayed with Darius.

Finally, Darius and Alador have a rivalry. In “Eda’s Requiem”, Darius tells Kikimora to tell “Alador that he’s a hack”. If Alador had broken up with Darius due to his parents, it may explain his coldness towards Alador. Meanwhile Alador may feel resentful of Darius, that after leaving him, he has since grown into his powers and then possibly became Head of the Abomination Coven over him.

And hey, maybe it holds no water but this is my theory and I am standing by it

I’ve noticed that this post has been getting a lot of attention since the airing of “Clouds on the Horizon”. I wonder why

I seriously am so confident in the fact that Aladarius is or at the very least will be canon. I can just feel it. And hopefully the Blight siblings can get the two loving dads they deserve

This episode pretty much changed entirely the way I see Alador.

Learning that one of the main reasons he neglected Amity and the twins was actually because he had a deal with Odalia to not to force their kids into literal child labor (mostly Amity because she’s the one on the abomination track, but also the twins, who she’d probably force into joining the abomination coven even if they don’t want to) as long as he did all the work himself and didn’t step out of line. He really overworked himself for years hoping he’d take most of the abuse and the kids would be left alone, or at least to be able to study what they wanted.

This also makes me see the moment when he told Odalia to leave Amity and their friends alone in Escaping Expulsion in a different light, if I already saw it differently after Reaching Out: he actually wanted Amity to be happy and hang out with their friends. And he did use the whole “she’s strong enough to become a coven leader” thing to convince Odalia to let her be, even if he actually did hope she would get to join the Emperor’s Coven and one of the reasons why is because he thought she wanted to (and when she was finally able to talk to talk to him and tell him in Reaching Out that nope, she didn’t want to… he didn’t seem to care). The other reason why he’d probably want her to be a coven head is because if she didn’t, maybe Odalia would force her into working for the company, and he didn’t want her to end up like him.

He still wasn’t a good parent and none of this really excuses him but, learning he was actually a victim all along as well made me feel terrible for him, to be honest. He kind of reminds me of Willow (Schnee, from RWBY, not Willow Park): not really an abusive parent as much as a neglectful one—and an abuse victim too—, who’s too scared to stand up to the abusive one. But he finally did and I’m happy for him.

Congrats on the divorce, dude, hope you can be a better father now and be happy.

Also props to him apologizing to Luz and telling her she’d always be welcome into their home lol even if it was actually Hunter lmao

this scene was so powerful. the owl house has always done a great job at showing the effects of toxic parenting, but actually seeing the extent to which odalia goes, how much she will sacrifice for high status, was jarring. im so glad that kids get to see amity fight back against it, and choose happiness over her mothers negligent demands.
