Typical Tuesday
“I’ll tell you,” said Vimes. “A monarch’s an absolute ruler, right? The head honcho–”
“Unless he’s a queen,” said Carrot.
Vimes glared at him, and then nodded.
“OK, or the head honchette–”
“No, that’d only apply if she was a young woman. Queens tend to be older. She’d have to be a…a honcharina? No, that’s for the very young princesses. No. Um. A honchess, I think.”
Vimes paused. There’s something in the air in this city, he thought. If the Creator had said, “Let there be light” in Ankh-Morpork, he’d have got no further because of all the people saying, “What color?”

- commit to less: instead of saying I NEED TO WORK THIS DAY or x hours, commit to 15 mins, maybe even 5 mins, pat yourself on the back for doing so and then work on lengthening your focus time through out the day. Highly recommend using the Pomodoro Method and then modifiying it based on how long you can focus for.
- glass half full: instead of worrying about what you haven’t done, try to think about what you’re doing right now, keep yourself to your present. Easier said than done, but nothing is more important than your present
- track your time, track what you do with it. it helps you be aware of your present state. Gives you more of a sense of control. Although I’m not making any changes to how i use my time, at least now i know how i spent it. I no longer feel like, time is a force working against me. (easier said than done). I recommend Hourly on IOS
- play a study with me video, watch a stream, work with a partner, I can’t focus easily so i need to be able to have something to look at when my focus dies. A study with me video/stream is a good motivator/reminder of what i want to do/why I’m working.
- drink water another form of benign distraction, but also being hydrated helps you be more awake and focused!
- light exercise, a 30 second plank, some pushups, maybe just pacing while doing flash cards help you focus more. it gets rid fo the jittter bug restlessness you feel. Throw yourself a lil dance party! See how high you can kick! get your blood moving, it doesn’t have to be stellar or athletic
- Take a break. Sometimes, you really need to take a break. Even if its a break from your break. if the break isn’t a break if it isn’t helping you focus more later. or just better about yourself really
- Make a Distractions list: write down everything that is on your mind as the come to you, so it doesn’t bother you the entire focus session, nor can it lead to you *spending hours scrolling through social media*
