Deep Thoughts Outlander 402: Do No Harm

ulysses outlander

This was a hard watch by any estimation (and political AF for a production that claims not to be) but especially watching it through my personal lens: female, immigrant, person of color with 43.9% native DNA (top 20th percentile for Neanderthal variants, what what). As a rule Outlanderis part inspiration, part escapism and part brutal truth but this episode, for me, was a truth hammer with very…

Animals are here with us, not for us. We should protect the vulnerable, but instead we are taking advantage of them & abusing them for profit, fashion, entertainment, experiments, & food. We don’t need to use animals for any of these reasons. 77 billion animals are killed every year for food alone. There is a vegan & cruelty free alternative to everything!

'Top scientist Dr Beth Anderson would do anything but admit the truth. Terrified of causing harm to others, she’s compelled to break into a high security lab to steal an out-of-date sandwich. Pursued by the authorities, is she about to lose everything or will she find compassion in the most unlikely place?’

Do No Harm premieres at the Raindance Film Festival 2020 and is a Best UK Short Nominee.

Here’s the trailer for Do No Harm, a thriller which premieres at the Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2020, in November.

“Leading scientist, Dr Beth Anderson, breaks into a high security facility in the dead of night. Why is she there? Is she a thief? A terrorist? A threat to national security? None of the above. Risking her career rather than admit the truth that she has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and overwhelmed by a fear of causing harm to others, she has been compelled into her most critical mission yet - to steal an out of date sandwich, in order to save a pregnant colleague from eating it. Just as Beth is about to lose everything, she finds connection and understanding from an unlikely source.”

Sharon Rooney stars alongside Claudie Blakley and Alison O'Donnell. She plays Shauna, a security guard.

Do No Harm is directed by Douglas King, with an original score by Alexandra Hamilton-Ayres. Screenplay by Rosy Barnes.
