LIVE

(Development concepts, non-final)

Dinosovian development generally mirrors that of human beings, except where infants and toddlers are involved. The dinosovian “infant” state of general helplessness lasts only a few weeks post-hatching for carnivorous types, days in the case of Cerosoids and Thyrenes, and hours for podites. The child very rapidly learns to walk and run after this point, with motor skills developing rapidly and mostly instinctually.

The large brain size, language capacity, and other hallmarks of sapience develop slowly after hatching. This “baby” stage is less like caring for a human infant and more like owning a cat or dog that starts talking after two or three years. By the time the dinosovian child is 5-6 years old, they are equivalent to a human 3 year old and develop at a similar rate thereafter

Dinosovian tradition holds that the parents give children a “hatchling name.” This is a temporary name used by family and friends, and is usually a descriptive or affectionate gender-neutral nickname that translates to something like “Sweetroot”,  “Stomper”,  “Flufftop”,  “Nibble”, “Fangsy”, etc.

When the child is deemed “old enough” (different families have different traditions about what that means, usually associated with a specific hatching day, a physiological development marker or a ritual test) the family holds an “introduction ceremony” in which the child presents their identity, both in name and gender, to family and friends. Thereafter, only close family members will continue to use the hatchling name as a nickname.

Because these naming ceremonies happen when the child is emotionally equivalent to a human kindergartener, parents usually provide a selection of name options, and a poor choice can be revised with the offices of DynoCLAW (Civilian Logistics, Agriculture and Welfare) for 150 root and a mandatory viewing of an educational vidplay about responsible naming.

Fossil Ghoul “Bone Drone” 2″ Sculpt (In Progress)

Made of dark amber and fossil bone. Extinxion creates and commands the bone drones, each of which is a fragment of his power and will. As servitor creatures they lack Dark Hearts and with them the individuality and autonomy that defines a true Fossil Ghoul. They do, however, possess the supernatural resistance to harm of a Fossil Ghoul and the accompanying vulnerability to DynoGuard Chronite-based technology.

Extinxion favors humanoid Bone Drones that act as lesser imitations of himself, adorned with a variety of animal-skull heads. Most stand about 9 feet tall and fight either with teeth and claws or with melee weapons made of bone and dark amber. They act as guards, foot-soldiers, and laborers for the Fossil Ghoul cause.

The stores of matter and power that Extinxion uses for Bone Drones are the same ones used by his Warlord form and other alternate configurations. Therefor, the more drones he has active, the less power he has to use personally.

DynoGuard Sculpt Early Peeks

We’ve got the 2″ scale Yorik figure, who is almost complete (still needs some expression asymmetry, his “waddle” bandage loop and some texturing.

Also included is a possible “mini-ghoul” sidekick/pet character, in this case a montauk monster. I’m not sure if this design will wind up being a DG thing, or if its going to be used in a different project.

I’m trying on a new color-scheme for HodgePodge, and finding that I really like the new one for Linn in practice.

Linn in Pink.Magenta (Fighterflight Armor)
Cora in White & Red (Trailrazor Armor)
Kyle in Green (HazzMaxx Armor)
Zara in Purple (EchoChamber Armor)
Jason in Blue (DynoSphere Vehicle)

In addition to changing the colors for the whole team (only Brach and Cora keep their main color coding from the last version), every team member now has a distinctive flesh-tone, the whole team now uses the same energy effect, being the “chronite” cyan.

Thoughts and feedback are very much requested.

In the main lineup, left to right, we have Zara (EchoChamber Armor), Brach (Civilian Gear), Cora (Trailrazor Armor), Linn (Civilian Gear) and Kyle (Hazmaxx Armor), the main dinos of the series concept. The figures are designed with shoulder articulation in mind, great for blind-packs and multi-packs.

“Onitherium” in Progress Sculpt

Onitherium and his sleazy manger/championship belt are a low-ranked Fossil Ghoul combining the traits of the ancient mammal uintatherium, an oni, and a pro-wrestling heel.

The sculpt is currently symmetrical, after which he’s going to get a shoulder-strap on one side for his singlet. His Dark Heart incarnates poor sportsmanship, cheating and rudeness, All the Fossil Ghouls are bullies when the opportunity arises, but this guy, I think, owns that as his schtick.

I can see him and Dimetrogorgon teaming up for rock-brained schemes.

Kyle Action Figure Sculpt

A 2" Scale figure sculpt for Kyle, in his Hazmaxx armor. made primarily in sculptris. Kyle’s the team’s mechanical engineer and chemist. He lost his arm to a time field collapse, thus his prosthetic. His HazMaxx armor protects him from environmental threats and can synthesize, mix, and project chemical compounds on the fly.

A stone-color and ink-wash version would be inevitable, on account of his Fossilization DynoPower.

Brach Figure Sculpts

And toy design musings.

Top, we have a 2″ scale (He’s closer to 3″ with the neck) Brach in Civilian Gear, he just needs his DynoBadge and the clasps on his overalls. The 2″ figures are being done “wrapped tail” to work with bucket/chariot style vehicle cockpits/platforms.

Slammerhead Brach is going to be a larger design, probably about 6″ counting the neck (so really more like a 4″ TMNT figure). When interacting with the smaller figs this would represent Brach when he’s using his size-changing DynoPower. He’ll probably get a 1″ mini-partner (always loved those in TMNT, GI-Joe, etc) in the form of a tiny Jason James, to ride on his shoulder, or a Fossil Ghoul ‘critter’ to capture with his tail-pliers or shovel-claws. Neck articulation to allow for a Slammerhead attack is of course, a must.

Yorik (EGA-Retro)

Another noncanon art poster (though the green bones gives me ideas).

Meet Yorik, the mummy oviraptor! Yorik is Extinxion’s right-claw monster and perpetual scapegoat. While he has a habit of literally losing his head, Yorik is a talented monstersmith and master of evil sorcery.
