X-men: The Trial of Magneto #2 (OF 5) by Valerio Schiti

I’m very intrigued by this upcoming mini-event. I’m hoping Magneto will not return to his fully villainous ways because I love his heroic, leadership role in the Krakoa. This particular cover interests me because of the inclusion of the Wanda, Pietro, Billy, and Tommy. For a while we have lived within the retcon that Magneto is not the father (or grandfather) of these four, but with this cover, I’m hoping that Marvel will now retcon the retcon. I loved this messed up family and want them back at the forefront of the comics.

All these amazing Marvel films and shows and yet none of them have achieved what X-Men: First Class has…a team up movie that doesn’t feel soulless!

My favorite scene from X-men first class

Why would mutants be hated in the MCU?

A large part of the identity of mutants in the Marvel universe is the fact that they represent minorities, and therefore, face a certain level of bigotry and prosecution. Now that the X-Men are set to join the MCU, why would the general public have a distain or dislike of mutants, considering other superpowered characters are treated like heroes, like The Avengers? I have a proposition.

I think that the concept of mutant hatred being politicised makes a lot of sense.

I think that governments and people in power preferring superpowered beings that they can control, and therefore branding anybody outside of that, especially people without a platform, the way that most mutants are portrayed as more or less everyday people rather than kings, billionaires, gods, etc. is a good and easy target for them to weaponise the public’s perception into anti-mutant, pro-government, pro-military propaganda.

The foundation’s already there with The Sokovia Accords, with various governments being much more in favour of controlling superpowered individuals rather than letting any of them freely act of their own individual or group accords. Mutants can simply be a face for that general sentiment to be perpetuated through propaganda. Yay War Machine, yay Captain America. Characters who have already been proven to have saved the world in large, well-known conflicts like what happened in Avengers: Endgame already have a certain level of public goodwill that governments would find hard to fight against, but newer, or lesser-known, or everyday mutants don’t have that same level of goodwill, nor influence, nor power (theoretically), that characters like The Avengers already have, and so could much easier be marketed as threats to the everyday public.

Also, seeing as not every mutant has powers that would largely benefit most governments, but there’s also some that could be weaponised dramatically, it’s believable that various governments would want to deter mutant goodwill as propaganda against other governments potentially using them, while also giving excuses not to put mutant-positive propositions forward themselves because mutants aren’t always powerfully useful for self-serving politicians and governments. If it doesn’t directly and selfishly help them personally, then they aren’t going to support it, and instead weaponise that disregard in an attempt to further their own agendas.

“Mutants are too variable to be trusted, or more accurately, used.”.

another angsty relic from that scrapped comic idea

this was a concept sketch for a metallokinesis comic i was thinking of doing a while back, peter was gonna get impaled with a hunk of metal that erik lost control of during a battle, and as he’s dying he tries using his speed to feel like he’s not really dying in real time, and in doing so something kinda clicks with his mutation as a survival response, and bam, somehow he gets metal powers, almost dies, he and erik use their abilities together to keep peter alive, almost doesn’t work, angst angst angst, and I never really got past that part. I ended up doing that silver comic instead, but i might explore this idea again someday

my first x-men fan comic vs my most recent

it’s fun seeing that I’ve changed this much between the two of these

I actually used Minecraft to do the perspective in the first onewtf was I on

erik doesn’t know whether to be mad or proud, so he is both, peter is confused

and thus, my summer project is complete (for now)

i still plan to continue to make fan art on this blog, but it may be slightly slowed down now that school is starting up, but i’ll still be here

I watched the first x men again after many years and… Magneto caught me slipping

[ID: Digital art of Emma Frost and Erik Lensherr. Emma is drawn as a white blond woman with black eyeliner, ice blue earrings and nails, and her hair tied back in a bun. Erik is drawn as an older man with brown skin, short curly white hair, purple eyes, and magenta gloves. Both are wearing heeled boots and stylish white suits, with the suit jacket buttoned over a bare chest. They’re standing next to each other in confident, relaxed poses, holding flutes of champagne. Emma is tapping Erik on the arm, and both characters are smirking at the viewer as if gossiping about them. end ID]

Commission I finished for @soundingonlyatnightasyousleep! They wanted a drawing of Emma and Magneto looking stylish together in distinctive white outfits. I had a lot of fun working on this, thank you ^__^

I thought of a scenario in which Erik knows Peter is his son and somehow manages to dimension travel along with Charles to go pick him up and this happens

Erik: (finds Peter and accidentally calls him son while trying to talk to him)

Peter: You’re nOT MY DAD UGLY ASS FUCKING NOODLE HEAD.

-3 minutes later-

Charles: Did you really have to knock him out?

Erik: He was being extra annoying.

A change I think would have made Apocalypse a little better

What if instead of Mystique telling Storm about the Peter and Erik thing (which was completely wrong of her, Storm barely knew them and she just told her another person’s secret?), it was Raven herself the one to have the “are you gonna tell him?” conversation with Peter?

And then when he said that he might tell him one day, but that he was going to stick around for a while, Raven would look at Kurt, him being a little distance away from them, and then she would say “me too”.

There, the exact same conversation, no telling other people’s secrets, and finally doing something with the Raven-Kurt thing! Was that so hard?!

kurtvedders:

uncanny avengers (2012) #25: magneto, scarlet witch, and red skull

“this—is for—charles!”

“did you think you were his friend, magnus? i can tell you with all certainty—charles never loved you.”

“he tried to be better for charles. tried for the x-men. never for me.”

I think about this, a lot.

Like, were we suppose to agree with Wanda? I mean, yes, sure. BUT, right at THAT moment? He had every right to fucking rip that nazi trash red skull head to pieces. Anyways, miss the days when they were biological father and daughter
