The Richat Structure, also called the eye of Africa, was first thought to be the site of a large meteor impact. It was actually found to be a 40 kilometre wide, deeply eroded dome. It is located in the Sahara desert and is visible from space.

Sandstone dates to the Early Jurassic when the American West was covered in an ancient, flat desert. The elegant striations in the sediment are the result of the original deposition of the sand dunes, which were later exposed by erosion. 

Sunken path in a beech forest created by centuries of human traffic, a so-called anthropogenic erosion, due to the combined effect of damaged ground vegetation, soil abrasion, wind, andheavy rainfalls.
