Costis didn’t believe for a moment there had ever been a real Klimun, or a real Gerosthenes. He looked at Phresine for some understanding of the king’s distress, but Phresine was looking into space and seemed unaware of the king’s unhappiness.

“So,” she said, “Gerosthenes hit Klimun over the head with the amphora.”

“Ha,” the king snorted in relief. Phresine affected not to notice this any more than his earlier distress. She continued.

Post it note art during a meeting that should have been an email. Gerosthenes, I have a few people I’ll need you to hit over a head with an amphora when they open their mouths, please and thank you.

Gen: I get my news from the only reliable source

Gen: Cryptic symbolism in my dreams

Eugenides: Ugh! Attolia is the worst! I can’t believe I’m gonna marry her.

Eddis: Well, you don’t have to.

Eugenides: No, I’m gonna.

Gen: Uh, I think I got your lunch. [Holds up a note that reads: ‘I am very proud of you. Love, the Minister of War]

Eddis: Oh yeah. I didn’t think this was for me. [Holds up a note that reads: 'Be good. For the love of God, please be good.’]

“i could fix him” good for you. im gonna join him in his insanity

–Attolia Irene

attendant: how would you like your eggs?

attolia: hardboiled.

gen: poached.

costis: scrambled.

POV: you threaten to kill me and now you can’t get rid of me because I took it as flirting

–Eugenides

stop-handing-me-knives:

Kamet: YOU became the annux??

Eugenides: what, like it’s hard?

Irene: I cannot conceive of a universe without you in it.

Gen: Yes you can, it’s just less great and less hot.

Helen: Gen, NO!

Gen, confused: What?

Helen: Sorry, force of habit. Sophos, NO!

Eugenides: I have my formal, unconditional surrender in my hand even now.

Bu-seneth: Show me then.

Eugenides: That I cannot, for my hand is not here.

anakinthetrashking:

Irene: I still can’t believe Eugenides offered me his hand and marriage…

Helen: Irene, don’t you mean “hand IN marriage”?

Irene:…Hand AND marriage

Helen: …Hand IN marriage

Irene: h-hand and? Marriage?

Eugenides: Costis and I spent most of our time together…It was nice.

Attolia: Didn’t he almost kill you at one point?

Eugenides: So did my father.

Eugenides: And you.

Eugenides: And Relius.

Eugenides: Maybe I just bring that out in people.

Queen’s Thief Appreciation, Day 7: Short Stories – books (or in this case, short stories)/characters as things my friends and I have said

I had trouble deciding which of my 3 quotes to go with, so I decided to draw really sketchy versions of all of them. Happy short stories day!

Queen’s Thief Appreciation, Day 3: The King of Attolia – books/characters as things my friends and I have said

This book… just has to be my favorite one. The way Eugenides is revealed again and again draws me back to it again and again. Plus Costis, poor Costis <3

Queen’s Thief Appreciation, Day 1: The Thief – in my saga of QT books/characters as things my friends and I have said.

I wanted to participate in qtappreciationweek this year, but didn’t have the time to create any serious, meaningful pieces that would properly honor and embody my all-encompassing love for these books, so I’ve come up with the happy medium of… memery.

I’ve come to the conclusion that my silly contribution to this fun celebration isn’t totally out of place, because it does encapsulate one of the reasons I was first drawn into the series: the humor. My gods, the humor. From the moment Gen splayed his body by the side of the road, content to endure his new life as a landmark, I was enraptured. I adore Gen’s unbridled, raw snark in The Thief.
