I’m very, very sad the Måneskin had to remove “coglioni” and “cazzo” from their song for the Eurovision. It’s… Childish. The rules of Eurovision are childish and the first swear word actually is in an ITALIAN FIGURE OF SPEECH “vi conviene toccarvi i coglioni” (literally: y'all should touch your balls) and it means a gesture of superstition/when you are afraid, yips.
And also without violins the live version is such superior sigh, while in Eurovision the musical instruments are recorded
This is basically my yearly excuse as why Italy never wins Eurovision: the EBU approved and non-orchestral version of every song we bring IS SHIT. It has nothing to do with the original, Sanremo song. This year we have to cut the “swear words”, with Gabbani we had to cut part of the bridge and the song felt ‘disconnected’, there are never the orchestral bases… disgraceful. Let’s hope the guys make a good impression even with part of their original lyrics and arrangement removed.
Also is very sad to censure something like that, everybody swears or know some “not so nice” words. Even children!!
Tix’s performance meant a lot to me as a neurodivergent person. When he spoke about how he felt at 13 he was unlovable that was something that really resonated with me and is something I struggle with to this day. So I painted him and his cat .
