Here’s what I’ve been up to this week, haha.
This sweet little momma calico cat showed up on the farmstead a few days ago with her SIX kittens in tow! Poor momma cat was exhausted when I found her out by the old milk house on Wednesday but after the first day of good food and clean water she perked right up and is already getting quite friendly. Her kittens are all still pretty shy but we’re working on it.
She keeps moving them around the property (and over onto a neighbor’s place too) so taming the kittens isn’t going to be easy but I’ll try my best because I want to find good homes for these guys! If all else fails I guess I’ll trap them when they get older—definitely want to get them all spayed and neutered.
If anyone here happens to be in the middle TN/southern KY area and is interested in giving one of these beauties a good home hit me up! There’s also a solid black kitten and a dark tabby with white I don’t have very good pictures of yet.

Poor baby Bo had a bad bout of colic last night. No appetite, pawing until he made holes in the ground, violent rolling and thrashing, lots of groaning. I’ve never had a horse get colic before so that was scary but thankfully the on-call emergency vet was able to come out to see him around 10pm. And even better, it was just gas colic and he was already feeling much better by the time the vet made it out. Vet still gave him a shot of Banamine to help him feel better and this morning he was RAVENOUS for breakfast after missing his dinner so hopefully that’s all over with.
Everyone who meets Bo falls a little bit in love with him and his playful, mischievous self. The vet kept going on and on about what a cool little guy he is and what a great personality he has. I agree <3
Here he is being the cutest little roadblock you ever did see.
I’ve got a crappy trail cam in the pasture (the better ones are out further from the house where more of the wild critters are) and sometimes I get cute pictures of Sandy and Bo.
And sometimes I get pictures of them looking like kelpies on the hunt for prey to drag back into the pond, haha.

This one figured out she could lick the gate open so I had to redo the bolt… people say they’re dumb animals
