Well last night I ended my day 3 with ALL the cravings. And I gave in to every single one of them with Whole30 approved foods. I know, I know… I’m supposed to be making a new relationship with foods by not giving in to stuff like that but, this is a learning process. But I’m proud of myself for not eating the cookies in the office yesterday… they had jelly filled ones, chocolate dipped ones…. oh god, okay moving on! Last night I made kale chips and some warm fruit after dinner. Next time, I’m gonna drink some water and wait… See if I can get the sugar dragon of cravings to go away the old fashion way. We will see!!! Waking up to Day 4 and I’m tired and I have a headache… I feel slightly hungover but I didn’t drink. I’m cranky AF and don’t want to get out of bed…. Day 4 will be fun, I can already tell.
The other morning my girlfriend randomly looked over at me, brows determined, those sweet brown eyes filled with fire…. “I want to cleanse my body.”…. Sigh… My heart sank because I knew what was coming next. She had recently relocated from the East Coast and moved in with me. She has started a new job in a field she has never tried before, quit smoking weed (something she had been doing since age 16) and started cutting back on drinking… So I knew it was only a matter of time before she wanted to do something like a detox. I can understand it, she is starting a whole new life! Why not start it from the gut and let it work its way out? So since Whole30 seemed pretty easy (we could still eat meat), we decided on doing that. So for the next month I am going to try to keep updating our Whole30 experience….. here we go.
All I can say is Gimme Cake!! I am craving all the sweets lately and I am ready to stuff my giant belly with a yummy treat. Come and join me as I indulge in a favorite of mine. Let’s make this tummy fat and happy.

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters… S.T..R … My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.
STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)
They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid’s husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke…totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.
RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Remember the ‘3’ steps, STR . Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :
S * Ask the individual to SMILE .. T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg ‘It is sunny out today’). R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.
NOTE : Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is 1. Ask the person to ‘stick’ out their tongue. 2. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.
A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Had a family member almost die of one, so signal boosting because you never know when you could save a life.
Both my parents have had mini-strokes. Not as dangerous as full-blown ones, but still serious. Thankfully they are both okay now. I’m mentioning it because it’s super important to pick up on these things quickly. In the UK there is an advertisement campaign for recognising potential stroke symptoms. The acronym is F.A.S.T F - Face. Has their face fallen on one side? Can they smile? A - Arms. Can the person to raise their arms and keep them raised? S - Speech. Is their speech slurred? T - Time. If you see even just one of these symptoms, it’s time to call an ambulance (the emergency number in England is 999, but for other countries this will be different). Again, recognising strokes quickly is massively important in making sure there are no lasting effects.
