1918 10 07 Argonne, Sturmtruppen - John Shumate
The final German attack on the lost battalion just after 1700hrs on 7 October 1918. Just two of the Americans’ original nine Hotchkiss machine guns were still functional. After days without food and medicine, and with little water and sleep, surviving Americans were weak and in poor health. Nevertheless, according to multiple accounts, once the final German assault began, wounded men rose from their foxholes with their rifles, while those too injured to move loaded rifles for the rest. From behind the American pocket, and uphill, the Germans attacked with potato masher grenades. The 16 Strosstruppen attached that afternoon attacked the Americans’ left flank with a handful of flamethrowers. On the right flank, Captain Nelson Holderman and a sergeant repulsed a German attack almost single-handedly. The attack lasted at least an hour and a half and virtually exhausted the Americans’ last ammunition. Throughout the nearly week-long siege, both sides had engaged in shouted psychological warfare, as many of the besieging Germans spoke English, while many of the encircled Americans spoke German. As the attack failed, the surviving Americans began screaming taunts at the Germans. Minutes later, an American patrol broke through to Whittlesey’s pocket, ending the siege.

The Pyroclasts are a homebrew chapter of Space Marines created by a friend of mine. They’re a successor of the Salamanders legion, inheriting their name and battle doctrines from the legion’s distinct version of the Destroyer corps. I created this artwork at said friend’s request - modeled and rendered in Blender with lots of effects work in post.

In the course of 100 years the vampires conquered the main human kingdoms and managed to domesticate the human race like cattle to milk their blood, the different clans of vampires showed to be more implacable in battle than the old generations of their lineage; soon the empire of the Vampire King “Kain” obtained the obedience of all the human and vampire peoples of Nosgoth.
Despite losing the war some time ago, the rebellious humans to the empire of “Kain” continued with small assaults to exterminate the monsters that drink blood. These new “vampire hunters” maintained the coordination and faith of the old priests “Sarafan” that in the In the past they had managed to annihilate the ancestors of the vampires, honoring the duty of their ancestors these new vampire hunters would continue the fight in an increasingly deplorable and cruel environment for the survival of the human race.
Being the last human resistance that was named as the “iron guard” the vampire hunters used new weapons such as the “flamethrower” that reduced the bodies of the vampires to ashes regardless of their adaptation, The fire punished the sins of “Dumah” and he dissolved his clan when the other clans had entered a civil war due to the absence of King Kain, the new threat of the hunters alerted the rest of the vampires before the uprising of the humans to start a new holy war against him.
The future of humanity in the lands of Nosgoth is uncertain but the writer and director of the saga “Amy Hennig” contemplated a scenario where the hunters would make a last desperate attack on the “Silenced Cathedral” to reactivate the sonic weapon that would annihilate everyone vampires with a shock wave. (Including “Raziel's” participation as the avenging specter of her clan.)
