#foster kitten
Peppercorn had his milestone day today! He’s now over a hundred grams in weight, aka the size of a typical newborn kitten. He’s 8 days old.
I’ve also discovered that he is a deep sleeper
A very deep sleeper…
A “give your foster mom a moment of panic thinking you had died” deep sleeper…
Glad to report that my adrenal glands are in perfect working order.
Is that Rutabaga squeaking at you??
Yes. Yes it is.
Milestone day for Rutabaga! He’s grooming and playing! He’s managed to hold onto the “regular kitten” form for most of the day!
He no like pocket time. Alas.
Peppercorn disliked pocket time so much that I was unable to get a photo. Too busy keeping him from nosediving.
Instead, please enjoy these pictures of his perpetually concerned expression

In case you’ve been wondering about the lack of Rutabaga photos, now that he’s so active he’s turned into a cryptid and all my photos look like this
Oh my gods…
*dies laughing*
Okay, here’s one mostly in focus picture
Cryptid status continues
“Can’t Unsee!”
The horror! The horror!
Peppercorn turns 4 weeks old on Tuesday, 5/10. At 4 weeks old kittens are usually just beginning to grow in their premolars. The canine teeth erupt at 3 weeks.
It would be real nice if Peppercorn would grow his teeth…
I find it interesting how much lighter colored his eyes are than Rutabaga’s.

Peppercorn….what is that expression….
I think he may be having an attack of the zoomies while stationary
Non-picture update:
Peppercorn is doing fantastic. He’s almost 0.6# now and eating 20 to 30mls of formula each feed. Despite being 24 days old, there is no sign of canine teeth yet.
Rutabaga decided to have the ultimate case of weaning diarrhea that we’re currently battling with amoxi, panacur, fortiflora, canned i/d, nutrical and SQ fluids. He’s perky and eating well and he’s only defecated once today and it wasn’t completely liquid so we’re on the mend. He’s currently 0.76#.
