Rob Howard is a service tech at Knight Automotive in Plattsburgh. A regular customer brought in her GMC Sierra pickup truck to be serviced, but this was not normal engine trouble. Howard popped the hood of the truck and found a cat sitting in the car’s engine.

“It was kind of a little bit scared so it was meowing and hissing at me. At that point it jumped down to the skid shield underneath the fan,” Howard said.

Howard immediately tried rescuing the scared kitten.

When a stray kitten was first spotted by  Sarah Olds, just outside her Hillsdale workplace, she thought the small kitten was already dead.

“But then he just looked up at us,” Olds said of the kitten she and a co-worker found frozen to a sewage drain Wednesday, Nov. 19.

Olds and co-worker Thomas Arnold, who both work at AT&T, poured a bucket of warm water over the kitten’s stuck paw to loosen him.

“When we found him he hissed at Thomas, but when I bent to pet him he started to purr,” said Olds, who named the cat Elsa after the character in “Frozen.” “When I wrapped him up and took him inside, he was so cold he was barely moving.”

After work, Olds took the kitten to Kibby Animal Hospital in Jackson for a checkup. Lukily, the male kitten didn’t have any major issues,  just fleas and and inflammation on the leg that had been frozen to the ground, Olds said.

“These people did a great thing, they could have kept walking and ignored it,” said Dr. Mlissa Owings, a veterinarian at Kibby Animal Hospital.

Sarah didn’t just saved the male kitten’s life but she also made him the new addition to her family.

The family, which includes Sarah Old’s son Carter, 6, her boyfriend Michael Walters and two large husky St. Bernard mixes, are welcomed the kitten into their Michigan Center home.

Old said she didn’t find out the kitten was a male until after she named him Elsa, and plans to keep the name.

I think his girl name is weird, but I like it,” said Carter.

Jemma Lough, 43, had given up hope of seeing her beloved Toby again after failing to to return home one day in 2002

12 years later, Jemma received a shocking call and couldn’t believe when she heard that her missing cat is found.

More than a decade passed and she met her future husband Ant, 40, and set up home with him – 70 miles from the house she had shared with Toby and his mum Jackie.

So she was astonished when she received a call from a vet saying the cat, now 16, had been brought in –  after he was found living at a drug rehab centre.

Jemma said: “I wish he could tell me where he’s been. His feet, which were white, are a little bit grey so you can tell he’s been living outside. I couldn’t believe the phone call. I’ve never had anything like it.

“When I took the call initially, I was shaking. There were a lot of tears when I first went to see him, it was overwhelming.”

A volunteer at the centre – two miles from Jemma’s old home in Braintree, Essex – thought Toby was a stray and took him to a vet.

Fortunately Jemma had updated her address when she moved, so her contact details came up on the cat’s microchip.

Toby is now settling back in at home with Jemma and his mum Jackie, now 18, in Yaxley, Cambs.

Jemma said: “He walked over and licked his mum’s head when he saw her again.”

“If I hadn’t updated my details then they wouldn’t have been able to find me because I had moved. Everyone should make sure their details are updated, no matter how long it has been.”

Human dad’s unconditional love to his rescued orphan kitten

Meet Walker the rescue cat. When he’s just a tiny ball of fluff, around 4 weeks old, he was already left to fend for himself in the streets. It’s unknown where he came from, but luckily a kind woman saw him sheltering under a car in downtown LA.

He had no mom or any siblings with him, covered in dirt and ridden with fleas. He was too young and had a little chance of survival.

He was taken in by the kind woman and nursed him back to health. She was also able to find little Walker a human dad who will love and spoil him. His human dad continued to bottle fed him and with the help of his friends with experience in saving stray cats and a great vet, his fur baby pulled through.

Julius Caesar’s assassination site is now a home to homeless cats

Anyone who has visited Rome and its antique monuments has also seen their four-legged residents: the many stray cats that bask in the sun amid the ruins.

The Roman ruins at Torre Argentina are an oasis in the middle of the city’s chaotic traffic. The site is dotted with the broken columns of four ancient temples. It was here, at a theater designed as a meeting place for politicians, and the same site where archaeologists at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) claim that it’s exact site where Roman general Julius Caesar was stabbed to death in 44 BC – which is now a Roman Cat Sanctuary for homeless cats.

Kitten paralyzed by botched microchip insertion might walk again

The kitten had to be microchipped as part of the adoption process. But soon her rescuer noticed something had gone horribly wrong.The kitten started acting lethargic, couldn’t walk properly and dragging his entire left side. She thought it was odd since it happened right after the placement of the microchip.

The four-year-old girl rarely speaks and has great trouble with interacting with others, but expresses herself through movement and art.

Curiosity nearly killed this tiny cat after getting caught in a mousetrap

As an orphan in the wild, life was always going to be a big challenge for a kitten. Starving and too young to be left to fend for herself, life was always tough for this little five-week-old kitten. It is easy to see why a frail kitten like Babybell would resort to pawing at a cheese-loaded mousetrap.

The tiny black-and-white stray sniffed out the cheese and her curiosity almost killed her.
