Book Review: Mazes and Labyrinths by W.H. Matthews
Humans have long been fascinated by structures that pack the maximum amount of path in a small space, and those that create a puzzle to move through to find a center or exit. This 1922 book was the first major work in English to take a thorough look at the history and locations of mazes and labyrinths.
The author mentions in the introduction…
I spotted the first one in Dijon (Burgundy) and the second one in Sceaux (outskirts of Paris).
It looks like a British invasion is happening everywhere I go.

Josephine Baker was a singer, dancer, spy, activist, paragon of beauty, and member of social circles that included luminaries like Langston Hughes, Pablo Picasso, and Ernest Hemingway. Not bad, eh? She wowed audiences in her adopted France, worked for the resistance in the WWII, and returned back to the States to integrate concert halls and fight in the civil rights movement. Sonia Delaunay (14 November 1885 – 5 December 1979) was a Ukrainian-born Russian artist, who formally trained in Russia and Germany and spent most of her working life in Paris.
