A couple or three G&T’s and suddenly you have the urge to take a picture of Gandalf watching himself on TV because at that moment it is the most amusing thing you think you’ve ever seen.

Eat My Leek!

When good old Bill wrote Act V Scene 1 of Henry V, he probably wasn’t expecting tumblr to go completely bonkers about it. More fool he - we have since founded a Leek Kingdom, waged a succesful war on the ducks, and established an entire leeky family. This cocktail celebrates Fluellen, everyone’s favourite fighting Welshman, as well as the lovely, crazy, fabulous Shakesfandom on tumblr.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cl gin (recommended: Greenall’s)
  • Tonic water
  • Woodruff syrup
  • Tap water
  • Leeks for decorative purposes

Preparation:

This one takes some time to prepare cause you need to play around with the ice cubes. Make several batches by mixing woodruff syrup and water in various ratios, to get a gradient of different greens. Once that’s done, the rest is simple: Fill a tall glass with them, starting with the most vibrantly green and working up to normal white ones made of just water. Carefully fill up with the gin and tonic, and finally add an extra shot of woodruff syrup (it’ll settle at the bottom for an extra-green layer). Garnish with leeks and drink while toasting to the mighty Leek Queen!
